The Sedona, a minivan for people who don't need a minivan.

I love both of these vans. A couple of years ago I rented a Sienna for 2 weeks while on vacation. I loved, Loved, LOVED it. A year or two later I rented another minivan for 2 weeks, but this time ended up with a Sedona. At first I was disappointed that I didn't get another Sienna, but after 2 weeks I thought, "Dang, this thing is pretty sweet. I love it almost as much as the Sienna." That's saying something, because I loved that Sienna. All things being equal, I would choose the Sienna because I feel it's a little better in all regards. But the Sedona has my respect .... it's darn good.

I drove the new Kia Sedona SXL, and it feels and drives like a luxury car. I like it better than the Sienna.

I don't know, I'd choose the Sedona over the Sienna. The Sedona scored better on the small overlap crash test, has a longer warranty, and has more features for the money. I am on my second Sedona right now, and both have been very good to my family and I. The Kia dealers here in my area are also a lot better than the Toyota dealers.

Those KIA designers (Which are former Audi designers) are using so many Audi styling points. You could re-badge that KIA with an Audi and you wouldn't know it. The 2nd row in the Sedona is badass!

The reviewer is clearly a Toyota Sienna fanboy and I can understand why, it is a very good car and I totally agree that the power train of the Sienna is excellent. I know that because I too have a 2007 Toyota Sienna and I love it as well. At 170,000 my Sienna has never let me down and the power train is fantastic. Having said that, "As hard as Kia's engineers tried"? They didn't try anything, they did something and they did it REALLY well. I just bought me a 2020 Kia Sedona EX. This thing looks like Audi engineers designed the darn thing. The suspension from my new Sedona is very smooth. The difference I see and feel is that when you go over certain types of unexpected sharp bumps the Sedona feels a little more rough, and that does not mean is bad, is just that it is more stiffer and that's why it has a more sportier grippier feel. I can also only assume that the 18" wheels AND the type of tires have something to do on how it feels when going over certain rough surfaces. What I do is simply exactly what I would do if I was driving a sports car, slow down before you get to the bump. Is a different mini van design that's all. The MPG in the city is all the same compared to all other mini vans so that does not affect me in a bad way because that's where I drive most of the time. I'm not going to pay thousands more to get a minivan with better highway MPG. Should Kia fix this and make their next Sedona much more efficient? Definitely yes! I look at it this way, my new Kia Sedona has the exact same specs as my existing Toyota Sienna and I have never complained about my Sienna and whenever I have traveled far away on highways where there is no traffic I have gone pretty far with my Sienna so I am not complaining about the Kia Sedona MPG. In reality it is not a big deal and that is not a reason for car reviewers to put the Kia Sedona down. Room for MPG improvement is needed for sure but the Sedona is a minivan that rocks. I seriously doubt I will get another Toyota Sienna due to current high prices that I simply cannot afford and I do see myself continuing with the Sedona for years to come. Unless my Sedona gives me serious issues in the near future then I will change brand but other than I'm in love with the Sedona's design. The guy from the video prefers that ugly bus looking front panel layout in the Sienna, okay so be it I guess everybody has different taste ;-)

1 sienna = reliable workhorse period .... 2 oddessey = they burn oil and have the worst transmission " Honda in general " 3 Sedona = focus on reliability and safety and not speed and horsepower.

You do realize Toyota is much more notorious for oil burning especially than Honda’s.(many Toyota’s have actually had recalls due to oil burning) Honda transmission issues was years ago. Don’t forget Toyota’s sticky gas pedal issue years ago too!

Toyota cheaped out the tail lights on the 2015 Sienna. They went from LEDs on the 2011-2014 models to whatever is on the back of the 2015. Anyways, for this comparison, I'd take the Sedona. It looks better (Sienna SE looks ok (more feminine if you ask me), but I would rather have a more loaded XLE than the sparsely equipped SE), you get more features for the money and it received a good rating in the small overlap crash test as opposed to the acceptable rating the Sienna received. However, all in all, both of these have nothing against the king of minivans, the Honda Odyssey. Odyssey just does about everything right and the ergonomics and safety are best in class.

made a deal today at KIA Brossard. get $2000 rebate, free winter tires, all season mats, 10 year warranty, the interest rate is 0.99 on 5 years. it's a great deal. i've been to toyota and honda, the salesmen did't have much room for negotiation. The sedona drives so well, feels like a premium car! love it.

drove both this weekend before renting a minivan to go to Disneyland, went for the Kia, we can all say that yes Kia tried so hard but to my honest opinion it did greater then others for the buck, yeah might not have better cargo cubic space or a higher price awd model but to be realistic they are minivans not a suv or truck to go off-road nor to carry your whole baby supplies from your baby's room, but each to there own,like I said I tried both and being that I was more confident with the Sienna I went instead for the Sedona, very comfy, felt very lux driving it, didn't even feel like a minivan but more like a full size SUV at a lower height, forgot to mention that the rental had a full second row "bench" seat witch fits 8 passengers, checking out the prices best believe I'm looking forward financing one in the near future

oh and btw they did a great job not going for that half ass style of having the dam shifter on the dash board near the stereo but instead for the more useful center console....something that all auto makers have blown out there ass for the past few years with their minivan segment

might want to check the crash scores again. iihs have the Sedona top pick + and a good overlap score, the sienna gets acceptable. to get top pick + you need good on all plus more stuff.

Kia has bad fuel economy because of the 19 inch rim while Sienna gets slighter smaller rim size which does affect the fuel economy. SX version of Sedona does offers 18/25 MPG which is same as Sienna 2WD.

2005 base model dodge grand caravan. long wheelbase, 3.3L v6 and a 4 speed auto. for me, a van is best when it is compared base model to base model. a fully loaded van with all the toys can be a great distraction from the afterthought. i dont love the dodge van i mentioned, but it is damn good at doing what is does best. cheap, mass transport.

Actual data does not support your claim that Sienna has more legroom second row and headroom in the third row than Sedona. Please check the brochures for the two cars. Sedona's headroom no sunroof 39.8/39.4/38.9 ( comparing Sienna's headroom no sunroof 41.0/39.7/38.3 ), Legroom 40.9/41.1/34.8 ( comparing to Sienna's 40.5/37.6/36.3).
