Thank you CT, well said! Master the gear you have in front of you! Stop jump shipping to the latest and greatest gear thinking that it'll help you boost to another level. Unless you really feel you have plateau'd on the gear you have, then consider what you need next. I think DJ gear has become hyped up like sneakers now a days. People want the latest hyped piece of hardware when they are barely using the features they have on their current set up.

I bought the Rane one soon as it came out. Yeah i was disappointed at first it only had serato FX. Since I was so used to the pioneer djs 9 effects. But once I started using the Rane one FX. They sound good to me when I'm mixing. I can combined 3 FX at once. That now I'm more creative using my effects when mixing. I love my Rane one controller, I've being doing lots of gigs with this controller. I sold my pioneer mixer and replaced it with the Rane 70 to have the whole set with my Rane 12s.

Finally! ... was looking for the answer to my question about SEARCH FUNCTION on the Rev7 for weeks and now I have the answer. Thanks, CT. I agree that the Rane One touch strip is the more intuitive way to track search than the SHIFT+JOGWHEEL implementation on the Rev7... it may not take much time to adjust to the procedure, I hope.

Thanks for the comparison review, you went over a lot of points that are not discussed in other videos. I come from a turntable background, and was using my Technics at mobile gigs until until I received the Rane One in Jan 2021. I've used the Rane One primarily out and about and will Here are my Pros for the Rane One: 1) Turntable Feel with the portability of vinyl control. The felt slipmat is super thin and backspinning is very light in resistance. My DVS records + Butter Rugs never felt this smooth. It is very fun to use 2) Easy to do Instant doubles. Double tap load button and you're good to go 3) Crossfader is butter 4) reliable as fuck!! I brought my turntables for a wedding gig, only for my DVS Phase to not work correctly (again). Had my Rane One on hand (for backup) and it worked flawlessly. 5) sound quality is amazing CONS: 1) OLDER COMPUTERS - This one isn't spoken about because I assume KZbinr Channels have the latest and greatest computer hardware for their gigs. My Pioneer SB2 allowed me to set my Serato Buffer Delay at 1MS with no issues. Even using actual turntables with Vinyl DVS (Numark Scratch Mixer + Ortofon Scratch Concorde Needles), I could also have my Buffer Delay at 1MS and program runs great. When I connect my Rane One and change to 1MS, my system begins to slow down and clip the audio. I have to change my Buffer Delay to mid/default at 5 MS. It is something to work with, but I don't like having to increase the delay to use newer hardware. I forgot what it is like when I use DVS + Phase (I've had sooooo many issues with Phase). I truly wonder what the Rev 7 will be like with my laptop 2) Not a fan of Cue buttons on mixers, that should be left for 4 channel devices 3) Crossfader curve adjust is on front, making it easy to accidentally change from sharp to smooth mid performance 4) software fx are unsatisfying and not fun to use. I'm not totally against Serato FX..They were fun to use on my Pioneer SB2, and pretty great on my Numark Scratch DVS mixer. Something about the Rane One, my FX always feel "off" Sometimes I'm using DVS or Rane One and I need to quickly rewind, and I find myself holding shift and backspinning on the vinyl but it rewinds normally and not fast. I'm glad they added this to the Rev 7. I've also always wanted a Pioneer DJM S Mixer and I've always loved the Jog Displays on the 1000 (not the SRT). DJM S Type mixer + Cue crossfader + Hardware FX + Potentially better vinyl/mixer - Durability issues - Rev7 Price = I preordered my Rev7. Plan to test out both extensively and return/sell the one I don't like

I remember saying on a Serato group chat Pioneer could have left the pitch slider the original way and got negative feedback. Glad someone understood the advantage of that. I still use the Rane 72 mixer because I love the fact it's built like a tank. If I were ever to buy any Pioneer gear I would put a Twelve inch skin on it right out of the box for protection.

