My wife just bought her first new car 2016 Subaru Legacy 2.5i Limited and my plan to purchase a WRX will be on hold for now. My whole family is loyal to Subaru due to the quality and the standard awd system.

I got notification of a reply to my comment. I don't see the person's message here but it was about the reliability of my 2002 Forester compared to Honda and Toyota. I don't know about them. I never had one. In the 12 years that I had the Forester I had both CV joints replaced, one catalytic converter, a head gasket leak, antiknock sensor and on the day I took delivery of my Outback the radiator sprung a leak. So for 12 years and 200,000+ miles, not too bad. No AC problems. No alternator, water pump or ignition problems. This is why I bought another Subaru. Let me elaborate on the head gasket leak. Subaru had a problem called piston slap back then. It showed up when the temperature was below 45 degrees F it seemed. Annoying so I pressed the dealer to replace the piston under warranty. Well, that silenced the worst offender but the other pistons were now more pronounced. So I lived with it and it never cause oil consumption problems. I believe that leaking gasket would not have happened had I lived with the ticking. The dealer's mechanic may have either used a poor gasket, mistorqued the bolts or who know why it happened.

I just ordered an Outback today. I wanted another Forester but when I found that the Outback had rear and side radar, I wanted that along with Eyesight. I hope this one is even better than my 2002 Forester.

Hi Steve, what is the reliability like for Subarus from your experience. Wondering if the regular maintenance is more than, say a Toyota/Honda vehicles. Thank you for your advise.

Solipsi Rai I am happy to,hear that another person is interested in Subaru. I just bought a 2015 dark red Outback 2.5L Limited. Its my 2nd Subaru in my lifetime. When I was in the military stationed in gazebo Japan, I owned a 1995 Subaru legacy wasgon. I owned that car for 14 years, then gave it to my wife's family when we moved back to the states. They still have it! And it runs perfect, only replaced one wheel bearing and that's it besides the timing belt. Sorry to tell you but the outback only has one transmission, a CVT that achieves 33 mpg hwy. W8 city. And honestly. I hate cvt transmissions, but this Subaru cvt is simply amazing, you can't tell it's a cat, and I'm saying the truth. If you get a 2015 Subaru, I guarantee you will love it and keep it forever, like 90% of Loyal Subaru owners usually do. Cheers and hello from Seattle WA.

I bought a 2013 Outback. It is far and away the best car I've ever owned. The AWD is fantastic, and frankly, the amount you get for the money with these cars is pretty impressive. The ONLY thing I don't like is the standard three year warranty. They should follow Kia and go with a longer one. They can easily do it with these cars.

Outback BT (gen6) in top trim is even better. Like good whiskey/cognac/wine that gets better with time. Solid built, new frame rocks, gets you there with comfort and style. Only minor issues are present that can be easily ignored in favor of endless profits and benefits

I just purchased a 2015 Carbide Grey Subaru Outback 3.6R Limited with Eyesight. I have only had it for about two days but I absolutely love this vehicle. It was my dream car. Every amenity I wanted and more. I love the lane departure warning and the adaptive cruise control. The backup camera with the 7 inch screen is fantastic. The quality of the leather is top notch and the stiffness of the ride inspires confidence. I can't wait until it snows here in Maryland again so I can see what it's really got.

Never owned a Subaru had a rental one 2016 . It's so stiff havy on gas design look so update. All my life I was buying German cars Passat Audi BMW to be honest it's expensive to fixed but on the road those cars are so smooth lot's of power my 2006 Passat already had 6 speed 2L turbo Subaru they were still using 4 ,5 speed. Now they design new full SUV for North America with 19 cop holders 19 Wow to make American fatter then ever before. Good Job Subaru.

I have a 2015 Legacy Touring in Canada , and I find it annoying at the pumps , the fuel door release location is primitive , it should be electronic button on the dash..!! beside or on the same area as the trunk release..!! other than that I love my Subaru

Only other real complaints with the car are the swaying at freeway speeds, and the Navigation system only being available with Eyesight in 2017. Some of the other options only available in non-North America markets would be nice, too.

Upgrade your rear sway bar... I did mine with a OEM Subaru one without jacking the car up or anything... 20min job. 2019 Legacy 4 banger.

One of the things I love from my 2006 Outback are the frameless doors. Why the 201x models have framed windows? Any idea if they are going to be back to the frameless desing?

I think there's a reason for having framed windows. Might be for safety to make it more rigid or something.

I have loved Subaru ever since I bought WRX STI. Doing so, my spouse wanted one as well, so we got legacy. Overall, performance is good, but could use cosmetic touches. i.e. Still noisy cabin, engine lacks power, static in the front speakers even when radio is off, and nothing is being done to improve that. Thus, making the second purchase bit sour.

i love subaru since i was kid, and the new design, performance and interior are AMAZING .. but the acceleration (for example "legacy") is really bad, just comparing it with older models not with other cars.

yes but can Subaru put ally or steel sump guards on the off road models it just helps assure the customer that you poke it up a rough track and your not likely to punchure the sump the old Leone/loyale 4wd wagons came standard with one also can we see a return of duel range on the manual models please?

im sorry but subaru lost me with theire lack of design, not only they are expensive in gas and maintenance i know i own 4 of them, good winter car truth, but still, not a lot of improvement in term of durability, gas filler neck always rust like crazy or gas tank and weak strut design, inhibitor which almost always fail or need adjustement. windows all get scratch after going up and down after several year, windows gausset fail broke, wind noise dont get me wrong those a great car but you need to know what your getting into.if you go turbo its even worst.so if you maintain them with the recommendation maybe maybe if you plan of keeping them for couple year hell ya, but if you thinking about buying one and thinking about keeping it for very long like 15 year, be aware that they will be a lot of expense in repair after 7 year

It depends on How you Maintain it... We own a Legacy Made in Japan Model 1992 L with many upgraded and Accessories = Bra Cover Chips in Bumper and Engine Hoods. Winter Rims and Tires Bridgestone Made by Subaru... On top of the Summer Rims/Tires; And a 2008 Outback which had HG problems but besides from that The Outback cost us nothing else... Looking forward to Newer Model 2025 Outback/ CrossTrek or Impreza/ Forester as the last two are still Made in Japan. I have driven them since 1992; used for Engineering Surveys and Oil and Gas Drilling Sites. Changed oils every 3 months no matter what/how long driving. Change Oil Filters Twice a year; and Flush the Coolant every Winter Came after 1997; Replaced CV-Axels as required; Flush Trans in 2004; And the Original Timing-Belt was until 2019; the Subaru Tech Lady said ... OMG the Timing-Belt was older than her! May this year 2023 the Car was stolen otherwise we would have the Car Repainted and have some Rust works on my own. In fact the Winter Rims and Tires I still have... And the Original Timing Belt is next to my Computer... (We/i Still have a Pair of Side Mirror, a Signal Steering Column Assembly and Many parts bought extra for the Subaru 1992 Legacy. It is 2024 Coming just buy a Subaru and Change to new one after 5 years; Order for yourself a 2025 Forester or Legacy ... We/ I believe Subaru will make the 2025 and beyond Subaru's the Simple and Best of all Generations of Subaru ... either Legacy or CrossTrek and/or Forester.
