I have a 05 Honda CBR600RR and I have to agree completely. I had this bike for about 2 years and about 23K and still no major problems, just basic oil and tire replacement. I personally do not like the look of the newer 600RR, it does look older and the nose is ugly. I wish it had the 1000RR look to be honest. People don't believe me when I say I have an 05, it looks a lot newer. Great post CC as always.

+CycleCruza I bought 2013 CBR 600RR little less than a month ago. It had been my dream bike for years. Yes she's my first bike but I rode bicycles from the age of 6 till my 20s lol. I just got on 800 miles today and I haven't crashed the bike cause I took your advice and for the first 560 miles I respected the throttle. At 565 miles I took her down on highway 77 and rev all the gears past 13krpm to finish breaking her in before first service. I'm extremely happy going Honda and I knew Honda was the best route anyways. My dad has been riding Honda and nothing but Honda for over 30 years and none of his bikes ever broke down or got him hurt in anyway. Thanks for the videos man! They're awesome and sometimes you make me laugh so hard it hurts lol. I'm an old guy BTW 33 and riding a supersport. CBR.. 600.. Double R :-)

Hey CycleCruza! You're totally right, Honda should be paying you, the bike remains unchanged since 2013 actually and that's the model I bought after watching you're reviews of the advantages of the 600RR for street use. Lots of time and research went into my choice of the CBR over the other big 4 models, but it was definitely you and you're fantastic vlogs that helped me make up my mind. MrPhipper I didn't realize what a convenient feature this was until everybody kept asking me how I painted my tank because most other bikes you have to painfully drain and remove the gas tank to have it painted which people say is a royal pain in the butt. I'm part of the very few that have the newer model. I live in a city in SoCal that has a high population of sport bike riders. I see the usual GSX-Rs, R6s, older CBR600RRs, 636s, BUT I've only seen 2 of the newer models cruising around since the bike came out 2 years ago. I wasn't a big fan of the way the newer models looked at first. Now I really love the look! The newer models look very sophisticated and not so radical like an R6. I really do enjoy my 2014 CBR600RR and often get compliments from strangers. I even get little kids waving from their parents car as they drive by. That's the good thing about getting a bike that not a lot of people see.

I love the red white and blue bike, 600 or 1000cc. John McGunniess rides one so that's cool too. Emissions can quickly be removed, and the HP brought back, so no big deal there. Some day I might get another nice light bike like the 600cc, but it'd be tough after owning a liter bike.

i've owned 2 - 2007 honda CBR600rr. 1 - 2013 cbr600rr, and I just bought a 2008 cbr600rr. the 07 - 08 has more HP. it's also much cheaper to fix, i ride ALOT of track days. I've got some serious horsepower added into my 2013, which is for sale. Its just too $ to crash. I love the 2013-16 aggressive front end looks, easier to put together, way better wheels, [potholes wont damage the rims] the newer front forks are DREAMY! Micheal Dunlop TOOK the IOM TT supersport tropies when Honda gave him the new 2013 cbr600rr! I'm going to add plenty more HP to my "new" 2008 Honda CBR600rr, as I finish building it now. they are great bikes. I cant say enough good things about them. the 2007/08 is the same bike all the way through to 2016. If you change the Air Duct and headlights you can ACTUALLY fully mount up a 2013 -16 kit on the Older bike (i did it when they were side by side). you buy the wheels, and you have the newer style with more Horsepower. i have a R6 which is for sale, yamaha bikes make no sense. the dumb things they do - for reasons I cant fathom are too many to list. it's also a FATTY. R6 = 357 lbs dry compared to the 07 - 16 Honda CBR600rr - 341 dry. my friend has a 07 GSXR, so many mechanical issues. Honda is the biggest auto-bike company in the world. if they want a certain price point on brakes from a supplier, they get it. I've owned 2 - 2007, 2 - 2008, 2 - 2005, 1 - 2013 CBR600rr. and 3 - Cbr1000rr's. also a ducati 1098, R6. i'll ride anything once.

