I still believe that they are the best group that invaded America. Thank you Scotland for these 5 men. How would we have made it through our teens without them. I still love all their music. Shame on their manager for not taking care of them. But thank you guys for taking care of us. BCR always.

I was a teen age fan of the BCR, saw them play several times live in concert. Loved all their songs, and I did buy 16 magazine and Tiger Beat magazine during that time to read about my favorite group. Long LIve The Bay City Rollers and their music!

Some really great footage here, but this kind of underplays what happened with Tam Paton ripping them off on a massive scale. It’s an essential part of the BCR story, not to mention that it’s likely the reason why at least 2 of the 3 members who have passed away are no longer alive. It was absolutely horrific what Tam did to them, and the fact that he completely got away with it. Let’s also not forget that Tam was a pervert and a pedophile, who had actually been charged as a sex offender. If there really is such a place as hell, that’s most definitely where Tam Paton is now.

Dear Red I think you are very right ,but don't you think its sort of sad she disrespects them though she clearly threw herself at them and writes a book that made her look desperate. Then is on a video about them who can respect that she got the attention she was seeking but at the cost of her self respect . I as a young woman often got to see them but I would never stalk them or throw myself at them my mom would have killed me.Once at the Palamino club I was sitting on the patio before a concert and Duncan was two tables away other than hi its really hot today I had too much respect for my self to invade his personal space.

A nice documentary. Better than the Behind the Music one that came out in the late 90's which focused too much on the band being ripped off and group fighting. A lot of footage here most of us have never seen.
@Shikta-poobah67 Жыл бұрын
Well yes, the footage in this is definitely better (than the VH1 doc), but it’s important not to lose sight of just how badly these guys’ lives were destroyed by shady management and bad record label deals. I can pretty much guarantee you that Alan would have never had that stroke which led to his premature passing, and that Les probably would’ve gotten a much better handle on his addiction sooner in life, had it not been for the shit hand they were dealt. We’re talking about a band that were probably the biggest teen sensation since the Beatles and Stones, before Nirvana. They literally generated hundreds of millions in profits, but they saw almost none of it. It was a colossal heist. One of the biggest ever perpetrated in rock/pop history, and it absolutely DESTROYED these guys.

12 million records sold in America alone Tam Paton really took them to the cleaners big time they have nothing to show for it not a penny unbelievable he got away with it
@Shikta-poobah67 Жыл бұрын
Yep. He essentially got away with not only robbery on a colossal scale, but destroyed these guys’ lives and then basically built a real estate empire with the BCR profits. I mean it’s not like he was the first shady manager to rip off the artists he represented, there’s a long line of those kind of sleazy Svengali types… but he was most likely the *WORST* of them all. Not to mention he was also a pervert and a pedophile, who may have had ties with Jimmy Saville. I seriously believe that both Alan’s and Les’ deaths came about prematurely as a result of what Tam did to them. Ian was a different story. He wasn’t really involved long enough with the Rollers to have been affected anywhere near as much as Alan and Les were. Plus Cancer doesn’t play favorites.

@Shikta-poobah67 Жыл бұрын
Yeah by ‘78 they were pretty well washed up. Their initial success (aka ‘Rollermania’) was something that only could have occurred in the mid 70’s. After punk and disco came along there was no room for bands like the Rollers anymore. I’d say “the writing was on the wall” sooner than ‘78. More like late ‘76/early’77.

They were no good, even The Monkees were even much better but best of all were The Beatles by a long shot!
@classiclistener01508 жыл бұрын
Yes. That's your opinion and I agree, but, The Bay City Rollers were 'fun' music, too. In a way, they were Scotland's answer to The Monkees...but, in no way could either of these be even remotely compared to the incredible talent and range of The Beatles...even for a second.
@visigoth67814 жыл бұрын
Paul Cachia so you should, perhaps, go to a Monkeys site or the Beatles site. Those of us who liked theRollers don’t need to hear your opinion. We have our own definite opinion. So it seems like your just a bitch...
@stevejohnston85433 жыл бұрын
Give me a break guy. Can you even play an instrument? What a stupid comment. The Monkeys were rubbish and the Beatles!? There isn’t any group that will ever compare to them. The Rollers music is infectious, innocent and so much fun. Heaven forbid. It’s not like the world could use that right. As a rock musician nobody might guess it or know it but I’ve always loved these guys. Can’t help but be happy when I hear their music. Faulkner was an underrated songwriter as well. I think the American TV show really hurt their reputation. I know Les hated it and I can understand why. Also their fans were mostly very young girls (much like the Beatles at first) so it was so easy to make them the object of ridicule. I would jump in a time machine anyway to hear this compared to the mindless drivel that passes for music today.

@@stevejohnston8543 I have never understood all the hype about the beatles. The only talented one among them was Lennon who was murdered after recording his first brilliant solo album. I was a massive Bay City Rollers fan until America ruined them, but I will always remember having my bedroom wall plastered with BCR posters & being in love with Eric when I was 13 right up until I heard KISS when I was in high school. Watching all these video's of the Rollers 48 years later has brought back so many wonderful memories & I still remember all the words to all my favourite songs. Having said that, I also love todays music. I loved seeing Post Malone in concert & last night I saw Ed Sheeran in concert where he broke the record for the most people in Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane Australia.