Great comparison video. I don't own either one yet. I definitely prefer the XLR I/O, the raised design, and the power cable on the Rane One, but I'm probably going to go with the REV7 as I'm used to my DJM-909. I've always got my Rane SEVENTY and 1200's as a backup.

But after gathering myself and letting the hype train leave the station to your point I got what I need. I’m not a full time mobile DJ and have always been happy with Rane. I purchased a Rane 70 just last year based on your review. Guys like 69 beatz and Eskei need and want a controller like this. For those of us that use echo time to time and loop Rane one is perfect.

I like this review, I’ll be looking at more. I ended up coming back to the game after a long break from the 80’s and picked up the Mixstream Pro, but I’m having an issue with the jog wheel for scratching and cueing like my old 1200’s. Now I’m looking into the Rev7 or the Rane one for the spinning platters. Decisions, Decisions….thank you for all of the reviews and expertise…

Finally a balanced comparison! I wonder how many of the people who posted negative opinions against either of these machines have actually used both of them in order to make the comparison in the first place! Given the rev 7 is not even officially available yet I’m guessing very few. Why can’t they both be great? Let’s all let live and love.

Terry , First of all , Thank you for adressing my comment! (5:43) , its really helpfull to know what we are dealing with ... would really love to see a comparison between NS7 ii and the pio rev 7 ... i had my controller for like 7 years now , they were way ahead of their time ... the original akai MPC pads still feel like new , built like a tank , 4 channels , and many functions , i still find hard to belive that the pio rev 7 is better than my ns7 II ... ( many users like me would think about a change after 7 years of using the same gear... but i still think that the NS7 II is the king of motorised platter Dj controllers .) I hope u see this comment . Love ur videos , keep up the good work. would love to hear your opinion on this comparation.

I revisited this comparison today as my rev 7 came in today ...In short I feel exactly the same way about everything you spoke on ...my intention were to part with rane one once the rev 7 arrived ...I have really enjoyed the rane one as I actually bought it twice. I returned it when it first came out because of up and down faders no mic affects or on board fx...I went a head and got it again becouse of the size and build if it came down to me parting with one or the other it would be the rane .. its not an easy choice ...ps I did order some rubber feet to gently adhesive to my rev 7 ...so now its sits up off surfaces just life the rane one ....feet I got off amazon

Excellent comparison video.. I’ve watch many Rev7 videos over the past couple of weeks and have concluded that staying with the Rane One isn’t a bad choice.. for me it would feel like a lateral move because the only consideration I have is the mixer layout and on board fx on the Rev7.. Those are the only things missing on the Rane and since I just purchased it (40 days ago) it doesn’t make sense to spend $1899 on such a similar controller.. so even though the Rev7 has more features I’m sticking with the Rane One (for now) ✌🏾❤️✊🏾

To date, I think this video and your commenTerry (see how I flipped that?) is the fairest and most unbiased comparison video in the One-Seven debate. To be fair, I have the Rane 12s & 70 mixer in a coffin. The Rane One sparked my interest last year for a lightweight backup unit, or for small events. However, I had a gut feeling with all the feedback about onboard Fx, that another would be released after 2022. Then the Rev-7 dropped, which actually has me in popcorn mode... waiting to see what happens next. If another Rane All-in-One comes out, no doubt it will be better than the One. Great Video!

I am old school as you can get, I still rock my Numark mixer with 2 crossfaders, 4 channels and 8 band EQ. Touch a Rev 7 recently and it felt like I was still using jog wheels. Maybe something visually with the spindle guides hand placement for me. My Rane One brings me back to my first time scratching with Marantz turntables. I will get the Rev 7 (I'm a DJ tech junkie, just replaced my Numark mixtrack with my Mixstream just because..) but for those who trying to choose, heavy scratches in sets should go the Rane route while blenders and remixes should go the Rev 7 route even though both controllers can do it all...

