Your wife is from Gilette, WY? I used to drive thru there twice a year, from MT to IA to visit family, for 15 years. Once, over a decade ago, we were driving back and our jeep broke down in Gillette on a Sunday. We thought we were screwed, as we were broke. Pulled into a bar and the people there were so nice, this bar parton had a tool box in his truck and the bar owner knew or was related to the local scrap yard owner, who pulled the part we needed and brought it over and fixed it there in the parking lot. Damn decent folks. Helped a (at the time) young couple with a small child who were complete strangers, out of state ones at that, out of the goodness of their hearts. So a salute to your wife's hometown, goid sir!

Meanwhile, when out in the forest or on a trip, i drink from streams, or public wells in villages. Never had a problem. And I feel lucky, cuse I don't have to go to war like my great-grandfather did. He had to drink from puddles and water that accumulated in the holes made by marching horses, as he was a prisoner in Rusia. He was one of the lucky ones that returned.
