One of the better explanations of the Stow & Go seats. Thanks!
@nomorokay7 жыл бұрын
The third row seats do recline. You just pull the strap between the wall and the seat and lean back. Also, the rear quarter windows offer a good way to quickly remove the hot air from a van that's been sitting in the sun for a while. Start the van, open the rear quarter windows, and in a few minutes the hot inside air is replaced with cool air from the A/C.

I own the very same model r/t, same year and all, and I just love it! One thing about your video is that this model HAS the option of side mirrors dead angle detection. I do have it on mine, and it works perfectly and work with the parking assistance detectors, you can use it or turn it off. About the touchscreen, you are so right about how crappy it is. This is the only thing I hate about my minivan. It does work but so "unfriendly" to the user. It's frustrating! Overall, it's the perfect family van for the price. Great video!😁

The key fob is great because it gives you a place to put it while travelling and you actually have an accessory feature allowing you to keep using the functions as long as you need without having to restart the vehicle and shut it off every 10 min. like push start variations. The hidden key in the remote is to open your door if your battery dies.

You forgot to mention that the 2016 DGC R/T has an awesome sound system ( 9 speakers with 500 watts subwoofer), the best SS in many vehicles I've owned and driven since driving for 35+ years. Only the R/T trim offers this as standard, all the lower DGC trims only have 6 speakers at most and not even offered as an option. Mine is a rolling personal jukebox as downloaded over 6,300 songs and still only at 70% capacity on its hard drive. Got it in late August 2016 for about $8K off the MSRP of $35,224 from a N. Seattle Dodge dealer. Noticed that many DGC's have that silver "Flex Fuel" badge on the rear cargo door that mine doesn't have, see this also on most of the used ones listed for sale, think it's a rental fleet vehicle thing. It is also "black crystal pearl" (Darth Vader van) compared to your rental, it has the heated front and 2nd row seats plus heat for the steering wheel option, roof rack, integrated navigation system plus the factory tow pkg. with a Class II hitch and no dvd video as my kids were 17 and 11 y.o. then so already into their own tablets or laptops for the long road trips. Why pay for something expensive not going to use. The radio is kind of dated but I have no complaints as easy to use for me, the Sirius Satellite audio is OK but downloaded songs sound much better. Tows my compact 3,200 lbs. RV travel trailer OK but sometimes struggles a bit on the up hills. As it is our 3rd vehicle, still under 4K miles on the odometer after a year, have no regrets as was considering and had looked and test drove the Toyota Sienna XLE/SE trims at same time. Even the Sienna's lower LE trim with no leather or power lift gate would have cost several thousands more at that time compared to my R/T. The Stow N' Go feature and price for my R/T and the useless 2nd row middle seat in the Sienna's made the decision easy, plus DGC's looks much better than a Sienna that reminds me of a bloated fat person. My nephew back east in Virginia bought a new 2016 Sienna SE around the same time but he never said how much his cost, probably as it was a lot more compared to my R/T. Overall love my 2016 DGC that plan to keep for a long time. Have no personal stigma attached whatsoever to minivans, previous was a 2001 Chevy Venture WBE, compared to any SUV, they are more practical, comfortable and offer more utility, especially for any family with 2+ kids, also love those power sliding doors.

+Paul Chan Wow! First off, most comprehensive comment ever on this channel. Kudos and thanks! I only get to drive these vehicles for a few short days, so my knowledge of them is way inferior compared to a real owner. And, you got yours for 8k?!?! Talk about a steal. Well done sir!

Yes 100RC's, found it on the internet listed for about $7,700 off MSRP, when the dealer would not budge an inch so we started to leave and about to drive away, the mgr. then chased us and offered $300 off, I would have taken $100, good thing took wife's advice, she is a hard negotiator. Also whenever buy a new vehicle also like to keep the original window sticker and brochure for reference purposes.

I have a 2012 DGC and I love the touch screen, as it seems to be based off Windows XP style of operating system. It has not lagged in 4 years of use and is simple and straightforward It is much better than my wife’s Lincoln MKX which uses a newer operating system but is trash in comparison ( I am a computer networking graduate)
@chasemcdonald40736 жыл бұрын
The speaker system sounds amazing, I would agree. Expecally if you use a iPod Classic or Nano in the glove box. Next best sound is the Hard Drive (although you can’t make playlist) The radio and satellite audio in ok, I guess. I will not discuss Bluetooth audio, because anyone that use Bluetooth for audio is just stupid
@francesco19986 жыл бұрын
Paul Chan The reason your van is having trouble uphill is because the vans towing capacity is 3,600 lbs. and since you’ve most likely got crap loaded up in the trailer it’s weighing even more than 3,200, meaning uphill it’s gonna be a lot more when the van has to carry itself, it’s passengers, it’s cargo, it’s trailer, and the trailers cargo. I’d look into shedding some weight off the payload, doesn’t matter what it is as long as you’re not putting so much stress on the driveline and transmission.

@irenehumphries19106 жыл бұрын
100 Rental Cars I don’t know if it is called equalize your pressure, but when some Someoneopens a window in the second row of seating it feels like your ear drums are vibrating, open the vent window and it stops. I don’t think the first year model Sienna which came out in 1998 had the ability to roll down those passenger windows. I don’t remember. They only roll about 1/2 way down.
@100RentalCars6 жыл бұрын
I don't know if that's the official/right way of phrasing it, but I understand what you mean. Those small windows are actually one of my favorite features. They work great on a hot day when you're driving down the highway. The noise the air creates is pretty minimal and it helps cool off the vehicle - especially the third row seat - really well. Too bad the other manufacturers aren't copying it. Oh well.

I must have seen 100 or so Dodge or Chrysler van videos, and you are the only one to actually demonstrate stowing the StownGo seats front and rear. The front is quite cumbersome, especially with floor mats, isn't it? Still a great feature as are the power doors. Does the wheel telescope? I can't reach mine.

Hey, thanks for the kind words about my review. Much appreciated. And you know, I can't remember if the steering wheel telescopes. But I'd bet it does. Tell you WHEN (not if) I get another Caravan I'll post a short video about the steering wheel just for you.

May I suggest you look into one now. My family had a good two years or more left on our current cars, but figured "Why go without a minivan for two years?" There are so many used 2010-2018 minivans on the market (due to loss of popularity and rental-company turnover), that the selection and prices are incredible. You can get a 2016 GC with the R/T package for about $12,000 give or take. We bought ours six weeks ago and are just so happy with it. Every week we discover some new unexpected feature we didnt know it had. Definitely shop around and check out the R/T package though. These GC's are NOT all created equal. The R/T package feels so luxurious. And yes, we do want to use ours as a camper, instead of using a tent. My one thing is this: Even though it's the R/T package, there are several options in ours that are not there. The buttons are not there. No heated seats or steering wheel. No bluetooth. No uConnect. No parking assist or blind-spot detection. Etc. But I think a lot of former rental cars are like that.

100 Rental Cars, Enterprise has very few of them. Maybe you'll get one. There's mixed reviews on them, but from experience, there are better alternatives. Unfortunately R/T means "Sporty" more than "Performance" when it comes to the Grand Caravan, BUT the 3.6 V6 is an AWESOME engine with 282 HP (we have that engine in our 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee), so it's one of thew "faster" minivans in its class. I'd drive one of these. :)