Hey man love your vids ! I bought a 2013 cbr 600 and I wasn't a huge fan of them at first but then I saw one up close at a dealership and every time I looked at it , it kept growing on me... Lot of people don't like the front end.. and as you said it may seem to look old schoolish which I get .. but to me the headlights look like as if it's pissed off or something and Honda designed the headlights to direct more airflow to the intake ..as you would already know lol..but when you think about it...cars have been bringing back retro looks into their cars and the most noticeable parts are headlights and tail lights... Aka all the domestic American muscle cars...so to me I kind of got over that detail and thought it was a cool idea and different look for supersports.. I love the look of all super sports but I have always been a Honda guy .. anyways once again love your vids man ride safe man !

06-07 CBRs are my favorite looks of a bike EVER. I had to jump on mine the second I saw it (07 1000rr) and I get compliments everywhere I go, and no other bike I've ridden on makes me or my bike feel so sexy. I don't like the colorschemes of the newer cbrs, blue white and red? Nah. the 08- i think the 11??? had the wierd ass bugeyes in the front and it just turned it off for me. 06-07 reign supreme in looks and design IMO, and since people were bitching about the 04-05 motors having no balls, they packed the 06-07 with so much torque its godly. Only gripe about the CBR's is the ugly ass dash. Looks like it uses old school retro style dash from an old bronco but orange. I wish it had the dash of an R1 or a ZX10 style where it's all digital. I honestly think Honda has been losing fundings to do any of these mentioned, and honda has been known to be lacking in the horsepower department, even though it is ALL usable power. Put my bike in a straight line against a GSXR1000, maybe an R1 and I'm toast. Ergonomically Honda hands down has it, but alot of people go by numbers and if it's lacking it HP, they'll skip it.

Looks are subjective, we could all argue on which bikes look better but at the end of the day all that matters is the riding experience. Imo, I liked the looks of the previous gen cbr1000rr but much has been improved on the blade since then.

***** I had an 07 1KRR....bought it new....blacked it out....and it was beautiful. The bike was big was very powerful and handling was good too. You know....I said the same thing too about the 08 1KRRs when they came out....hated the looks...so what did I do??? I bought an 07 600RR cause of all of the rave reviews....love the amazing handling but missed the 1KRR power. THEN a few years later.....I had a chance to buy an 2008 1000RR Special Edition (Black) with all the mods I wanted and then some....I couldn't pass this up.......even though I didn't like the look of the stubby nose. AND I AM SO GLAD I DID!!!!!!!!!!! The 08 1KRR is an amazing bike.......Of course it had the power grunt of a 1000rr....but as many others have pointed out...it feels like a 600rr and handles like one too! I personally think it handles better and I have more confidence on it. Also, when people say....about the looks...how they don't like how the nose looks......but I will say look like others have said in the past....you have to see it in person.....the looks grew on me and I personally love that old school nose mixed with new school......it's awesome and I love it!!!!!! You should try the 08 and on up....I am glad I did.

TheBucsAnthem After reading what I said I will make a few changes, my buddy this year got a 08 1krr, and I will admit, the looks DID grow on me, at first I was like "meh, it looks alright" then the more i rode with him the more i liked the front end, and the thinner rear end with the side exhaust, looked pretty cool. And from what I said about my 1krr getting smoked by r1's or zx10's.. WRONG. With similar mods (Pipe, air filter, tune) i did 5 races with my buddies that own a 2005 GSXR1000, 2006 ZX10, and 2008 cbr1krr, and my 07 won everytime no problem and they have been riding longer then me. I didn't use a clutch to shift up and told them to do the same but I still walked them and it surprised me.
@TheBucsAnthem9 жыл бұрын
Hummmmmm........well your 07 1krr shouldn't have "walked them" sooooooooooo........either they are not very good on the track or you have tremendous riding skills. My 08 is modded out with the exception of the suspension.......and it's definitely not something for a beginner or for someone who cannot handle lots a power.......I've always modded out my bikes....and I will tell you that the 08 is still better than the 07 1krr as an overall package.......but each rider falls in love with their bikes......and at the end of the day

Another thing the new 2014 and 2015 bikes don't have, although not important, the tripage third eye. The light that sits in between the top portion of the head lights, near the wind screen. Thats one of my favorite things about the 2003-2010 cbr 600rrs. Im an avid lighting enthusiast as well, so if I get the cbr 60rr, the tripage third eye WILL be customized. The eye will be LED, and the head lights will be HID.

