I think they are limited to these sort of documentaries for the U.S. Opens broadcasted by Fox, which is why the earliest one of this sort of film is 2015, the first year Fox took over.

my dad had messed up his knee a few weeks before this event so i was over helping him out. he is not a golf fan. however the two of us watched nearly every second of coverage for this us open as we live in the seattle area. was a great spring and early summer with him. sucks how we got there but between this, the NBA playoffs, and the NHL playoffs, it was awesome

I'm hoping since they redid all 18 greens with poana that the USGA will bring the U.S Open back as the layout lends itself for some exciting finishes.

At majors most the Pros have been complaining about the greens or depth of rough or pin placements since forever.(usually their not the winners) I'm hoping the new greens retain the hardness and characteristics of the fescue. It’s never too late to start anything but of course it would’ve helped to start earlier. Can’t live regretting those things though as you are exactly where you need to be. Golf wasn’t something you were gonna do back then so be thankful you’re enjoying it now 😁. Just my 2 cents. Good luck out there!

I played this course a few days after it opened and, though not a great golfer in any respects, it literally kicked my ass. A 6 hour round is rarely heard of in my world. One thing I learned for sure, never try to hit out of the long grass. Just take your stroke penalty and move on. I tested this logic and got a triple par (9) on a par 3 on six.

This was by far my favorite US Open. I know a lot of folks were griping about the course, but I thought it was stunning. Now, having said that, I don't think I'd want to have to walk this course with a heavy golf bag on my shoulder. I feel bad for the caddies. Must have been a rough week for them, especially if the weather was hot (can't recall if it was). I don't mind a long, hilly course, but long walks from green to tee just isn't fun. Not a fan of using golf carts, but I think if I ever have the chance to play here, I'll get one. I am sure the DJ fans are upset by the outcome of this, but for those of us who root for Spieth, this was simply the greatest Sunday of golf that I've ever witnessed (worth mentioning that the Monday 2008 playoff was probably the best golf I've seen). I hope they bring the US Open back to Chambers Bay. Also, cheers to the USGA for putting this together and putting it on youtube. These are really great to watch.

@@tylerstrickland1010I live in Tacoma WA. The USGA forced Chambers Bay to dry the hell out of the course to make it harder. This went so far that the greens were in danger of dying and they needed to over water them, which lead to the inconsistent growth. For some reason the USGA didn't understand you cant treat Pacific NW courses the same way you would treat California or Florida courses. Chambers Bay is a phenomenal and gorgeous course, if they picked Bandon Dunes, the result would have been the exact same. Also a lot of the negativity comes from that infamous Gary Player rant... Lets all remember that Gary Players firm LOST the bid to build the Chambers Bay golf course back in 2006. Just food for thought.

​@@jpreyes1028 the open is easier to win than the masters. I say that because the fairways are firm as hell (meaning tons of roll) and the greens are slow. Yes they're firm but the slowness takes all the sting out of the firmness. I know there are pot bunkers in the open but worst case scenario, you have to lay it back short of the bunkers. At Augusta, the fairways are soft, meaning less rollout, and the greens are so unreal fast. Also, there is penalty for missing fairways at Augusta. Trees and pine straw everywhere. Yes Tiger knows Augusta better than anyone, but that never guarantees you a win.

Given the harsh reaction given to Chambers Bay during and following the 2015 U.S. Open, it's quite possible that it's going to be a long time before a significant event is held there, if another is ever going to be held there. As infamous as Chambers Bay became as a result of the 2015 U.S. Open, it's possible there might never be another significant event held there.

We'll see what happens once the USGA gets through with the alterations they're sure to make on that golf course, as they do with every course that hosts a U.S. Open. Given their history of tricking up golf courses for the U.S. Open, they're liable to do anything. I will say that, along with some of what the USGA did with the setup at Chambers Bay, Mother Nature certainly didn't do Chambers Bay or the USGA any favors with a prolonged heat wave and almost historically dry and windless conditions, which certainly affected how that course played during the 2015 U.S. Open.

It certainly turned out to be a great venue, though by U.S. Open standards, it may have played too easy as scores of records were set, though the weather certainly had something to do with that. For instance, more players reached double digits under par than in all the previous U.S. Opens combined, and seven finished double digits under par, as opposed to just two in all the previous U.S. Opens combined. There were four seven-under rounds of 65 shot, as well as Justin Thomas' record nine-under 63 in the third round. In addition, Steve Stricker set a 72-hole record for senior golfers. It certainly didn't play out like the USGA wanted it to (it played more like a PGA Championship than a U.S. Open), but in the end, it did accomplish the USGA's goal of identifying the best player in the world for that particular week.

Spieth was extremely lucky to win this particular Major, DJ should have won this. What is interesting, is DJ has dealt admirably with the adversity of losing and finishing second, he is now the 2020 Masters Champion, how will Spieth deal with the adversity of losing form and barely making the cut in many tournaments, everything is easy when you’re winning, but how will the man handle adversity and poor form? Only time will tell. For me DJ has far more grit and determination than Spieth, who seems to melt under presssure.

GolfandFish There is a great book out that describes how the USGA encourages making a course truly evil for the open, back in Sam Sneads day they would grow the roughs up like wheat and narrow the fairways, on other courses they rolled the greens so they stimped at 15 or over. The open is supposed to be the ultimate test.
