If anyone is on the fence about this car, GO BUY IT. I have had my new 2015 Toyota Camry 2.5L XSE for a week so far and I love it. This is coming from a guy who has driven V6 cars for the past 12 years (1998 Toyota Camry 3.0L V6 LE and a 2013 Lexus RX 350 3.5L V6). While it might not be as fast as the 3.5L V6 model, which I got the chance to test-drive, it's got damn fine suspension; it's tight and it allows you to take turns without compromising on speed. I don't know how fun it'd be to truly "whip around" in the V6, but you won't be disappointed with the 2.5L. Spend some money on your interior and get a great car with tons of tech upgrades. I got mine for right under $25,000 after incentives, tags, and taxes.

Thanks for that bit of info. I was wondering about the power as I have 2002 maxima 3.5L that's currently at about 200k. I was shopping this particular Camry, but was worried about acceleration. Now I know I won't be too disappointed. Thanks!

Well it's 2022 now and I found one of these at my local Toyota dealer. It's in pretty mint shape its got 126000km and all they want is $179 bi/weekly for 72 months.. That's $28,000.00 CAD for a 7 year old car, these things gain value apparently!

lol, this guy is a hater...he has a totally different attitude when he reviews the honda accord like it's the greatest car yet the camry actually accelerates faster than the accord. this review is a joke
@MainChannelBanned

+Jose Ochoa Um no, the Camry suspension and brakes are the joke as is within most factory mid size FAMILY sedans, but while the Accord pick any year actually feels sporty, the Camry can never be confused as such. Just slapping a Sport emblem on it’s ass and calling it a Sport model is simply marketing, it’s a Camry for fucks sake not a Turbo FRS or a Supercharged Mustang, just a nice Camry folks nothing more to see. Trust me the millions of millions of buyers didn’t buy a Camry to run 12’s in the quarter mile. Camry’s are brought to drive everyday to anywhere with nice creature comforts, solid reliability and uber great gas mileage. Saying Sport and Camry in the same sentence is almost as laughable as saying it accelerates faster so it has to be Sportier, right.
@Lordspaghett
@Lordspaghett 6 жыл бұрын
Michael Williams The camry has much better brakes, accords are fitted with smaller brakes than they should be from the factory, hence why several burn through pads and warp rotors before 40k ask me how I know. Also replacement pads and rotors from Honda are a joke, let alone all of the little electrical issues I shouldnt have had to worry about during the first 4 years of ownership, such as VSA modulator valve failure, loss of gauges at high speeds, and many other issues. Meanwhile our 2015 camry has only needed oil changes and tire rotations. Go figure.

Very few people actually want your so-called "steering feel" or "road feel" because our roads SUCK. When I drive long distances to work or whatever, I don't want anything wearing me down, least of all inconsistent pavement.

Adrizz5447 Precisely. Aside from the gas mileage, those are the reasons I drive my Lincoln SUV instead of my Escort Wagon long distances. The cheap car has a rough ride similar to the "road feel" of the kind of car Roman thinks every vehicle should be...and it wears me out. With the Lincoln I'm isolated from the road and world around me such that a long trip is easy to handle.

Honestly, I don't understand Roman at all. Why in the world can't he adjust his comments to the matter at hand. You're reviewing a Camry!! Why are you asking if it stirs the soul? Why do you ask "is it exciting?" It's a Camry. Camry drivers do not "gun" their cars or accelerate crazy. Camry drivers want a dependable, reliable, safe, predictable and comfortable ride. There is nothing wrong with that. Nothing.... Why do these guys all of a sudden now want to measure all vehicles with their "FUN" yardstick? What's gotten into you guys anyway..... Your reviews are, for the most part, irrelevant and meaningless.
@wellrounded713
@wellrounded713 8 жыл бұрын
+Binder Dundat You hit it right on the head! But besides that have you noticed how the once super importance of reliability has become almost an irrelevant subject outside of a quick reference to the word itself, almost under their breath! For example the German cars to these reviewers are almost always vondebar but come along in most cases with poor reliability, (especially if compared to Toyota products) besides the inflated sticker prices, but yet rarely a peep about it from them.
@cwqrpportable
@cwqrpportable 8 жыл бұрын
wellrounded713 I agree totally. I'm fed up with being told how great a compact car corners or how dead it's steering feels. Hello?? To feel any appreciable difference in handling, a driver would have to take the car close to the limit and chance causing an accident or being arrested. We need fewer aggressive drivers Mr Auto Journalist.....NOT MORE! Bypass these so called experts and ask directly the owners of the vehicle in question what their experience has been. I top that off with a quick trip to Consumer Reports. A blend of the two above sources has never steered me wrong in 40 years of car buying. I typically buy Toyota/Honda/Mazda/Subaru and sometimes Nissan (Datsun).

