i traded in my '07 bmw wagon for this and i couldn't be happier. great car, and you nailed the review. it's playful, but mature. fun and comfortable. and it doesn't cost an arm and a leg to buy or maintain.

This is a great review! You didn't even need to spout all the usual and repetitive specs, dimensions, measurements and stats stuff and yet you were able to significantly present what the car really is all about, of what a Subaru XV Crosstrek really is in a real world feel and demonstration. This is a very honest review pointing out both the car's strengths and weaknesses and how this model improved compared to older Subarus. Other motoring journalists and reviewers should follow suit. Keep up the good work.

+Carlo Danao Thanks! I believe that a car review is more than numbers. You need to know about the things that are hard to quantify with data. Some cars just feel better, work better, and are nicer to drive for a myriad of reasons that you just can't explain with horsepower and 0-60 times. Thanks for watching!

One of the best descriptive reviews I have read yet for something that isn't tangible. The car does many things right and you pointed them all out without relying on measurements and things like that. It's something one really has to drive, and just feel what makes a Subaru a Subaru. l love my 2015.

I really like this review, you were very thorough and knowledgeable and actually drove it through terrain and the highway and we can see the eyesight system work. I found this more useful than any other reviews because you weren't just talking about the features, you compared them with previous experience with the brand, and not just comparing stats with other models that anyone can compare on paper.

Thanks for this review on the Crosstrek. I've watched quite a few, but very much appreciate your view. It must be hard to try and be honest without pissing off the manufacturer's if you want cars in your driveway. You didn't get into techniques about the car but had more of a real world feel. Thanks
@AutoTalkcom9 жыл бұрын
+Cam A If you are worried about pissing off the manufacturers, you shouldn't be reviewing cars. My job is to give you guys the best review I can so that you can make an informed buying decision. I don't ever worry about losing cars, and what I say in these videos is honest. I have given several Subaru models some less than stellar reviews, but the XV Crosstrek is a great machine.

Great review. I have a 2015 Impreza and was on the fence about the Crosstrek. Maybe when my lease is up I'll try to Crosstrek again. Solid review and learned new stuff about my car.

Thanks for your sincere review. Great job Im also a fan of the crosstrek. Love the crosstreks quirky funky looks and purpose built utility refreshing to see in a class filled with wannabes and beauty queens. Buying mine this spring. The hyper blue is growing on me.

+Ricardo Massa Hyper Blue is one of the best factory colors that exists today from any manufacturer. Thanks for watching the review!

I test drove the Hybrid and the gas model of the crosstrek and despite the higher price tag I went with the Hybrid. It felt more peppy, a little more rugged, the wheels look cooler, and it was noticeably quieter. A little research on the car and it comes with a little better sound mitigation, the EV adds 13 HP, and the suspension is tweaked a little differently so I guess that is where all that cost goes to. I wasn't too into leather either, but it just looks nice and feels good in the car. Plus, a friend mentioned that it is just easier to clean. I love the car and while it was 31k, I don't feel like I made a bad purchase on the vehicle with all the options it came with.

Good review, was nice to finally find a review where I learned something more about this car. I too enjoyed test driving this vs the very sedate Outback.Strongly leaning towards purchasing one, though I'd like to test drive a CX5 yet.

+HillOrStream Glad to hear you like it. I have yet to drive the CX-5 myself, but I do tend to really enjoy what Mazda makes. It would certainly make for an interesting comparison.

Thanks for such an honest review, something the industry is sorely lacking... personally I'd like to see more performance car reviews (wrx, m2/3/4, s3, etc.)
@AutoTalkcom9 жыл бұрын
+koopagabla I review every car that hits my driveway, but I don't have much say in what actually shows up. It is up to an army of various decision makers across several different companies. That said, the more popular the channel becomes, the more likely we are to get really cool things. So keep watching, liking and sharing. We can get there!

Thanks for this review. It actually helped me decide to purchase a 2016 limited. The line near the end comparing it to a 2005 Forester was almost like you were speaking to me. :) The new Foresters are just not the same. You are off about the model you were driving being the top of the line, but otherwise a very helpful review.

+Eric MacDonald Subarus are very special kinds of cars. There is a weird magic there in the old ones. Glad you enjoy that feeling, and happy to help you find the right new car.

Wrong, the rear wheels are always getting power. They don't kick in when needed. Also, 33mpg hwy. Not 34.

I really loved this review, Been researching this car for a couple weeks now. I'm really on the fence about the trans. I drive a Standard shift Caliber now. I want the Crosstrek with Standard but want the fuel mileage of the CVT. Also can't get the Limited with STD Shift. I believe that is due to the Eyesight package. But not really sold on the Eyesight package either!

I'm going to look at a XV tomorrow. My main concern is the seemingly anemic power the engine puts out. 148hp just doesn't seem that great. How did you feel about the power it had? I'm coming from an 04 WRX. I really wish they would have made a turbo'd version available with a 5spd.
