I'm like 90% sure that it should actually be you and me in that circumstance but whatever

90% sure, but 100% right.

Two years two late, I know, but it actually is "you and I" because they're acting as predicate pronouns, not direct objects. For example, you would say, "It is I," not "It is me." "As long as it's you and I" is actually correct.

I mostly enjoyed this, except for the bit about Miley Cyrus. In truth, she's as bad a role model in grammar as she is in everything else. According to Dwight McDonald's 1961 essay on Websters Third, the phrase "you and I together" or "between you and I" is "a widespread and well-known solecism (i.e. mistake)." It actually should be "you and me together". One way to check is by eliminating the words "you" and "together" to focus on whether "I" or "me" is appropriate. The original sentence "Just so long as it's you and I together" becomes "Just so long as it's I." This redacted sentence is ear-bleed nonsense compared to the alternative "Just so long as it's me." This latter version with "me" sounds normal. Therefore, we know that Miley should have said "Just so long as it's you and ME together." (plus whatever hashtag # she want's to throw into the mix) So... please fix that joke (flipping it on its head could still work in the context of the comedy). It will be good for you, and those who have been grammatically assaulted by Miley.

Ok, I know I'm two years past this discussion, but it actually is "you and I." When using a linking verb to connect a pronoun to a noun, you use the nominative case (or, in other words, the same word you would use if it were the subject noun). For example, it's correct to say "It is I," but incorrect to say "It is me." So Miley, surprisingly, is actually, in this instance, correct.
