My sliding door would not open/unlock on our van and I was afraid of the cost of this fix! I am not a mechanic. But thanks to other KZbin videos I was able to disassemble, replace the actuator and reassemble (all shown in the video). I couldn't find any videos on the reassmbly of the door after the actuator was replaced; so I thought I'd share my journey entire journey! Very thankful for the other videos out there that helped me figure out the issue.
Dealership/shop estimate came in around $600+ (some others online claimed $1100+). I paid $167 CDN total (thanks, NAPA!). I could've got an actuator from Amazon (around $20-50 or so); but with the COVID stuff going on, delivery would've been a while and, with five kids crammed in the back of the van, we need our van safe and working properly. If you're able to wait, save some more money and buy one off of Amazon (might as well buy two cause I'm guessing the issue will either happen again in the future or occur on your other sliding door). Mechanics are definitely worth their keep and the knowledge they have is incredible; but I had time and thought this would be a great learning experience as I problem solved this issue. Learned lots and I'm not afraid anymore!
Hope this video helps other regular people like me do a job they probably thought they could never do!
