I got the nearly identical 899 and think it's definitely worth the money. Fabulous looks, very easy to handle and featuring quite a punchy engine. Just switch the seat. That thing's been killing me and I have been riding an old-school 998 for years. It rubs you sore in all the wrong places! I've just installed the comfort seat to see how that turns out. Yeah man, I love my 2016 959 Panigale, Got mine in September fresh at 5 miles, had to do the whole Engine Break in period and all. Right now I'm sitting at about 1567 Miles on the Odometer, and I ride every day even in this cold winter weather, and man, rain, ice, whatever, it still rides like a fucking charm. Adrenalizing bike for sure, and a bike that gets all the looks for sure! It's a little cool, and still really nice the first 600 miles, but after the first service and the rev limiter taken off, MAN, it is a fucking animal for sure! Power wheelied it the first day on first gear, and man, it is sensational. A trust worthy bike, gets the looks, the speed, the daily riding, the track riding, and whatever you want it to do, it will do. It's a love relationship with this bike for sure! If you end up getting it man, it's the best decision you would ever make. And hey, if you do, welcome to the Ducati club, where everyone treats you like royalty! Instagram: @mellojap

Aprilia RSV4 is the best sounding bike but they looked 10 years older already - just like the BMW S1000RR they both look very old !!!! The Panigale has timeless beauty which will help in resale !!!!
@tedsantiago45058 жыл бұрын
Harley Davidson Breakout Ducati Panigale 1299 dude you i dont know if you own a panigale or not but i cant help but see your bias. I understand that some people feel the need to justify their purchase over other products. Not just me but many people that i know, bike magazines, bike vloggers and many others have never said anything negative about the RSV4 besides some nitpicky stuff that can easily solved or changed. Hands down its one of the best if not the best litre bike out there. Ducati is such an exeptional bike but in my opinion and many other's, the RSV4 is simply a better bike over all. Theres nothing that the panigale can do that the rsv4 cant thats worth mentioning. If im on the market and im after an exotic litre bike, ill place where my heart is and thats with the rsv4.
@HarleyBreakoutGuy8 жыл бұрын
The only thing i like about the RSV4 is the sound of the V4 (the best sound) ... I dont like the ugly 1990 ish dashboard (calculator display). I dont like the extremely tall seat height I dont like the front head lights they looked like they were made in the 90s. I don't like the unreliability of Aprilia I don't like the 10 year old styling (Aprilia and BMW S1000RR looked 10 years old already in a showroom - they don't take my breath away like the Panigale does) I'm 5'11" and i struggled to flat foot on the Aprilia lol I don't like small company with very little backup although Ducati is not much bigger than Aprilia lol. I went to Aprilia forum to read about negative and positive stuff people post on their bikes reliability as well as mods they have purchased for their bikes, but the forums were like grave yard hardly anyone uses those forums lol. In my city Aprilia was forced to shut its door so there's no dealership around to help you if you bought one. By the way I own 2016 Panigale 1299 and 2015 Panigale 1299S (wife's bike) so no i am not bias at all i know for a fact the Ducati is the best bike for resale. I would have bought the 2017 RSV4 RF but Aprilia didn't change the design or shape of their bikes so that idea went out of the window real fast - i am not interested in buying a bike that looks 10 years old in a showroom.
@tedsantiago45058 жыл бұрын
Well it looks like you're very superficial with your bike choices. To each their own, some will pick a bike simply or mainly for its looks such as yourself. I on the other hand value riding pleasure more than how my bike or how i look like with my bike. Plus looks are subjective, you might think rsv4 looks old but thats your opinion. Ive never heard anyone complain about its looks besides the triple headlight design, i personally like it. As for a small market company, thats what i like about them!! They're a small company punching way above their weight. Both in product quality and in the racing scene! I live here in Australia, and aprilia dealerships here are abundant, so im lucky about that. Reliability-wise, people have different exleriences and if you're basing reliability based on forum posts well i hate to break it to you but there will always be a lot of reliability issue complains on any public forums and that goes for any bike. Ducs are actually less reliable than Apes. Apes are considered as the honda of the italian bikes although its not as reiable as the honda. Ducatis are more expensive as well as parts for repairs. Insurance costs more here too. Lots of complains about heat issues and and uncomfortable riding position when riding on the streets. However in saying all that. Do i like the Panigale? Of course I do. Its the most beautiful super bike in my opinion, that i can agree with you. Would I buy one? Hell yes I would! But only after I buy my RSV4 :P and if money fell from trees.
@Shadow_Reyu8 жыл бұрын
Great video, Jaret. I especially love your honest review in the comment section. I've also been thinking about getting this bike to go with my 2012 Ninja ZX-6R. Looks like sex on wheels and the performance is sick, but just about everyone complains about the annoying heat and the riding position. Plus the damn thing is close to $17K! I should have very little complaints or need to do anything else, if I'm going to spend that much on a bike. C'mon Ducati! My other options are the ZX-10, S1000RR (hella pricey also) and the new CBR 1000RR. (Aprilia and MV Agusta are out due to the proximity of the dealer network). Anyway, keep up the good work dude. Loving the content.
@JaretCampisi8 жыл бұрын
Thanks man glad you enjoyed it! And yes, thats exactly how I feel. At that price point, you should not have to invest more time and money into a bike to make it "rideable." Its actually a little absurd when you think about it. S1000RR I've heard is amazing so I hope to have a chance to try that out and toss it into the mix of comparison. Unfortunately the Panigale is out of the running for me...just can't deal with the ergonomics.
@Texarmageddon7 жыл бұрын
Just for the record.... The new CBR BASE model is more expensive than the S1000RR ZX10R R1-S GSX-R1000 It is cheaper than the : RSV4 RR by $500 Regular R1 by $200 GSX-R1000R by $500 Ducati 1299 by $3,000 or so and I imagine the MV Agusta is around the same or higher than Duc.. Here is the kicker though... Add ABS to the new CBR1k and you are now More expensive than the YZF-R1 $200 cheaper than the 2017 RSV4 RR, but more expensive than the 2016 RSV4RR by a few hundred. $200 cheaper than the GSX-R1000R I'm not quite sure what Honda was thinking or should I say are thinking these days, but they are charging some crazy prices for their stuff these days. Only CBR that is priced reasonably is the CBR1000RR SP Base Model, ABS, and SP2 I don't know what to say about.. For your sake you better fall in love with the less weight the CBR has now and handling or it's going to be one big regret.