We bought 2010 600RR (American bike, actually, and only 2500 miles on the clock) for my girl (she still has her 696 Monster for now). It is a nice bike, feels agile even though it is 197kg wet (due to C-ABS, I would have bought ABS-less model, but my gf wanted ABS no question), quite abrupt in the corners though, leans, leans, then BOOM drops on the side. It surprised me in the hairpins with this behavior, but then maybe it was my fault, it was my first ride on it and it was 0C temperature, wet roads, and snow on the hills. Sounds very agressive, that exhaust, I like it. Big problem - load change behaviour. Cannot understand why Honda cannot adjust the freaking gas since years, on-off gas is very jerky. Now, I have an old but beloved 2002 CBR600F4i (RaceTech front, including valves, Wilbers shock etc) and it does not have that jerkiness even though the chain is on its last breath. Also, my 2014 Triumph Daytona 675 has no jerkiness whatsoever, amazingly smooth bike, a revelation in Swiss Alps (I drove 6000 miles there last year). BTW, 2010 Fireblade with full Bazzazz suit and custom tuned on dyno, it is jerky as well.... In any case, CBR600RR is a very nice machine, I hope my gf keeps it instead of Monster 696 which is good in the mountains, but pain in the city. CycleCruza, I suggest you try new Daytona 675. I am attached to CBR as well, but Daytona is much better bike in every respect (except seat hight, it you are short you will have problems).

Serge Go No problems with my 2008 cbr600rr, maybe that's something they did on the 09+ cbr600rr. I also own a 2012 cbr1000rr and it's throttle response is smooth as butter, however, on the 2012 they re-mapped the engine so that probably smoothed it out. I don't see myself getting anymore supersports, next bike I get in place of my cbr600rr will be some different type of bike this time. The 1000rr stays though.

@CycleCruza9 жыл бұрын
Cold World Looks are subjective, it's more about the riding experience and these bikes are the same bike so the riding experience will be the same. I highly doubt that Big Piston fork makes much of a difference, from what I heard it's not well suited to the bike. The old fork is great, a change was not needed.
@xsaber1019 жыл бұрын
Cold World CycleCruza is actually right. the old bikes look a lot nicer overall and i couldn't figure out why until these videos. I can't afford to pay insurance for a 600RR yet but hopefully in a few years they change the look in time for me to get one :)

I'm looking at a 2007 cbr600rr with 5.6k miles for $5,200 from a guy on craigslist. Fairings are mint, only mods are a slip on exhaust, flush signals and a fender eliminator.

HeroDanny Have it checked at a honda dealer to be sure it's in good shape.
@HeroDanny9 жыл бұрын
CycleCruza Ain't nobody got time for that. I am mechanically inclined I know if a motor is bad or not. + it's a honda so I believe in the engineering. I'm just going to drain the oil to make sure there's no shavings then i'll Test ride it and make sure everything runs properly, then i'll pull the trigger. Fairings alone are worth $2,500. I think i'll be alright :)
@mgelliott19 жыл бұрын
HeroDanny So can you do a leak down or compression check or determine valve adjustment issues by seeing if there are shavings in the oil? Is being mechanically inclined sufficient to make you an expert on the 600RR engine? I used to repair jet-engine helicopters in the Army and consider myself "inclined", but I still think CC's advice should be heeded. You may not have "time", but the first avoided walk home (or $1,000 repair bill) will more than make up for 1-2 hours at the motorcycle shop (where you will STILL end up if you can't figure out what is wrong and fix it yourself). You also can get an EVEN better price if the mechanic points out any serious issues.
@HeroDanny9 жыл бұрын
The closest honda dealer is literally 120 miles away... I've never had an issue with buying a bike on craigslist and i've bought tons of things. Yes his advice is good, but it's not necessary. Bottom line, my money, my decision. If I buy the bike and it throws a rod then i'll come back and let you say "i told you so".

I prefer my 08 CBR to the 15 CBR, The new CBRs are hideous in my opinion, they look too bulky and more like a slightly slimmed down VFR 800. How ever, here in NZ we don't have emissions restrictions like in the USA and the 2015 600rr pumps out about 126BHP.