Looks like a grown-up version of the Toyota Corolla S. Maybe the Camry XSE is the car for those who are ready to move up from the Corolla S. I admire your restraint, Roman. It would be easy to trash down the XSE because it doesn't do or feel the way you want it to or the way it should be. But, on the other hand, vehicles like the Honda Accord Sport or the Ford Fusion Titanium give you much more driving involvement than the XSE while giving you all the convenience and reliability of the XSE. I think Toyota should have made the XSE a much more driver focus vehicle with some serious performance upgrades. They could have easily dipped into the TRD catalog to give this vehicle a real punch-in-the-face stance with some serious power. Toyota has plenty of regular Camry offerings that tens of thousands of people buy every month so they should have made the XSE a lot more special. But, it's only special for a Camry. Whoopie do! C'mon, Toyota. If anyone can come up with a true, family performance sedan (think Ford Taurus SHO) , it's your company! Let you hair down for once!

Have you ever driven a Camry XSE, Accord Sport and Fusion Titanium to jump to your conclusion?
@housepianist
@housepianist 10 жыл бұрын
Monsieur Africain No, I haven't. I've also never driven a BMW 7 series but I'm pretty positive that it's a better driving experience than my Honda Fit. Anyone can gather enough prevalent information about a vehicle based on reviews and articles without necessarily driving them, unless one is in the market to purchase one, in which case that person would actually test drive the vehicles in question. In the case of my comment, I was merely stating that there are vehicles in the same class as the XSE (or any Camry configuration) that are more involving as driver's cars. Most articles, reviews, comparos, short-term test, long-term test, and opinions that have been conducted over the months on these cars would seem to support my conclusion. As a side note, I have been a passenger in the vehicles I've discussed but that certainly doesn't qualify me as expert. Instead, I simply choose to rely on the number of those who have done the field work. And besides, Toyota knows that its Camry is not an exciting, driver-enthusiast car which is probably the reason the XSE was built.
@MalamIbnMalam
@MalamIbnMalam 10 жыл бұрын
Randall Collins From a scientific point of view then you should not be commenting on the Camry XSE in comparison to cars of the SAME class if you have not driven it yet. Your comparison between the Honda Fit and BMW 7 series makes no sense and is a horrible analogy. Kindly compare Apples to Apples. Every other reviewer except for TFL has commented on how sporty the XSE is. I actually think TFL is anti-Toyota. I' have been watching their videos and looking for slight hints of how they behave with Toyota made cars. They have a strong bias against Toyota.
@housepianist
@housepianist 10 жыл бұрын
It sounds like you're picking nits just because you can. If you don't understand what I'm trying to say, or don't agree with me, that's fine. Whatever makes you feel better. From reading what you've posted on this topic, it sounds like you like Toyotas and that's great. However, every reviewer, commenter, etc., is not going to feel the way you do. And besides, anyone can write articles and shoot vlogs about car facts and figures. What we also want to know, and perhaps the primary reason we watch these shows, is because we want to know what they THINK. That's why we watch TFLcars. And because of that, some will agree and others won't. Oh, well. Also, you completely missed my BMW/Honda reference. I was merely saying that you don't need to do an in-depth analysis of everything you do or want to be "qualified" for an opinion. If my opinion is wrong to you, it's wrong. If TFL is "wrong" about what they say about the XSE, they're "wrong". Oh, well. Now, I could be interested in your "scientific point of view" that draws the conclusion that "every other reviewer" thinks the XSE is sporty, but that sounds way too exhaustive! Anyway, I'm done with this subject. Feel free to criticize it. Have a good day.

