As a person with autism, I often get annoyed by portrayals in film and television because nobody ever gets it right. Because nobody ever gets it right, people who don't know us think they know what we're like when they really don't and that can be harmful. I was very, very, very impressed by this show because finally, FINALLY someone gets it. As I was watching it, there were several scenes that were uncomfortable to watch because of how they assault the senses but it's okay because it needed to be that way for the audience to understand. I'm not sure how this would be made into a film, but I wish someone would try because people NEED to see this and not everyone would go to a play.

This just simply isn't true. 'Curious' aims to broaden our understanding and our own way of thinking. Simon Stephens (the playwright) said "Curious is not really about Christopher at all, it's about us". Mark Haddon (the author of the book) also said he regrets the book/play has been labelled with autism in this way as Christopher does not see himself with a disability, just a different way of thinking. Don't go around saying its about 'Autism being bad for your brain' when it's just your own skewed opinion. Also your vaccination accusations are bull.

my friends thought this was totally inaccurate and they have autism also there were loud sound effects in the play which i think that would bother most people who are on the spectrum

I agree. This and Good Doctor are both accurate representations.

Amazing play based off of an equally amazing book. This play, especially the book, changed my life. I read it during a particularly dark time in my life, and while reading I didn't just see myself in Christopher, I was Christopher. The last line in the book is "...and that means that I can do anything." and that is exactly how the book and the play made me feel.

Please link to the study that proves that assumption. One could make a sweeping judgment and claim they are all bipolar.

You have a very narrow understanding of what autism is. Perhaps pick up a book. While there are some children who are severely disadvantaged by their place on the autism spectrum, there are many people who have had amazing careers, had families and have only been diagnosed later in life. Autism is a spectrum, and it has many ways of manifesting itself.

Amazing play. Extremely emotionally affecting. I wasn't even mad that I didn't win the Hamilton lottery after all that.

as someone with autism I think the portrayal is amazing, the visuals are almost as close as you can get to what is inside my brain, but I ended up having a meltdown from the lights and sounds when I saw this haha

My drama GCSE solely relies on me remembering what exactly happened in the play so I am desperately trying to find clips of specific extracts **sobs**

MegaLegends123 It's called Maths Appendix and it's by Adrian Sutton, he wrote all of the music for the play. It's all electronic to feel sensory and almost be like data in a computer, and inspired by the main characters passion for maths. It's my absolute favourite play! :)

Claireych21 Yeah, I'm going to go see on my vacation trip to Europe which starts the day after the Fourth of July. P.S. do you know where I can find a possible recording of this if not from Itunes? I would love to listen to it whenever. :)