One thing that disappoints me is that the newer CBR600rr is actually slower 0-60 than my sv650...
@thisisbenji908 жыл бұрын
+Jimmy Baggs It's hard to say, lots of times the 0-60 times that are published vary widely from test to test, even for the same bike. Sometimes they measure acceleration on a drag strip and other times it's ons one dusty abandoned road.
@TheMachRider8 жыл бұрын
+Jimmy Baggs Would be really surprised if that's the case. SV is quick to 60 but nothing after that. 600's will be decently quick and blow by an SV after that. SV compared to a 600cc would be similar to a 600cc vs a 750 or older 1000 on top end. That being said, 600RR's do 0-60 with a professional rider in about 3.0 seconds. SV's are generally half a second longer. Magazines post different times year to year. CBR is a faster bike, easily. That being said, SV's rip in the right hands. Less of a knock against the CBR and more of a good point for the SV.
@jimmybaggs53428 жыл бұрын
+TheMachRider I'm finding a wide range of numbers. Obviously a huge number of variables are present that aren't when testing a car. This source reports a 0-60 time of *3.5* seconds for the SV: www.cycleworld.com/2008/07/16/frugal-fuelers-suzuki-sv650-first-look/ This one quotes a 0-60 time of *3.36* for the CBR600RR: www.motorcycle-usa.com/2011/05/article/2011-honda-cbr600rr-street-comparison/ So even if the CBR is faster it may only by one or two hundredths of a second.
@TheMachRider8 жыл бұрын
Which is why the Sv is a great little bike. The Sv does start losing steam not much after 60 vs a 600 which doesn't really let off until closer to 100. The cbr is quite a bit quicker 0-120. I almost bought an Sv a while back, would have been good fun
@Clint_the_Audio-Photo_Guy8 жыл бұрын
I owned a SV650. It has more torque than any 600 supersport today up to 10,000 rpm. It no doubt gets out of the hole better. Mine ripped like crazy and would even break the rear tire lose on a quick snap of the throttle. It had a M4 Carbon pipe and the R6 throttle tube, but it was quick. It even sounded better than most Ducatis I heard. On a side note, I test rode a new Monster 1200 and the SV650 has more torque on the bottom than the Monster, no joke. The Monster had to be at 4,000 rpm before it pulled, the SV happily rode along well below that. Glad to see Suzuki bringing it back.

I think there is a limit to innovation. Why the r6 cannot change and why when the R1 changed they messed it up. Looks like a Transformer. CBR600 Yeah it does not have a slipper clutch. I have no hand issues with my r6. My bike has seat heat issues and it has no undertail exhaust. The heat comes from the exposed frame and It can get ugly.
@CycleCruza9 жыл бұрын
R6 needs a remake bad, still a nice-looking bike but that bike needs to get hip with some improvements already.Yamaha needs to increase the mid-range power on the R6, it's the only current 600cc that's all top end power.
@africanhistory9 жыл бұрын
CycleCruza The low end is not there, not sure about the mid. You get it up to 10K and you will get that much closer to the afterlife. I need to ride other bikes to compare. But some friends who ride Honda blade struggled when they tried to ride Yamaha R1, they said it is very unforgiving, us riding a Honda is very easy. But you become one with the bike. Even this wrist issue is not relevant when you are accustomed to the bike.

Cycle did you ever have your valves checked / adjusted on your '08? Honda manual calls to have them done at 16k but many riders say it's not necessary unless you suspect (hear) there's a problem.
@CycleCruza9 жыл бұрын
No, I called the local honda dealership to inquire about a valve adjustment at 18k miles and they laughed at me and said I don't need it done for a long time. There is a viewer of mine who had his checked at 35k and they were still in spec. My bike still runs like new at 22k miles. If it were a kawi, suzuki or anything else I would have had the valves checked. This is why I tell everyone to get a honda, they are the best built bikes and most reliable.