Y'know, watching you do this video really makes me miss my Hyosung GT650R. I was very close to blowing my budget and getting an Aprillia RSV4, but opted for the GSXR-1000 instead. I love the V-configuration bikes. Tried to VTR1000F which was disappointing as the gearbox was crappy. VFR800 was pretty decent as well, but wasn't really what I was looking for. Definitely wouldn't mind going to a Ducati 1099 (I'd want the single sided swingarm) or an RSV4 in the future.

Bro my personal feelings on sport bikes is if you don't track your bike really there is no real reason to buy a litre bike just for the streets the 600-750cc class have plenty of power and in my opinion are more fun and more involving than the litre bikes I advise you to try a Kawasaki zx6r 636 or the triumph Daytona 675r gsxr 750 or even the MV Augusta f3 there all fantastic rides all more than enough power for the streets but hey ultimately it's your 💵💵 and your choice I'm just throwing my opinion out there but whatever you get enjoy and keep safe bro ✌
@JaretCampisi8 жыл бұрын
Yeah I actually agree with you on the power...one of the main reasons I wanted a 1000 is because of the full color screens and all of the rider aids. I love technology and the thought of messing around with launch control, ABS, traction control, rider modes, quick shifting etc is just so freaking awesome.
@mikeh77598 жыл бұрын
I mean, It's not like you only experience the power of a Litre bike at 300km/h, the torque is evident throughout the revs. If we apply the 'practice' factor, then he may as well get a gsx650 or xj6 etc. But hey, that's just my opinion and I respect your too :)

