Yeah, I went from 335i and heard lots of positive about meth kid when it comes to the carbon build up during my ownership. Never got around to getting a kit, but I'm definitely going to for my WRX.

Derek Welker well yeah i've been told that a lot thats why i had the numbers without meth in my comment, gain is what matters , final numbers can be misleading because different dynos read different . 50whp gain is healthy for this kind of setup .

Hey so two questions for the boost line where did you tap into? And yellow wire did you go from battery than wire in a switch or did you use another 12v source
@dwelker2846 жыл бұрын
deathangela01 I had a TGV delete from PRL which had a port that I referenced for the meth kit. It’s typically used for a boost gauge but I used it for the meth. I didn’t wire in from the batter. I used a fuse tap to get keyed power and ran it to a switch. That way you don’t have to wire as much.

@dwelker2847 жыл бұрын
Im running an accessport. The failsafe is not implemented with the accessport but rather up to the meth kit. The AEM kit has a failsafe wire that you can run to a relay. Aquamist I believe has you wire into the factory harness and it has internal failsafes built in.

@dwelker2848 жыл бұрын
lucas brett I looked at the aquamist kit for a little bit because of the failsafes but once I saw the install instructions I was completely turned off. It's 10x harder to install than the AEM kit and $300 more. After talking with BrenTuning they recommended the AEM kit and told me they have never had an issue with it. It's been fine for me so far.
@WelcometoLucaSh8 жыл бұрын
thanks thats interesting food for thought. in the case of a complete failure of the meth system im curious to what would happen... would the outcome really be that catastrophic to need so many fail-safes? hmm

@dwelker2847 жыл бұрын
Sean Allred you really just need a tune. It's obviously going to produce more power so there is always a risk. But with a good safe tune there is nothing to worry about. Except your clutch, your clutch will hate you and need to be replaced much sooner than before. I have a nameless BPV.

@dwelker2847 жыл бұрын
Ian Walter they are pretty close because they are both considered alcohols. Only difference is you don't put methanol in the gas tank like you do ethanol. Methanol is contained in its own system that uses corrosion resistance lines so it's not harmful to the car like ethanol can be.

So I as well have a 2015 WRX protuned by BrenTuning. I'm thinking about trying to increase my power to roughly what your putting down. Have you found any weak links yet? How's the stock clutch holding up?
@dwelker2848 жыл бұрын
David Barrett the clutch was definitely the weak link. It started slipping shortly after. It made it to 28k but I'm pretty happy about that as other people with less power have had clutch problems. I upgraded recently and it's been fine since.
@Dave-so7sf8 жыл бұрын
Derek Welker Lol I've been waiting for the clutch slippage. Ive been at stage 1 since 3000 miles, now at 29,000 271whp 269wtq. I've been telling myself all the people with clutch problems are just young kids that just don't know how to drive standard. This makes me feel better :). Well looks like I'm doing a clutch too along with the other mods. What did you go with for a clutch? Do you like it?
@dwelker2848 жыл бұрын
David Barrett you're exactly right though. Mostly people who don't know how to drive. I was surprised mine lasted as long as it did since I was stage 2 since 6k. I went with the ACT HD-SS and lightweight flywheel. It's not too bad. I'm going to make a video at some point about it.