Daytona 675R or Ninja 636 ? what do u think guys which one is better
@ejazhusnan9 жыл бұрын
In the states? 636. It's much easier, inexpensive, and convenient to get parts for. More Kawasaki dealers by a long shot, and overall the bike itself is just better as Kawasaki is better than Triumph (imo). Easy example being Kawasaki's amazing race heritage. Hopefully this helped :)
@CycleCruza9 жыл бұрын
Daytona 675r all day BUT if you live in the US the parts for it will not be as easy to come by and dealerships are far and few in between. You may want to check with the guys on the forum for that bike to see how the reliability is. The reason I stick with honda is because reliability is number 1 on my priority list because I'd rather be riding than fixing. So far all I've been doing is riding.
@-Cold-World9 жыл бұрын
I had the 2013 ZX6R (636) sold it and got the 2013 675R, The 675R. is hands down the best bike in the class. It has more torque, more HP, better triple engine, it's lighter with ABS, more nimble, slim frame, looks better, better suspension, better brakes, quickshifter, steel braided brake lines, CF parts, better tires, better gauge cluster, ect, ect. You get a lot more for your money with the 675R. Ninja's so common, the Triumph is in a higher class, just looks and feels like a nicer bike. In short get the 675R! I got one used 10 months old with 1100 miles mint condition for $10,500 used private party.
@-Cold-World9 жыл бұрын
Husnan Ejaz Haha yeah the Kawasaki is better... says who? Did you read that? Have you ridden each bike extensively? You're entitled to your opinion, I respect that, but where are you getting it from?
@ZoneTelevision9 жыл бұрын
What Cold World said is pretty much spot on. The Daytona can be tuned to be insanely more fast than it already is to boot. It set the fastest lap speed/time at the Daytona 200 Last year. It reached speeds of about 186 mph as well. The Triple engine is the best of both worlds. Vtwin torque and screaming high-end like an inline 4.

My concern for new riders is you saying 600RRs are comfy bikes - they're not - hence the delineation 'SuperSport'. If you can do '12 hours' on this bike without a problem, you're in 1% of the population. Try a Street, Touring or Cruiser bike and see the difference.
@CycleCruza9 жыл бұрын
SlinKO PluSh I was comparing the cbr600rr's comfort to other supersports, of course it's not as comfortable as a standard bike. However, some people like me like a stretched out aggressive position that supersport offer. The best part about a supersport is they usually have the best components like brakes and adjustable suspension along with having the best power-to-weight ratio at a fairly cheap price. However, I love all types of bikes and could have fun even on a scooter which I used to own.
@slinkoplush33239 жыл бұрын
CycleCruza Indeed Sports bike have the best components, which I find a shame because I enjoy Street bikes, and it's hard to find one with good brakes and suspension without paying silly Aprillia or BMW prices. I love the riding position and engine of the Suzuki Bandit 1250s, but the suspension and forks are subpar. Have you come across this website comparing riding angles for different bikes?: cycle-ergo.com
@CycleCruza9 жыл бұрын
SlinKO PluSh yeah and the info on that site doesn't amount to much. You have t ride a bike to gauge it's true comfort level. You can always modify a supersport to be more comfortable like a street bike, just add heli-bars and adjustable rear sets, not a big deal.

@CycleCruza9 жыл бұрын
You can get a PC even running a stock exhaust if you want but most people get them for a full exhaust or a slip-on, however, you don't NEED one for a slip-on exhaust but they recommend you get a PC if you are running a full exhaust. Imo, don't waste your money on a full exhaust anyways, you won't gain much hp to justify the expense. If you are looking for better sound and save a little weight just get a slip-on, 2 bros slip-on works fine on this bike even without a PC.
@1Corinthians151-49 жыл бұрын
Since me and cruza have the exact same 08 cbr600rr with same exhausts, I will agree that it's not necessary for the two bros slip on, when I installed the pc5 I downloaded the map specifically for what I have on my bike, you honestly can notice a difference, it doesn't add really any hp, maybe 2-3 it's honestly not much... But the throttle response is crisper, it makes the bike come alive just a little more, and plus you can fiddle with many of the options available, the ONLY con I have with the pc5 is that I noticed I lost maybe 8mpg. But I'll sooner or later change the ratio to get most of it back. Doesn't bother me, I make great money, but idk, if you wanna blow money that's fine, but you really don't need it...
@TboneSTEAK1119 жыл бұрын
SickickSix I have a hi-flo air filter, BRISK platinum spark plugs, HMF exhaust with full system exhaust wrap from headers to mid pipe, with a PC5 dyno tuned and I'm lucky to get 140 miles to a tank not riding like a dickhead, and that's running it till it dies. I'm pretty sure I lost more then 8mpg lol
@1Corinthians151-49 жыл бұрын
Yeah I can get right at 155 before I'm scratching for fuel, pc5 really does change your mpg like crazy. Sorry I said 8 because I was thinking of something I shoulda said 13.
