Bought mine last year. First Bike after some years away. Love the Looks, riding position and Handling for the sort of riding i do in south Germany. I have the Standard Pipes so the sound is disappointing, and the Front Brake does not inspire confidence. But no regrets at all And i love opening the garage door and seeing her.

2 years ago, I lived in Amersham and bought a Triumph America with the same engine characteristic and thereby also the lovely sound. Perfect for the Chiltern area's twisty back roads (oh I miss them...). Took the machine with me back to Denmark and I'm still loving every single mile on it.

+TheMissendenFlyer Yes you should definitely do that. I'll be more than happy to arrange a half a day's summer ride out and show you Denmark as it looks in my part of the country. You could make it a convenient stop on a longer trip to fantastic Norway - and do a Scandinavian Tour ??

Took my Street Triple in for its 6K service today and this was the bike they loaned me. I have to say i was pleasantly surprised!! Absolutely love the look of the machine, and it was a comfortable, smooth ride too. Could really see myself riding around on a summers sunday afternoon 'posing' as you say!

It's a fun bike to ride (I had the army green one), I did 9 days through Scotland with it.. but for adventures like that, it breaks your body by the end of the day. The rear shocks are too stiff, the seat is pretty hard. But it was my first bike so it will always have a place in my heart. Easy to ride, also for the pillion. People will look at you when riding one, that's a fact.

I really need to get the Arrow put on mine! Great review. I've had mine for 3 months now and am very happy with it. My only real grumble is the fuel light. It's crap and very indecisive when it starts to come on. I'd much rather have a fuel gauge. Otherwise, it's great fun and I'm looking forward to customising it.

Speaking as a chap of advancing years who rode a '68 Triumph Tiger 90 in my youth, the lack of a fuel gauge and poor front brake are absolutely retro; you should try a single leading shoe front drum on a damp day!! All it needs to be totally authentic is a sticking clutch, kick start and a petrol tap. :))

It's not you, I've got a scrambler and the fuelling can be a bit snatchy at slow speeds, a few mods to the air box/air injection system and a TTP remap sorts that out and adds hp to boot. I shall be doing it to mine this winter. Great review as always, but I will add if you fancy buying a new air cooled triumph twin, I'd get in quick. Apparently due to EU regs the classic twins are going to be 1100 liquid cooled engines.

+Ben 1022 Hi Ben - thanks for the heads up, actually once I'd ridden her for a bit I didn't find it too bad at low speeds, the clutch on this particular machine had a very high biting point compared to what I'm used too and that made it a bit tricky early on in the ride. ...and yes I've read guesses about the forthcoming range in MCN, will be interesting to hear what they come up with, a 270 degree 1100 would sound kind a special ;0)

I'm going to ride the Trans America Trail next year and my current bikes aren't up to it. My Bonneville T120 is too road oriented and too heavy. And my Yamaha TW200 is a bit too under powered and under suspended. I'm giving some serious thought about a Triumph Scrambler. Might still be a bit too big and heavy for some of the more technical off road sections, but I'm not sure. I'm completely happy with the quality of my Bonneville and if the Scrambler is anywhere near as nice as my Bonnie I may just do it.

The Bonneville has to be an all round favourite british bike, just wishing it wasn't so heavy and you didn't have to invest so heavily in after market parts to lighten the load.

I’ve just bought this version with a scorpion exhaust kit, and the plate gets very hot, burns my leg through jeans if it get too close. Can anyone recommend a different plate cover which may stop the heat from the exhaust getting through? The bike is awesome though, find the front brake fine, perhaps not as responsive as some but no gripes. No fuel gauge or gear gauge, appreciating the old school feel

I ride a Valkyrie and I'm looking for an additional bike that can run on 'mild' off tarmac roads here in North Yorkshire. Like the look and sound of this bike but would like to see it used off road. The tyres look more like road-bias ones like Metzler Tourances to me - would like to see what I could do with better knoblies like Continental TKC80's...... I guess there's a limit to what you can do on a test bike...
@TheMissendenFlyer
@TheMissendenFlyer 8 жыл бұрын
Hi Steve, yeah, I don't think the dealer would have appreciated me green-laning their demo bike! The scrambler looks the part but I think it would be too heavy for serious off-road use, more of a fashion thing than a practical proposition I reckon...great bike though, I really like 'em....