Mike H yeah that's cool would be boring if we all thought the same anyway everybody's different and good luck to jaret with whichever bike he ends up buying 👍🏻
@danahawthorne54278 жыл бұрын
Just fyi, this is considered a middleweight bike, because of the vtwin (or L - Twin same shit) this bike doesn't really have a race class comparison. It would get WHOMPED by litre bikes, and is a little heafty to run with the 600's. I walked an R6 in Morrison CO on 285 like it was a little biatch on my 959 in Race mode.
@TheSaneRider8 жыл бұрын
Adam Stratford Totally disagree. Think the liter bikes make better street bikes and 600s make better track bikes. The torque on the liter bikes makes them much easier to ride around on the streets.
@danahawthorne54278 жыл бұрын
I bought mine in october and have 2k on it. I live in Colorado. This thing in the mountains on the twisty's is like nothing else. Great video. One correction. The motor got its bigger displacement and more power by lengthening the stroke of the old motor. So it is kind of a new motor for ducati, or it is a new motor actually. But other than that, I agree with the difference from Race to Sport being pretty large for sure.
@JaretCampisi8 жыл бұрын

@JaretCampisi8 жыл бұрын
What did you do about the comfort and the heat though?
@Arcrobes8 жыл бұрын
The engine heat really only became uncomfortable durring the summer. Though, as long as you are moving the bike keeps cool. The position does get uncomfortable after about a half hour of riding, mostly from the engine braking putting stress on your wrists. But like before, as long as you are moving fast, it is very comfortable since your body is pushed up on the seat. In the end it is a track bike, or a street bike modeled after a track bike. It is gonna be happiest going fast on a flat track. If riding it as an everyday street bike puts a smile on your face then all the negatives are certainly worth it.
@Arcrobes8 жыл бұрын
One more thing, I recommend wet mode if you are in traffic, or just rollin through busy towns. It makes things a lot more comfortable.

I've got the 2014 1199 ABS S and it literally burns (leaving marks) on my inner thighs after a long ride. Turn the engine braking to minimum it helps with the smoothness. And switch the tires from the corsa2 to something that handles wet roads better. Save the corsa2 for track days.
@JaretCampisi8 жыл бұрын
Yeah I feel like that is really unacceptable as a bike you can ride on the street. If they are so amazing at creating such feats of engineering then you'd think they could figure out a way to prevent something that is pretty terrible. Gorgeous bikes though and the engines are great.

Great review man! Personally , I'd prefer the BMW S1KRR over the Ducati Panigale because of the comfort level and the sick POWER (you can't go wrong with german engine)! (I don't like Aprilias in general, just not feeling connected to the brand but the RSV4 is nice) However, if you're patient I'd suggest you to wait for the new upcoming SUPERBIKES from JAPAN (Suzuki & Honda), should be insanely advanced bikes! Thanks for the footage! looking forward to see more of those.

I owned a lot of bikes (Kawasaki Ninja 250, Kawasaki z750, Yamaha MT09 and actually a Ducati Hypermotard). The only bike which gave me a lot of problems was the z750. I had so many problems that I had to resell the bike for very cheap. With my Duc which I own since a little bit more than 1 year, I'm more than happy. It sounds just great (live much better than on videos) and it is very reliable. I make about 10'000km per year and have already 13'000km on it. Ducatis are all about emotions. A lot of people will turn their heads to watch at this beatiful bike. So if you really like it don't listen to fanboys. Bikes all have a certain price. If you can afford it, enjoy it. It will be like owning a small Ferrari.

Sweet bike man, did you do any basic set ups as far as suspension? compression rebound and such to match your weight? I owned an 2011 EVE 848 and found the front forks springs to be on the soft side in relation to my weight regardless of preload. Eventually swapped out the springs for stiffer 1KG. Based on my opinion it definitely seems to be 80% track and 20% street use for me. Thumbs up and amazing beauty on both bike and girl :)

Ducati Panigale is a true sportsbike. Who ever heard of a sportsbike being comfortable? I had a Duc Streetfighter 1098. Switched the high bars for clip ons. Much less comfortable, but much nicer to ride. If my behind hurts I took a short break, same with the whrists. Now I have a Yamaha MT-10, very comfortable and very fast. But I wish for a Panigale. Shame you didn't take the Panigale, I would.
@JaretCampisi8 жыл бұрын
Yeah I hear you for sure but I've ridden sports bikes for half of my life and although they aren't as comfortable as a cruiser or a naked bike, I still find most of them pretty comfy. The Panigale is an awesome bike, no doubt.......but if you decide to get an RR sport bike, I think I´d rather choose the Aprilia RSV4 or the more rideable and confortable (but no less fun) TUONO 1100 (which I actually own ;-)) .....and, if you are planning on keeping the GSXR, why not give a try to the Multistrada? It is a multipurpose bike, awesome for street riding, long rides too, and, when taking off the paniers, it has the nerve and the fun factor of any sport bike. Take care and ride safe bro !!