The Camry is a great car indeed. The 2.5L has plenty of pep and the new body styling is absolutely gorgeous. I sometimes think that the "guru's" that rate this car are to critical of the fun meter. In 2017, Toyota will put Valvematic in their engines in most of their lineup, mainly 4 cylinder models. This way they would probably eliminate the use of direct injection system used by other competitors for fuel efficiency and power. Valvematic is used in the 2014 and above Toyota Corolla Eco models in the U.S. Other countries also have Valvematic in their 4 cylinder Toyota vehicles.

When you stack this up against the 2015 Hyundai Sonata Sport 2.0T I have to say the Sonata wins. Yes the turbo is down quite a bit, (Which boggles my mind honestly).. but in my opinion.. which is just an opinion.. the Sonata Sport 2.0T looks quite a lot better on the exterior as well as the interior. It just looks more sporty. Some people say the 2015 Sonata looks boring compared to the 2014 but to me I think its a dramatic improvement to an already great looking sedan. Another thing.. if you look on auto trader and try to find the 2015 Toyota Camry XSE under $22000 it isn't possible... you can find some for just under $24,000 but you can find at least 36 or more 2015 Sonata Sport 2.0T's for under $22,000 so I would say I would have to go with the Sonata. Coming this memorial day I'm hunting for a deal. This is no way is meant to bash the Camry.. its a great car.. but for the money and my taste, the Sonata is where I'm looking

Upgraded interior materials on the dashboard, interior door panels, seating,carpeting, added stitching to the interior and additional sound insulation because the prior model had been cut down from the one prior to that. In addition there are now 1500 more spot welds to the unit body making a more solid structure and revisions to the steering for faster and more accurate response. All suspensions at every trim level have been re-tuned. All exterior body panels are new except for the roof panel. It's a great daily driver. Toyotas are the most reliable cars manufactured brand as a whole and cost little to maintain. I've known people to get over twenty years completely trouble free service from them including my own mother. My friend had one that didn't start one morning and all that it needed was to have the contact wire leading to the starter tightened. Of course not all are that completely reliable but overall they are the most practical headache free car to own. I've never personally had one but I often kick myself for not. Though I don't have trouble with my cars myself I regret not purchasing Toyotas when it comes time to trade because of depreciation. Also Toyota's financing allows you to trade in after one year and purchase another new Toy at 1% interest under their loyalty program.

The rear of this car looks very similar to the 2014 Lexus ES (probably the same die cut even) I prefer the styling of the previous generation, and I think it is interesting to point out that based on model, the interior of the cars haven't all changed that much. Lower trims have the same gauge cluster as the 2014 Camrys, which means no screen with all the new features. Lots of features grabbed from the Avalon including that center screen display, wireless charging, lane departure, the buttons on the steering wheel, general design and price point make me wonder what's coming for the Avalon in the future.

I don't know. Without the attitude and occasional condescending chuckling, Mica's review comes off as fair (especially when compared to car enthusiast reviewers who seem to believe that family sedans should drive like sports cars). But the attitude and chuckling are there. So what's the deal? Is he amused by his own conclusions? Is he just trying to cover himself as far as the car enthusiast crowd, giving off an almost apologetic vibe, working to give the impression that he was forced to lower himself and drive the Camry?

True. My brother has a WRX but Im thinking more midsize to large sedan. These cars have the same footprint as a minivan (for most minivans are based on their sedan counterparts.).The WRX is a beast though even if it isnt the Sti version. Did the recent Maxima get a CVT too?? I have a 2000 when they still offered the 5 spd manual and automatic options.

some of you forget this is a review, you can offer your opinion but I'm sure many will disagree with your point as well. thus, leave the negativity at the door and stop watching tflcar or truck if it upsets you that much... IMO. BTW, I own a 2015 accord and switched from being a loyal Toyota fan because I wanted an inexpensive 4 door manual transmission car. I would go with the Avalon over camery if I had the choice but still camery sells regardless of our opinions.

Sure, the Camry is successful. But there is one thing that bothers me: from what I can tell, Toyota has dropped the quality in the last 10 or so years. A 2005 Camry is actually quieter than the current-gen in my experience.

I think all of you are full of sh*t. I owned a 2003 Camry XLE, fully loaded, and now a 2014 XLE. I haven't noticed any drop in quality at all. The new one is way, way quieter than the 5th gen. Perhaps you tried the SE model, which tends to be a rougher ride because of the suspension compared to the LE or XLE models.