Great video CT! DJBooth here! The platter spinning uncontrollably and having problems is a known issue on Numark's Old V7, NS7, and TTX turntables... The problems appear usually after a few years of use. Looks like the RANE ONE is still using the same motors from the old line for their new gear. They are strong, but they have their issues down the road. Both are dope tho

I'm moving from Traktor S4- S5 (over 15yrs) to Serato. I will admit, I like to have some bells, whistles, something a bit extra. I'm an IT type guy, so I want to feel that there is a level of functions that I haven't found out about yet. What I'm saying is that, I would feel buyers remorse if I got something that was within a year I figured out every nock and cranny of it, then realize that I don't have anything new to learn from it in the years to come. Coming from Traktor, I've had friends who said that the controller was overwhelming, but I always point out, just follow what you know when jumping on. The bases will always be there on each one. It's just, do you want to be the guy that avoids the voiceover, "Don't pay attention to the man behind the curtain!" Nah, let me see whats behind the vail! Lol. I told a friend once, if I come over, I'll be looking @ the Denom Prime 4, well Rev7 will be my transistion over!! You had a good point in regards to the mixer to platter size for scratching, it would be a bit tight, other controllers to Rane ONE, it's better but it looks like the Rev 7 gives you that extra space, so the Rev 7 would ease me to feel like I can scratch or at least get me learn more. All to say, I'm good for the full package!!

I had a Pioneer set up YEARS.....I MEAN YEARS AGO!! (2 CDJ500'S AND DM750 MIXER!! 😆) Nothing Pioneer has put out has made me want to spend the EXCESSIVE prices for their gear to get ANY of it!! ($13-16k for top of the line CDJ'S and mixer 🙄) But....I preodered the REV7. mostly because I wanted something new and NI hasnt EXACTLY been killing them game with anything new for the past few years. Plus, I started with turntables and still practice with them at home. (Just dont use them giging becauae of EXCESSIVE weight). Re Rev-7: With a better layout style on deck, effects and better line faders this is a deal maker for me. The concept of Rane 1 which I've own for some time now was a good one however Rane appeared to drop the ball with the very basic DJ essentials and that's layout and then the issue with on board effects , line faders , deficits with sharp cut in time and knobs on the front panel

I have a Rane One, and a Rane Seventy.. Salute to the Rev 7 and S11 owners out there, at the end of day once you learn the functions theres not much difference. I stick with Rane cos years ago i bought a second hand SL1 box that developed an issue. Contacted Rane and they fixed it for free even though it was out of warranty and i didnt have proof of purchase.

You have come a long way. There eas a day when you would have never come out and say which one you think is better. You would say it's all personal preference, I believe. If that truly is the case, and my sincerest apologies if not, I like this way better. Nothing wrong with you giving your opinion, especially after giving such a thorough breakdown. Put your ass out there! I ain't broke down nothing and I'm picking pioneer. I was thinking about an s7 but now this is out, its mine. Getting too old to keep lugging this cfin with tablets and mixer 😒. You are givin mojax a run for his money with your tech reviews 👍🏿

I currently have the Traktor S4 MK3, so I'd rather not get a controller that doesn't have motorized jogwheels or platters. I've grown to love too much. I'm looking to transition over to Serato this year. So I'm kinda torn. I love that the Rev 7 gives you an entire S9 mixer basically. But I also love the streamlined look of simplicity that the Rane One has. Ultimately, either would be a logical solution for me. But I guess it'll all boil down to which one feels better. Hard to choose without knowing how either of them feel 🤷🏾‍♀️

Just bought the Rane One and I have to say that it has brought me back to the passion of DJing. I started on Technic 1200s and this reminds me of that so much. I don't think I'd get that from the Rev 7 so I'll stick the Rane.

I didn't even know about all the problems you listed here about the Rane One. I'm buying a new device because I'm having problems with the current one. I don't know what the current status is, whether the bugs have been fixed. But if these are hardware problems, they won't be that easy to fix I guess. My favorite is also the Rane One as Pioneer is way too expensive in comparison.