for some, yes. But after a while, does it matter what brand manufactured your bike? I mean, they can do the same shit, they can both sound awesome. They both have tachometers lol, so I think you just get a bike that you fall in love with, you take care of her, and you will love her more then any bike out there, no matter what it cost, or what it looks like. Its "your" bike. Kind of like having a child lol.
@JaretCampisi8 жыл бұрын
Antypas Andreas haha yea you're pretty much right on I'd say. However I do think there are some cases that are deal breakers such as insane heat from the unique exhaust or a very uncomfortable riding position etc. So I think it's important to share that kind of stuff work people.

If you're in 3rd or 4th gear on the highway, your clearly not an experienced rider unless you're out there racing everyone. You should typically be in the top gear most of the time to get the most fuel efficiency and least amount of engine wear.
@JaretCampisi8 жыл бұрын
M2 Films yea you are correct for sure. However with the rsv4 and the 1299 being in top gear at 70 mph felt like the bike had no power at all. The rpms felt much too low actually. Even in 4th gear at highway speeds it was still only around 4K rpms. So I was just saying you don't even really need to use all the gears for normal day to day riding.

awesome. why is does the white one cost more than the red ? I got the red 959. I love it.
@JaretCampisi8 жыл бұрын
They charge more for the white...not exactly sure why. Could be that it takes more coats of paint and I know the white has a clear coat where the red does not on the 959 so that could reduce the cost as well.

My calves grew from sprinting. If you want to do lifting workouts in the gym for your calves, train them three times a week with sets of 10-20 reps. Do a combination of standing and seated movements and make sure you get a full range of motion. It takes time but they will grow if you stay consistent.

Panigale is the Ferrari of motorbikes: Before you pick up your new Panigale make sure they factor into the deal setting up the suspension sag for you it will drop the bike down by 1.5" making it really easy to flat foot for your woman and less pressure on your wrists (it is free on delivery but if you do it after delivery they will charge you money). After you setup the suspension by lowering the rear you will find it the best street bike there is :) trust me on that one i own 2 Panigale. After we set up our suspension sags on both bikes the rear dropped by almost 2 inches and in doing so it elevated the pressure on our wrists by 300% making our bikes so comfortable to ride on the streets. Don't worry about the seating position your body will get use to it really fast :) the Panigale is the sexiest bike on Earth and the shape is timeless because there are no other bikes that will even come close to its beauty - this means the Panigale will still look nice and modern 5-10 years from now. How are you setting up your mic? It picks up your voice and the engine so nicely !!!
@JaretCampisi8 жыл бұрын
Oh wow thats good to know! And I agree, I think the Panigale is the most gorgeous bike every made. That riding position was pretty brutal though...and I'm not sure if a new seat and suspension adjustment would change it but that is great to know. I also didn't like how thin the gas tank was as thats where I usually hold on with my legs on all the other super sports and it gives me great control over the bike but on this one I didn't feel that sensation. And I'm using a sony mic in my right cheekpad. I put a windscreen on it and tucked it back under to reduce the wind and allow it to pick up some engine noise :)
@HarleyBreakoutGuy8 жыл бұрын
Yeah the gas tank is a bit thin :( that's also the problem for me as well - i like the Aprilia V4 engine and the MV Agusta Fuel Tank as well as the BMW S1000RR mirrors. If you combine all those together on a Panigale shape you will have a perfect bike :) I am going to trade one of my Panigale 1299 in on a 2017 Aprilia RSV4 RR next year :) i love the V4 engine so much and now the Aprilia will get the TFT screen it is heaven made for me so yeah i will get that bike next year after i get my license back :) my license was suspended for 6 months and i got 5 months to go :) To be honest with you i personally think the Panigale is a girl's bike it is very thin and very elegant just like a woman :). I am too big for the bike being 5'11" with very wide shoulders i dont look good on it.
@HarleyBreakoutGuy8 жыл бұрын
Igot a feeling you're going to end up with 2017 Aprilia RSV4 RR :) it is a nice bike with TFT screen, slide ABS, cruise control, and shit loads more. I would have bought it but i already have 4 bikes and don't want to trade my Panigale in for a 2009 Aprilia shape.