***** That I can agree with. Material was poor, but the powertrains were fine in my experience. Also, it was a particularly bad generation for every midsize except Mazda in terms of material quality. I drove a 2011 Accord and a Civic and they had more plastic than a middle aged woman in Hollywood.

no toyota didnt drop its quality. today, it is the same shit 2005 quality, engine and transmission u can found on ur 2005 camry!!!!! it is just people start realizing that american cars like new 200, fusion and the malibu, also other brand like the mazda 6 are getting so much better and even superior than the camry in many points. So, for those ppl who want to get what they paid for or ppl who is willing to do some researches on cars, they will choose other brands over the toyota. Toyota is not good now and those who doesnt know any knowledge about cars will just blindly believe what their friends told them 10 years ago and buy the toyota even it is not worth it. For reliability, sure they are better because they hv way less features compares to others, Less features means less chance to fail. it is like ur nokia and iphone, if I sell u nokia 6310 or an iphone 6 for 500 bucks now, will u choose a nokia because it is more reliable???

I don't know how to feel the about this 2015 model. I agree with a Camry not being a sports car, but this one looks like the corolla big sister. I'm a little disappointed with the looks. Wished it could look a little more neutral or luxurious instead of sporty. That's what the damn Corolla is for. It's like the sequoia model they messed that one up.

im a toyota fan, own a camry,,so i hope they fixed the WEAK soggy brake pedal, the late throttle response(which even slow drivers hated) and the sluggish steering. disappointed they RESTYLED the car and still used hand-me-down ENGINES...but the new STANDARD safety features and interior were great, but mechanically,idk, i need to test drive 1

IMO, Toyotas don't belong in NASCAR. American sport for American cars. And before anyone says "but Toyotas are built in America." This may be true, but where do all the profits go when you buy a Toyota? Back to Japan. There's not a darn thing wrong with that. Im not xenophobic or anything like that, I actually love a few Japanese cars, but they do not belong in an American sport. But I'm just a biased American, so I suppose my comment is irrelevant.

Excellent look, most comfortable seats, but most of all, Toyota knows how to make good quality cars. My parents gave me 2001 camry and neither them nor I ever had any problems. All I did was changing oil, brakes, tires, that's it! My wife's Hyundai fell apart in less than 6 years and it was at mechanics every year after two years. Before Toyota I had Ford and I said never ever again no matter what:)

It does look aggressive and kinda liking the looks a bit but its a "Camry." Hey everybody, I drive a Camry! Thats a turn off. We live in a world where everything you buy says something about you, and the world sees the Camry (and corolla) as an "Old people car." If they wanted to make a new gen of this, should've made it more elegant cause us young people don't want to buy a "Camry"

Newsflash: most people don't care what you drive. You can go broke trying to impress people who just don't give a rat's behind. If anyone does mock what you drive, just tell them they can buy whatever they feel you should have and you'll gladly drive it. It shuts them up...trust me.

I test drove one of these yesterday. It's sad. the only thing this thing accomplishes is giving you a rougher ride than the regular Camry. It actually handles turns worse than a regular Camry. And it has a JBL sound system. JBL? Must be good...Uh, no it isn't. It doesn't get loud and the sound quality isn't that great. A radio that won't get loud is almost useless. The salesman explained that these JBL speakers use half the power of regular speakers. So, what is the point? The V6 is okay, but a bit slower than the other V6's I have driven. There is one good thing about this car- the interior. It looks very nice including the instrument cluster. So, basicly what you get by spending thousands more on this car besides the horrible Camry headroom and poor Camry handling, is even worse handling and a rougher ride. Toyota has a lot of work to do on the Camry and this XSE shouldn't have even entered the assembly line. I am 44 years old and I am actually thinking about a Corolla. The new Corolla is everything a Corolla is supposed to be and more.

Camry is a good car but that car is just ok. The best looking camry to is the 2007-2011 se very slick car. Also I why petal shifters on an automatic totally sucks. But I prefer a manual car anyway and the thing is most manufactures has went away form manual or only put it in their base model car but I think the styling is going down every new design since 2011. But the cystis my opinion.
