Today I told my wife to upgrade her 08 Yaris Sedan for a 2019 Civic or something, her words "I don't feel like getting a new Car, mine stills feels like new and I like it a lot" and honestly, that Car has never given us any trouble in over 11 years... yes is not powerful, the only thing my Wife says it would be nice to have is the Bluetooth connectivity back in 2008 economy Cars didn't have that feature.

Seems like a nice little car. 100 hp in a small car like this is just fine, especially when it's a proven, bulletproof power plant. Manual is the way to go.
@Motorsportsgeek2 жыл бұрын
@blacknester Def not more reliable. You have twice the amount of things to break, much heavier so its not as nimble or fuel-efficient. In such a small car, you don't need a hybrid for fuel efficiency, people are reporting close to 50mpg in these without the hybrid. You want the lighter, more simple gas engine than the heavier more complicated hybrid.

I have to admit, I'm liking the new looks that Toyota has been putting on their vehicles lately. This car looks great, though I think it needs at least a 6 speed automatic transmission and a little more power behind the wheels, but I guess you know the saying. If it isn't broke, don't fix it

Really good in-depth, slow-paced review. You get a good feel for being in the car - and that is a brilliant idea to 'hear' the engine sound from inside, outside, hood up, and out back of the tail pipe. Even a few years later, this model hasn't changed much (in Australia, anyway) and so this review is still relevant and useful. Also appreciate your review style of being rational and moderate, rather than the off-handed and heavy-handed 'social media style' commentary where strong and opinionated remarks are often made by people who (often enough) don't even have the depth of knowledge to be doing the review in the first place:). Good work. Thanks!

***** the old version of honda cvt, was boring. I just test drove a Honda Hr-v 2016, and it compaires easily to the same one that toyota uses, and it also simulates gears, the older version wouldn't do that.. the only bad thing about a cvt, is high rpms, you think to your self do I left off the gas, why isn't it changing gears. Why is it reving so high. But the car will learn you, and the way you drive
@samlarkin18109 жыл бұрын
Cvts are good in some circumstances but I would much prefer to feel the car changing gears rather then hear it screaming it's head off but you're right, they are different and I recently learned that some have "gears" to make it feel sportier (I think the Corolla zr does)
@djclown7pb9 жыл бұрын
Yea the corolla s has simulated gears, so does the hr-v by honda.. they are fun to go find one to test drive. I would get a new cvt, if I had to again. I would only get one that I could change gears tho... other wise I'd hold out or get a 6 speed

From a 3 wheeled India made death trap to a new AMG s65 that's not even available yet....Kyle has probably tested any car or truck u want to see... He has fuck loads of variety...like me I have a roadmaster wagon, a new vw jetta tsi and a town and country van. Iike all kinds of cars...I actually test drove a manual se yaris a week ago for me daughter and the car sold the same day. This car with a manual is a blast. It's peppy and the fact it's not overpowered makes you shift the slickest manual out there often! I liked it better than a honda fit because it's 5 gear is better suited for 80 mph freeway runs. The fit is screaming at 80-85. People need to give this car a small chance. It will surprise you!

I drive a Toyota Yaris VVTI 1.3 petrol engine from 2002. It has approx 137000 km (+85000 miles) and I wouldn't trade it for the world ! The engine runs extremely smoothly and the gearbox still operates like a knife through butter. Never broke down on me, and the mileage is very reasonable for such and "old" car. In Belgium, a new Yaris lets you choose out of 4 engines : 1.1 or 1.3 petrol, a 1.4 diesel and also a hybrid version (1.5 petrol + electric motor). If I had to change cars, I would choose for the hybrid version. My wife drives a Toyota Auris Hybrid for 2 years now, and we have extremely good mileage for a 1.8 petrol engine (3.9 liters for 100 km) and the Auris drives like a dream... Maybe Toyota does not make the most exiting cars, but hey are extremely reliable.

Viktor Freesmeier That's an interesting choice. I've never driven the fiesta, but I also need to drive the Fit, Mazda2, etc. I wouldn't buy an automatic Yaris, but it's very roomy for what it is. Even though the manual has 5 speeds, from what I remember from my Fiesta ST video, the Yaris has more passenger room. I'd have to drive them to really make my decision.

Great little car. Toyota will sell every one that they make. Great review Kyle! Quick question tho. As thorough as you are with every review you make, I've noticed a change. I'm not bitching and it might be only me that noticed it but you're not detailing certain items and some items aren't even mentioned. With the Silverado review recently: it's a Z71. While that may not always guarantee 4-wheel drive, nowhere in the description or in your video is it specified if this truck is a 4x4 or or 4x2. I had to pause the video at a shot of the dash and look for the 4WD selector. Found it and then I knew. With this Yaris review: little more in-depth on the navigation of the radio. Looks like it had navigation but that it's a feature the user has to select within the "Apps" menu? I saw what looked like a map in a shot or two. Was that also a cruise control switch beneath the spokes of the steering wheel? Looked like the corporate Toyota cruise dongle, but wasn't sure. Just wondering what's up lately.

***** , in saying it's just a simple torsion beam and implying they can't be tuned, you're missing a lot there. First off, if you're going to improve handling on a FWD, a rear swaybar can go a long way to adding some rotation back there. Secondly, there are plenty of performance-tuned torsion beam suspensions out there in todays day and age. To list a few hopped-up economy cars with torsion beams: -Fiesta ST -Fiat 500 Abarth -Renault Megane RS -Vauxhall Astra VXR The Yaris even has an after market with multiple manufacturers for added bracing and upgraded swaybars. A torsion beam is an inexpensive and space-efficient form of suspension, and isn't always a hindrance. The GTi had them up until the MkV, as have many other fine handling FWD's. The Yaris has room for more, I can promise you that.
@saabkyle049 жыл бұрын
Harvey Duncan Oh I completely agree! I've even driven the abarth quite a bit. No matter how you slice it, a torsion beam is a very simple alternative to a independent suspension (multilink, double wishbone, ect). Sure, a lot can be done to it, and there's nothing wrong with that, but I wasn't implying it was outdated, inferior or anything like that, but than you for explaining your reasoning!
