Does anyone think maybe Carl got a concussion in this wreck? He saw what happened to Jr and didn't want to risk his health. Maybe that's why he took this year off! Maybe part of it he's not happy with the way JGR is going and wants to sit out this year and come back with a new team or form a new team.

Now might also be the time to note that Carl Edwards' wife, Katherine (who, like Carl Edwards, is from Columbia, MO, and the same age), is a physician at the University of Missouri Hospital who specializes in rehabilitation with brain injuries. She may well have given Carl qualified medical advice on this issue and that is why this ended up being his last race. They already have 2 children (with a third on the way).
@Johnsor21
@Johnsor21 7 жыл бұрын
Cheatz321 that could very well be. Also, he's had two really tough ways to lose the championship. 1st time was a tie in points with Tony Stewart only to lose it based on Tony having more wins. Then his. I bet these are hard to recover from.

"Joey's very good on restarts, he did everything right." Wow, so wrecking Carl Edwards was right. Wow.
@adamspark9259
@adamspark9259 2 жыл бұрын
He didn't wreck him. He had a run and he took it. The wreck was the result of the 19 turning left and not letting Joey take the spot without a fight. You see drivers make a pass doing what Joey did here all the time, especially on restarts. Only difference here was there was 10 laps to go for a championship so there was no give from either driver, so they collided. Thats hard racing done right by both men. Carl wrecked himself trying to stop a pass.

Best guy in NASCAR history to never win a title. He technically tied with Stewart the one year, based on total points. The bad news is he finished Second that night. This night he had the best car and if not for that move, probably went on to win one. He easily could've had two titles.

I am pretty sure Mark Martin deserves the role of best nascar driver to not win a title?
@jamiethornton6101
@jamiethornton6101 2 жыл бұрын
@@watermel0noj242 Why do you think Mark Martin with 41 wins in more starts deserves it over Denny Hamlin with 46 wins and less starts? I'm curious to hear the logic behind that reasoning. Not to mention Denny's three Daytona 500 wins. Carl Edwards would've had two titles under the old points system. Martin had NO titles under the old points system. So there are two guys right there that are clearly better.
@watermel0noj242
@watermel0noj242 2 жыл бұрын
@@jamiethornton6101 Don't know where Denny Hamlin came from because according to you Edwards was the best to never win a title. Also I am not sure if you know this, but winning the 500 doesn't make you "better" than people who won other races. As well of the fact that Mark Martin maybe has more starts because he had a long career and is now retired? Again, mark finished 2nd for the championship 5 years and, ironically, most of these WERE in the old style of points! Not to mention his 61 2nd place finishes compared to his 41 wins. Just because denny or carl won more doesn't mean they were better. Mark was very unlucky in his career and finished 2nd way too often, I don't know if you knew any of this information before you tried to make a silly argument, but now you do.
@jamiethornton6101
@jamiethornton6101 2 жыл бұрын
@@watermel0noj242 He came from you throwing Mark Martin out there as the best driver not to win a title. Mark Martin isn't even top three. Junior Johnson won 50 races and Denny Hamlin is still racing and won 46. Carl Edwards didn't race anywhere near the length of time as any of those guys and would've won two titles under the same system that Mark Martin raced his entire career under.

@jamiethornton6101 2 жыл бұрын
@@watermel0noj242 yeah I did. His stats are just not as good as guys like Junior Johnson and Denny Hamlin. it's not a level playing field for Carl, because he didn't race anywhere near as many years as Mark Martin did.

@@unknownuser25_48 Because there was no debris off of Lupton's car. Just a normal flat, and he kept the car under control and would have gotten back to pit road without issue. 90% of the time NASCAR doesn't throw a yellow there. They were looking for any possible way to create drama when it became clear the 19 was smooth sailing to a championship.

They also kept it green in an identical situation with Chase Elliott late in the race at Kansas just a few races earlier.

Tbh Joey Logano could've gotten off the gas for a second or 2 so this wreck wouldn't happen

If he did that he would have wrecked the field, Logono had nowhere to go and if he tried to slow down him and carl would have both been in the grass, but since he was already making contact he couldent get off of Edwards, that said there really was nothing Logono could have donem

This was all Nascars fault, another reason I stopped watching it, they got to big and made it a show rather than racing, Carl had that race before the fake caution, I don't blame him for leaving.