Hey, so the big question for me is how much to value the built in effects. I've only ever used Serato effects. I've heard built in effects are much better but if it's not as big a deal as some say I'd prefer the Rane One for the position of the pitch sliders, raised stand, etc. Anyone have a perspective? I love that the Rane One can be used as a standalone mixer for playing playlists through iTunes as needed, too. As a mobile DJ who does a mix of all kinds of events, that flexibility is appreciated. I currently use a 6 channel mixer with a Pioneer DDJ SB3 and desperately want to upgrade as I've started DJing more parties/dances with mixing expectations.

I just got the RaneOne and love it! I'm coming from a ddjsx that I had for 7yrs and it just started to give me issues. I wanted the ddjsx3 for gigs and the 12s for home studio but a new ddjsx3 was 1200 and the 12s and mixer was 3k, so I said f**k it, get the RaneOne and case. The REV7 looks nice but 1900 for that and abunch of features that you will never use, to me, is pointless. Simplicity is the best way to go, it makes you focus on what really counts and thats mixing!!!

I was sitting this one out until my gig calendar required that I jump in. Needed turntable emulation that could travel easily, survive the rigors of the road and perform well on high stakes events. After being blown away trying out the REV7, I ended up copping the Rane One. For me it came down to tank-like metal construction, the internal power supply (you can find an IEC/C13 cable anywhere on the planet) and the feet. Road worthiness won out over the amazing REV7 feature set. Kinda blown to not have hardware fx at this price point but I had to be overwhelmingly practical with this decision.

Problem solved.......get both. haha just messing BUT as an owner of a RANE ONE and a future owner of a REV7, i can honestly say i plan to use both of them. The rane i plan to use on functions where i dont need much, just small events, small venues, stuff that dont require me to "perform" and more or less just play music. The REV7 is going to go with me to "clubs" and places where i would "perform" such as with an artist or with a band. I have uses for both and i plan to keep both. they all have their own pros and cons but so far everything has been great with the RANE ONE and i do not plan to sell mine, PLUS i just got the JESSE DEAN tone arms, so now i can play 45s and 7 inch records whenever i wanna do an all vinyl set with that type of media. I really do feel like SERATO really needs to revamp their whole FX sound and use, i think if they fixed that, there would be no real gripes from DJs about the "hardware" effects. Please serato fix your FX to make it more useable.

Hey Terry! Digital Dj Tips did the same comparison review and said exactly what u said. Which means u can’t go wrong either way. I personally love Rane gear have used it’s since the early 90’s (mp 24). I just think the built quality is better. I do like the Rev 7 but honestly the screen in the middle is over kill. I rather have more real estate to put my hands since it’s only 7 inch platters. If Rane comes out with a Rane 2 with onboard effects then that’s perfect! I definitely love the simplicity. Oh pioneer always suffered from poor pre amps. This Rev 7 by far is the best sounding controller in the pioneer brand. Here’s a video someone posted showing that the Rane 1 has a slight better sound quality even with pioneers improvement. Great job Terry! kzbin.info/www/bejne/qXnYdpSjeMp3f5Y

@@ClevelandTerry Thank you for your input just a little background on myself I started DJing in 1979 and started out with technics 1200s. The reason why I ask about the Rane One being that This video you mentioned some issues with the platter suddenly stopping or not working and some issues with the faders. On the plus side NLFX PRO has the Rane One in stock ready to ship. The 1000 SRT is on back order, just trying to make a decision whether I should wait or go with the latest technology has quite a few other DJs said they love the Rane One. Based on your professional advice which one would you rather have over the other.

Great video, you really should mention the software issues that PioneerDJ controllers have been giving Mac laptops for years since the SX-3. (Shout out to all my DJs with SRT-1000s and house fans under their macs.) I've yet to have the overheating issue with my Rane One (knock on wood) and can we talk about how Pioneer knobs are good for about 1 calendar year???