its pretty hot honestly...I think adding a comfort seat (that has a little more padding) and wrapping the exhaust would help keep the heat away from your ass and legs but its something that is there for sure and is not fun especially on a hot day.

Yeah I do think I'll hold off for now. Yes I do actually like the look of the cafe races, I just didn't enjoy the performance. But now that they updated the thruxton, I will definitely take that out in the future.

@delroycampbell52848 жыл бұрын
Worth the money? I'll tell you it doesn't matter what bike you're testing out, you have no way of gauging it's damn value on a single test ride. A bikes value takes time to discern.
@JaretCampisi8 жыл бұрын
Delroy Campbell for the most part I definitely agree with you. But I have ridden this bike before and spent an afternoon on it and feel like I had a pretty good idea of what the bike was about. Lovely to look at and great engine but I had issues with heat, the riding position was very uncomfortable and I had issues with the quick shifter as well. I feel like a bike at that price point should be able to perform basic functions and you shouldn't have to invest more money into the bike just to make it rideable. Just my opinion.
@delroycampbell52848 жыл бұрын
Jaret Campisi No I completely agree with the last bit. However, value isn't something assessed in an afternoon, you gotta live with that thing for a long while. I'm old, owned a lot of bikes. S1000RRs are sick, worth the money? Depends on you I guess, I say no, and I own one. I can get more bang for my buck on a Fireblade. But it's all really subjective. Just one last thing I guess. I would call no Ducati "worth the money" unless it's something you want for pure vanity. New they are fun, but once you get into maintenance, and needing to replace shit, oh boy, fix it and ditch it ASAP. But that only really applies to people that actually ride their bikes. Thanks for the reply.
@JaretCampisi8 жыл бұрын
haha right on man, I definitely agree with you there. I always loved the way the ducati's looked but since I've ridden them I definitely don't feel the same way about them. They are unique thats for sure but I don't have the money to just blow on looks. I'm all about the riding experience and I really enjoyed the RSV4 a lot more. Appreciate the feedback and enjoy that S1000 man, another great bike.

I find it funny he rags on how tall the gearing is on a rsv4 and he only uses up to 3rd gear on it and you should be going through the gears because that's the fun part. Then does the whole log in 1st,2nd and 3rd gear lol
@JaretCampisi8 жыл бұрын
haha well the RSV4 I could cruise on the highway in 3rd gear...on the 959 I could actually use 5th and 6th gear on the highway and be comfortable. Thats more of what I meant...especially since you can take first gear on the RSV4 to like 90 mph which is much faster than any legal speed limit so its not quite as road friendly as the ducati's that red line lower etc.

I have to ask, when people talk about the "character" of the Italian bikes, what exactly is that referring to? I've only ridden Japanese sport bikes and own a Gixxer 750, but after sitting on some Ducatis in the dealer I didn't think I'd enjoy riding something that uncomfortable. What am I missing?
@JaretCampisi8 жыл бұрын
Its really only the super sports that aren't super comfortable. They are really made for racing so Ducati doesn't care about how comfortable they are for a street rider. The character that I am referring to comes from a combination of the engine (its the only v-twin super bike ever made) and from the craftsmanship as they really feel like a work of art. It makes you feel special when you ride them due to the combination of the one of a kind engine and styling. They are also not as mass produced as the japanese brands and you don't see them as often so that adds to the "rare" appeal.
@pauls18148 жыл бұрын
I get it. I'm guessing with that V twin the power kicks in a LOT quicker than on a 4
@JaretCampisi8 жыл бұрын
Paul S dude that's the crazy part...I still needed to rev it out to get to the power band. It doesn't make peak power till up above 9k rpm and then you pretty much have to shift immediately.
