You should welcome the competition, maybe this will make Subaru get off of their lazy asses and produce an STI that's not the same car from a decade ago...

+ADReed24 true. I noticed my comment was somewhat rude and didn't mean it to be. But yes Subaru is lazy and doing the same thing. Ego I can't say much since they're discontinuing production but the Final Edition was a nice little change

380 awhp in such a small form might explain how it can get sideways like it does lol. very awesome to see this kind of development, displacement is dead :-)
@ethownzbh8 жыл бұрын
That's DIN corrected engine power. So it's 380 at the crank, not at the wheels. This car wouldn't gain 150hp just from a remap.
@maxpower7008 жыл бұрын
+Ethanmeister thank you for clarifying. and sorry about The mistake here, i didnt know wich countrys use The din numbers to clarify HP, especially not on The internet. (we have din here in swe aswell). and i am still in the mist about The specs on The new rs, ive merely seen Ken throw it arouns in a vid, and TDIB's walkaround :)
@NoNegotiations8 жыл бұрын
+Ethanmeister So they're at dyno and they're counting HP\TQ at the crank instead of at the wheels?! who does that, that's the whole point of Dyno to see the wheel HP, what is actually putting down to the ground. But that's just me, so people may have diff opinions.
@Kodiak212Dozer8 жыл бұрын
+NoNegotiations It's much easier to sell 380 hp than 300.... They are literally making up whatever number they want..... Whatever will get Customers in the door.
@ethownzbh8 жыл бұрын
+NoNegotiations It is reading what the car is putting down to the ground it's just converting it to crank hp. The point of a dyno is to measure gains. You can do a baseline dyno at the wheels and compare it to the tuned result at the wheels or you can have it converted to crank hp and compare it to the manufactures claimed output. If you look at that bottom of the 3 hp lines it appears that was the baseline run at 350hp converted which is about what is claimed as stock. The result is the same either way.

@stinger15au8 жыл бұрын
that's actually worse despite what the manufacturers say. While you want to wait until everything is upto temperature, giving it a redline inside the first thousand miles is good for the engine, it beds the rings and other parts. It will make more power in the long run too

@superjervis8 жыл бұрын
I'm guessing that's 378hp at the crank and NOT the wheels because the baseline hp is 350 at the crank
@AtomCook8 жыл бұрын
+The Opinionator If you look at the screen during the 1st dyno run you will see it made 334hp at the wheels. 378hp is the 'corrected value' for crank hp, which the software calculates based on a formula.
@Camy82118 жыл бұрын
Since the stock crank is 350hp and it made 334hp at the wheels(16hp less), can you approximately say that after the tune its making approx 362hp at the wheels? Could this be more or less?
@mred91618 жыл бұрын
Actually the baseline is in ps NOT bhp
@ethownzbh7 жыл бұрын
No no no no. All of the runs are converted to engine horspower you can see even for the first run it says CEngHP ie. crank hp. This is an awd car, it's drivetrain losses will be between 20-25%. Not 12% as you are suggesting.

Another useless dyno because a shop felt the need to apply some strange unknown correction factor to change the rating at the wheels to the rating at the crank. What a BS practice to inflate the numbers.
@johnjackson128 жыл бұрын
In the UK nearly all dynos run down to calculate mechanical drag to get the crank hp. I dont think its as accurate as just using WHP, but it does mean you can use the figures to compare what the manufacturers state. Worth noting though that superchips had 335bhp stock on there car and after a remap made 355bhp. Something smells fishy in this video if you ask me.
@greebuh8 жыл бұрын
Bullshit, the UK uses the same fucking Dynometers as the rest of the damn world.
@johnjackson128 жыл бұрын
Ive had 5 different cars tuned and run on different dynos in the past, every one has been CRANK hp. American dynos are almost always WHP. Just how it is.
@wjrneo28 жыл бұрын
Except that converting a number obtained on a chassis dyno back to crank HP is just not possible, it introduces yet another variable into play. Coast down parasitic loss cannot be measured accurately. So you should keep the units in the same measurement they were obtained. If you dyno on an engine stand, then thats flywheel HP. If you dyno on a chassis dyno, thats WHP. And it should remain either way.

Yes, adding more fuel the fire here, but this video is poorly done. The video details don't explain anything. If you are going to dyno a car show the initial pass with no modifications and clearly show us the whp, not just hey "we made 378hp after a flash of the engine." I want to clearly know, hey this car made xxx whp with no modifications. Then i want to clearly see, hey this car made xxx whp after xyz modifications. Leaving a lot to speculation here with this video...
@trackntrail28698 жыл бұрын
Seems like the only modification is a tune and they probably don't to give up information on a tune that they plan to sell...

I believe that the RS was actually designed by a European team as well as manufactured there. But I agree that the engine sound is kind of boring, the exhaust crackle is the best sound that it makes imo. Plus ford has put silly things in their ST like that sound symposer.
@axeami13548 жыл бұрын
dont see how the simposer is silly at all its not like the ones that mercedes and renaults use which play sound through the stereo it just opened a valve into the air intake to give a real sound. Cars have the be made quiet from factory so its better having a simposer than nothing although it obviously won't match an exhaust or induction kit tbf
@richardnavratil96618 жыл бұрын
Actually, all of the new Focus RS vehicles are made in Cologne, Germany. It's still a Ford, but "European" ford released to the whole world. I've always liked the European Fords better, my mom had a 2009 Focus (base), and it's still a hatchback, versus the god-ugly US sedans of that time. Then also the 2011 Ford Mondeo is so much nicer than its US equivalent, the Taurus. The European Mondey of the early 2010s gave the design idea to the newer US Fusions, too.

Fella's that's whp, not crank... Dynos measure whp and torque, nothing to do with crank
@winzfeld18 жыл бұрын
Actually a dyno can't measure "horsepower", bhp is a calculation of torque and revs. A dyno measures torque at the wheels and then calculates wheel bhp and from this value, estimates of crank bhp.
@GilesHinton8 жыл бұрын
In the US they might but as you may have realised by now, in other places in the world it's considered normal to measure at the crank. The whp figures commonly cranked out by US tuners are often pretty inflated as well. When I owned a Subaru some of the whp figures being banded about on the US forums were just utter BS given the level of mods - they would have been unachievable without seriously shortening the life of the engine, so unless there are a lot of stupid tuners it would appear that the dynos over measure whp. What I'm saying is there is no accurate way of doing it - not all dynos will read the same. All it's good for is a baseline figure on where to start tuning and a general indication of how quick the car is.
