Door keypad code: On the driver's side door are a series of numbers 1/2, 3/4, 5/6, and 7/8 (I'm going off memory - I just purchased my vehicle yesterday). In the owner's manual, there's a business card with a five digit code on it. This is the factory preset code to enter the vehicle without the key. You can use the numbers to enter the car. With the console, you can change the factory preset number to your own personal code. If you have to get something out of the car and you forgot your keys in the house, you can still get into the car with your code. Also, there's a VERY nifty feature in the MYKEY section. You get two keys with this vehicle. In the center console armrest area, left it up and feel toward the center. there's a little rectangular hole that your key fits into perfectly. Use the spare key. Once the key is in the hole, go to setting, click on MYKEY and hold it. This gives you the ability to set limits on the vehicle. Let's say you have a 16 year old who wants to drive the car. You can preset the key to 65 MPH; you can set the audio to not go above a certain limit, you can set all sorts of limits on the key. When the kid wants to drive, just give him the spare key and know for a fact that he will return home safe - and may never want to use your SUV again... you can limit the ability to make calls or send text messages....this was a real WOW factor in our decision to purchase. I'm still reading the owner's manual, but if you get one of these SUVs, make sure you have a knowledgeable sales rep go over all the features.

When you talked about the door code, there is a setting where you can turn off the unlocking of doors by hand so you can leave the key in the vehicle and not have to worry about someone entering it just by grabbing the door knob. Therefore you can leave the keys in it and use the code to enter

Mike, The keypad is very useful is your wife yells down to get something from her Explorer. You don't need to search for her keys. I don't think I could live without this feature!

just purchased ours yesterday! As for the side vehicle code/pin number on the driver door, if someone needs to run out to the car and get something, and forgot the ke in the house, they can just use the code so they don't have to run back inside the house. Convenient. I love this car! Perfect for our family of 7!

I just bought one of these. Black on black loaded XLT. I use to own a 2012 GMC Acadia. In my opinion the Explorer is by far a better vehicle. Fit and finish is good and it feels solid. The Acadia was a rattle box with bad interior creeks especially in the a pillars. Great ride very comfortable seating and LED low beams, wow what a difference in night driving.

Great video. The Explorer is the only mid size car that you can get with power adjustable pedals I believe. Ford doesn't really advertise that. I'm not sure if you can get them in an XLT but it would be a cool demo. I have a 2008 with them and my wife loves them.

Answer as to why you need to use the keypad instead of using just your key. Simple and it happens all the time. Forgot to get something out of your car and you left your key inside by your bed and dont want to run to get it you just enter the code. Doesnt sound like much but it really comes in handy!!

Thanks for this! I just wish they weren't so expensive.. even slightly used ones are expensive still :( I love these things. I've test driven a couple (with the last one being yesterday), the one yesterday was a 2015 limited with 20k miles (probably ex rental) for 32k. That's still out of my price range, but my whole family agreed with me that we love these lol. Can you please show this in the dark? Especially the low beam led headlights. I'm really interested how they look without projectors. As I'm sure you know, manufacturers are switching from hid to led, but I've only seen them with projectors (ex: corolla, which are amazing). I hope they aren't like older priuses that had hids without projectors (worked, but not as nicely as with projectors). Also about the floormats, do you have any experience with weathertech mats? I don't know why they don't partner with manufacturers to have them as an option. I've never had them, but all my future vehicles will (I live in PA, carpets are stained after 1 winter.. and I have factory mats + 'deep' rubber ones from walmart).
@MikesCarInfo9 жыл бұрын
wantsanewvehicle Weathertech mats are great! Most manufactures have an "all weather mat" option that are great for mud and snow as well. I call them slush mats.

At 1:26 you show the headlights, Honestly, who is designing the vehicle and thought that the use LED trim lighting is cool and low beam head lights are better on energy consumption, but ya know lets use halogen High Beam and Fog Lamps. What were they thinking? I have a 2014 Sport Ford Explorer and the head light set up and Fog Lamps are just find as is "ALL LED" okay they want to change the styling Great, why not just stay with all LED, not to mention it just looks like miss matched head lamps, Nice Bright White LED and a Yellowish washed out Lamp, this just makes no sense at all. And FORD still has not addressed the clearance issue from the Front to the Rear. I already had to have the front springs replaced under warranty due to faulty build or poor quality springs. I was hoping the Ford would have addressed this.