Yeah i hate the place for the key. I was watching it flip all around when you was riding. Because we never carry just one key. Need house key to get back in our homes. If not then we have to carry 2 sets of keys. On my 2005 Honda VTX they did this also, So yes i just carry the one key for the bike, and another set for all my other stuff. I have a little blue shark bottle opener with the motorcycle key, so i dont lose them if i drop them.
@TheMissendenFlyer
@TheMissendenFlyer 8 жыл бұрын
+Jojo Gun Fang Yes good point, I guess Triumph are doing this for "retro" reasons but having the ignition on the side isn't very practical....but to be fair having more than one key on your fob on any bike is always a recipe for getting things scratched (so I only have one key on separate fobs for each of my bikes). Thanks for stopping by - all the best - TMF.

+Ann Myers Hi Ann, the Bonnie's are famously low so I reckon it would work a treat for you - that said the Scrambler is slightly taller than the standard bike (for added ground clearance) so best to go and sit on one. The suspension is quite soft so I reckon you'll be ok....good luck with it, great bike! All the best - TMF

isn't the arrow exhaust not road legal? I want to get one but I'm worrying what it would mean for my insurance riding around with a "non road legal" exhaust
@TheMissendenFlyer
@TheMissendenFlyer 9 жыл бұрын
+AnOddGamerChannel ...I'm not sure why they have that stamped on, I think all my exhausts are marked similarly but I've never had an issue with the law or at MOT time.....I wouldn't worry about it (but for your own peace of mind do some googling).....
@AnOddGamerChannel
@AnOddGamerChannel 9 жыл бұрын
+TheMissendenFlyer From what I have read its the MOT testers discretion whether or not they pass. Its more an issue with the pipes invalidating your insurance... since they're "not street legal' it invalidates your insurance... Bloody insurance is such a pain in the arse
@TheMissendenFlyer
@TheMissendenFlyer 9 жыл бұрын
+AnOddGamerChannel ...I always tell my insurance company that I have after market exhausts fitted, they never ask what type or if they are stamped "not road legal"....but I do agree with your last statement 100%
@AnOddGamerChannel
@AnOddGamerChannel 9 жыл бұрын
+TheMissendenFlyer I imagine its never going to be an issue either as long as you dont have to claim. Hopefully I'll never have to claim.... but knowing my luck I'll be the plonker who gets rejected insurance because of the bloody exhaust. Well thanks for replying anyway, if you know of any other decent exhausts for the scrambler it would be much appreciated? Trying to get the dealer to throw one in on a purchase, they agreed to the arrow exhaust before I found out about this "not for road use" malarkey

Is it a heavy bike? You didn't mention it
@TheMissendenFlyer
@TheMissendenFlyer 8 жыл бұрын
Did I not??? How remiss of me - yes it is relatively heavy, but the seat is so low it's not an issue when slow speed riding as you can flat foot it if necessary and therefore you have bags of confidence on it. Once riding, like with most bikes, the weight just disappears and isn't an issue...

Interesting, I would have said the Thruxton... (purely based on reviews). I own a 2015 Daytona 675R, i've had very little exposure to the other Triumphs...be interested to hear your thoughts on the Ducati Scrambler also.
@TheMissendenFlyer
@TheMissendenFlyer 9 жыл бұрын
+Benjay1975 Your Daytona is poles apart from the Bonneville range if my Street Triple is anything to go by - the only thing you'll recognise is the switchgear! I've not been tempted to try the Ducati Scrambler - I have seen one up close and sat on one at a dealer but to my eye it seems too small, almost toy like, and not quite retro-enough - it's really a modern bike with a nod to the past, rather than a full on homage too it like the Triumphs are. It's a personal thing but this particular Ducati didn't do it for me (though the reviews suggest it is a good machine).....
@CoopHenderson
@CoopHenderson 9 жыл бұрын
+TheMissendenFlyer I feel the exact same way about the Ducati! It seems like the anti-Triumph. I would buy it with my brain, but it doesn't tug at my heart the way the Bonnies do.
@TheMissendenFlyer
@TheMissendenFlyer 9 жыл бұрын
+Cooper Henderson That's it exactly - nothing wrong with the Ducati on paper, just doesn't quite work for me and my heart would leap a little more if I opened the garage to see the Triumph....

two things I've noticed about many riders are that they seem to be very bothered about not having a fuel range indicator and a gear indicator.....that's absolutely nonsense! We humans have something called brains which allows us to remember things such as mileage(from the last time we pumped fuel in the tank) and we can also feel the bike in able to know in what gear we're riding. Those two things are no good reason to not enjoy riding on a bike. Makes me remember of a friend who would not go on a long trip because he didn't have a GPS!!! What a dumbass!
