Comparing a V6 Camaro to a V8 Mustang? I should hope the Mustang is more fun to drive! Up against a Camaro SS though, and it's no contest. The Camaro wins every time. Can't wait to see how the new Camaro SS 1LE stacks up against the GT350. As for styling... I just can't get past the small, droopy headlights on the Mustang. It looks like it's eyeballs are in its cheeks.

Which would you rather have? Though when we wrote that part of the script, our thoughts weren't specifically targeting the V8. We meant it in a general sense.

+Driving Sports TV The Mustang GT Premium with California Edition, Adaptive Cruise Package, and Voice Activated Nav is $41,280 MSRP. The Camaro 2LT with V6, RS Package and Convenience and Lighting Package is $37,040 MSRP. That's more than a $4000 difference between the two and while the Mustang would have the straight line performance advantage, the 2LT would have more standard features. That's not including automatic transmission in either, but it would drive the price up about the same amount. What other options did the 2LT have?

Total: $39,940 (inc. destination) Note the Camaro came with OnStar navigation... which doesn't count as navigation. And, to be fair, the $2000 California Special Mustang package isn't really necessary. When I said "exactly the same price" that wasn't wholly accurate.

+Nigel White Not sure why but I always look at the tire size when looking at cars. I was at the Ford dealership the other day and the Mustang GT I looked at had P235 45R 18. That is a smaller tire then this V6 Camaro.

yea the Camaro is the better car in every way better looking better chassis better mechanics no matter what it'll always be worth good money in resale in the future whereas the Mustang is pretty much worthless after the first three years and you'll never retain value to pretty much throw away car so for my money I take the superior mechanical Camaro and its resale value and the fact that I can carve out the road a thousand times better than any Mustang! I feel bad for Ford Mustang buyers because they are stuck with a sinking ship and it's got about the ugliest frown on its face I've ever seen a car have

+Jeff K yea vehicle boost will definitely have a short life span compared to the v6 Camaro the EcoBoost ford motor is just a short term motor you can get half a million miles out of a v6 Chevy whereas you're lucky to get over 100 thousand without major problems if you beat on it it will pretty much self destruct

Camaro all day for the money over Mustang when you compare engine to engine. Now that GM has announced the 1LE package for both the V6 and V8 you can get all go fast parts as a package or a la carte. Don't forget the weight is less in the Camaro as well.

Imho, this Gen 6 Chevy Camaro really looks good but it's more of a European sports ride than an American muscle one. It's overall dimensions especially inside almost resembles the new Audi TT coupé and the BMW M2. I totally agree with all that the back seats are just for cargo, even a child or a small person can't be comfortable and can develop claustrophobia with its cramped space and tank-like visibility.

+Andrew Struck I think that leather interior is the big hitter here. Interior snobs can pay the extra for that. The funny thing is the SS for $36k comes standard with a lot of the charged features on the 2LT. You could end up having the same thing with a V8 for not much more.

mustang is very crappy made thats why its cheaper but i wont give any cent for a mexican made parts with very bad handling, unreliable heavy engine and bad weight ratio, even the steering wheel and myfordtouch info system sucks real bad, its comparable to a hyundai

I agree camaro's are better made cars. A lot better. no rattles from those camaro's. sync 3 is pretty good in the 2016. but to say mustang handle bad. you are mistaken. The steering is kinda heavy however the rs camaro has nothing on the ecoboost with handling. .99 on a lateral g and .85 on figure 8s.the SS post those numbers. The RS isn't close.

I'm not a Ford fan. I've driven Chevy all my life. test drove both the camaro and the mustang v6's the other day. ur smoking something good cuz the mustang out handled the camaro and won out in almost every category. add to the fact that I can get a mustang $3k cheaper than the camaro, looks like my next car will be the mustang.

Good review up until the end… why show a 5.0 V8 doing a burnout and the show a V6 attempting a burnout? Should of thrown in the SS if you were going to do that. I test drove both the new Mustang and new Camaro and the Camaro is hands down better in every way. The performance is almost identical so your really going with which car you personally like more.

+Serenity in silence You need to keep in mind you can get a V6 Camaro as low as $28,190, but this one had a lot of options (including a stupid automatic). Granted the SS is roughly $4k over the Mustang GT right now but also outperforms it by a good margin.

It's going to be Camaro for me. It's a respectable V6, looks great (subjective I know), sounds dope with the performance exhaust, love the new interior think it adds more value to the car, and around my city it's cheaper on insurance than the Mustang. Also every other car I see in the summer around my city is a mustang, I like to be a little different.

The Camaro is the better car in every aspect in my opinion. Dollar for dollar, the Camaro SS vs the Mustang V8, the Camaro outperforms the Mustang, and is a better looking car by far, in my humble opinion.

Borrowed Ferrari technology, Chevy wasn't the first to introduce some of the stuff on Camaro's and mustangs and so on, Flat plane crank on the gt350 weighs a lot more than one found a Ferrari so a bit of a taunt factor on their side to ford, magnetic ride suspension introduced by Ferrari but of coarse used by others

+Carlos Silva Not only that but the flat-plane-crank V8 isn't a Ferrari invention -- Cadillac developed a flat-plane V8 over 100 years ago while Enzo Ferrari was still a kid. What's more, Ford's Voodoo V8 only weighs 398lbs. I'd be surprised if the Ferrari F136 motor weighs less than that.

I would after intensively driving both top end v8's in Camaro and mustang respectively looking at each and every aspect like space driving comfort in long distances and all in all I would pick the Camaro I had a 2014 v6 mustang and I still would pick any Camaro at or above the v6 level just it's does everything that much better

The new Camaro is just out of its league. It is faster, lighter, has better handling, Hell a $37,000 camaro Keeps up with a GT350 R on the street. (not on a track) mustangs need a refresh and its only 2 years old. Still light years ahead of the Challenger though

The 1LE and the GT350 have to go head to head. Only makes sense. It is a whole new game for both. I owned both Mustang, and Camaro, so no bias here. I think the Mustang looks better too. That is a personal preference sure. The Camaro looks allot better than before. The Diet it took is where the Mustang gained weight. In the sound department, that V6 Camaro sounds great. But the V8 Mustang GT kills it. The SS also. I would definitely would like a V8 Camaro, but I would buy a V6, and customize it, maybe a Supercharger would come into play. Than do I care about a V8? Hmmm. Who says you can't put the 1LE bits in the V6? Oh wait, isn't Chevrolet making that in option. The V6 and V8 1LE? Hmm, Ford is not putting GT 350 bits in the Ecoboost. Now that would be interesting too. Increase the Ecoboost to about say 400HP? Oh oh, this is a great time to be alive.

+Vincent Chen the only problem with pinning the 1LE to the GT350 is that the 1LE is a package like the GT track pack, while the GT350 is a whole different animal to the GT. Don't get me wrong I's like to see the comparison, but I think we will have to wait a little longer to see a true track camaro to thow down on even terms with the GT350

+Carl Meaux There's a big difference between the GT350 and GT350R. You get the great engine both ways and improved handling, but not as much without the R package. GM has stated they benchmarked the 1LE against the GT350...so it should make for a good comparison.
