One feature I like is that the 60/40 rear seat split folds down with the 60 on the right side instead of the left. That means if you have really long cargo (like a Christmas tree) you can also fold the front seat down and there will be enough width as well as length for your items. That is something I don't see in any other vehicle. It's usually the opposite.

This is the best XV Crosstrek review that I've seen on KZbin. You are very good at this! Thanks for the information.

+Che Robinson That's only on older models. Nothing 2013 and up has these issues. All cars as they age use more oil between changes. Also,if the owners switched from the factory synthetic to regular oil it's a guarantee it will use more. Btw,Consumer Reports recommended every Subaru model except the BRZ.

I very much agree with this review. I've had my manual transmission 2015 Crosstrek Premium for about 6 weeks. I've been getting around 26 mpg, but I drive more city than highway. It's been a great vehicle on Oregon's gravel forest roads, & handles just as well around town and on highways/freeways. My biggest complaint is that I'm so short that once I have the seat to the height & forward position I need, the sun visor hits the back of the headrest when I move it to the side window. Relatedly, the front headrests don't go down as low as I would like (I'm 5'1", with a short torso). Other than those two very minor issues, I love the car!

+RosebeeVids I have the Manuel version as well when I drove from Pittsburgh Pennsylvania to Los Angeles California I averaged 36MPG across the 2700 mile trip and that was with the car full to the roof with stuff!

Every time I see an XV Crosstrek, it reminds me of the old AMC Eagle. Now there's a car that was decades ahead of it's time.

Great job. Your perspective includes commentary for a wide range of drivers providing information for informed decisions. Combine that with your personal opinions (= mega experience) I find your posting refreshing, succinct with a lot of data & pleasing. For this car, the rattles are a bit of a worry in that "down the road" the annoyance will increase. Thank you & keep up the excellent presentations.

+garfield2889 JD Power has these as 3rd worst for 2015- use oil-in FACT-subee just lost a class action suit regarding oil-The paints paper thin and the roof? no insulation feels like a tin shed in the rain-Fogs bad too.seals are weak-we always have water leaking in our 2015 Crosstrek/.So Done with Subee...

@ 9:10 --> what figure would you call "class leading" ? Which model/brand in this class has that "class leading" figure?
@TestDrivenTV
@TestDrivenTV 9 жыл бұрын
+sami yemeyahni The host states the Crosstrek has "impressive if not class leading ground clearance of 8.7". Most small crossovers in this class have less.
@samiyemeyahni1488

+TestDrivenTV exactly my question. When you say "impressive if not class leading" instead of "class leading"; I would think you have something else in mind which is better (hence that figure is class leading- and not this one). I wondered if there are models in this class with a better ground clearance...

Often when giving brief driving impressions as this video shows, it's impossible to have a catalog of all competitors exact specs in the brain. The Jeep Renegade Trailhawk which some could compare to this has 8.7" of clearance also. The point is, it's good. ;)

JD Power has Subaru as 3rd worst for 2015-according to the owners manual its normal 2 use 1 quart of oil every 1k!!! That means ? between oil changes you will be replacing the oil 2 times-10 quarts at 12 buks a quart plus the 125 buks for the oil change... Check the gas and fill the Oil...Lemosns-Paints super thin too..scratch so easy!!!

Why would you ding a car so much for such an awesome feature as eyesight??? You don't have to love it but like you said you don't have to buy it. If its my car I don't want anyone I let drive it turn it off. Bet when all cars come with it you will change your tune.
@TestDrivenTV
@TestDrivenTV 9 жыл бұрын
+gsctht123 As we said, it is a great system. But that it lacks a button to allow the owner to choose whether it is on or not is the problem. Most brands do, Subaru is one of the only that doesn't give the owner a choice. That is what it is dinged for.

+TestDrivenTV What cars option for these safety features to be off?
@gsctht123
@gsctht123 9 жыл бұрын
Im just saying that dont even make sense for a car company to option to have to turn on safety features every time you get in a car. You dont have to turn on traction control, stability control, ABS air bags...etc..
@TestDrivenTV
@TestDrivenTV 9 жыл бұрын
+gsctht123 Most all other brands which offer lane departure warnings and similar features allow the owner to defeat them permanently in the settings. The only two brands which we have tested since these have come on the market which don't are Subaru and Mitsubishi. Some people find these features annoying and prefer not to have alarms going off on them when they change lanes without a signal or veer to miss an obstacle. In that way, it's our personal opinion that while these systems are great for a lot of people, the owner should have the ability to not have them on if they choose. Thus, we recommended here that if you don't like being nagged by the electronic back seat driver, this is a system which you should not option as it cannot be turned off as a default.

+TestDrivenTV Great review! Safety can be inconvenient for some, I guess. Also, that CVT includes artificial shift points in the 2016 model - this makes it "shift" like a more familiar "step transmission". Definitely check it out for a future review.

I cant stand all the new nanny gadgets. The real problem is that people are driving distracted constantly when they should be concentrating and actually paying attention to whats really important during your commute .....driving. I prefer the safest original feature....an attentive undistracted driver. Phone calls texts and web surfing can wait. If you have to make a call either pull over or use bluetooth. Most accidents now are caused by driver distraction.
@truckerrickakamanowar
@truckerrickakamanowar 9 жыл бұрын
Accident rates are skyrocketing along with everyones insurance rates because of distracted driving. It has become deadlier and more prevalent then druving under the influence of drugs or alcohol. People are also driving much faster and careless not following basic traffic laws. ie passing on rt, crossing solid lines, not using directionals, not driving to weather conditions I can go on and on. Also a selfish all about me factor these days, lacking basic common sense and courtesy.
