Looks like you're joking the side of the car first at the pinch weld, then lifting the front center-left via the subframe? Where on the subframe are you placing the jack?

I notice something like what you just said! I bought my 2011 used from the dealer, and I noticed a tiny slight vibration when it first turns over. I usually only hear it from a cold start.

+SlugDropsonheads do you have a dog bone mount insert installed?
@SlugDropsonheads8 жыл бұрын
Nope, not that I know of. I just bought this guy 4 months ago. I have been wondering if it is something I should take it in for... While it's still got that great warranty on everything haha.
@SlugDropsonheads8 жыл бұрын
It almost sounds like when your phone receives a text and you have it on vibrate. Just a single pulse.
@RadFox13208 жыл бұрын
+SlugDropsonheads if it does it all of the time you should probably take it in and see what they say. If they can't find anything they will tell you it is normal. It might be a common problem with an easy fix. On the early 2015 GTI, I believe it was a fuel line, that could rattle but you could easily bend some heat shielding to fix it. I would jack the car up on 4 stands and have someone repeatedly start the car while I was underneath to see if i could figure out what was vibrating.

WhT tools besides a jack would I need, like what's the specification of the tools you used so I can buy them mate! I have the same exact insert and piece please reply

I over torqued mine on my gti and it was giving tones of VNH! Placed a rubber washer between the bolt and the insert, torqued it 75 lb, now the start vibration almost 90% gone.
@RadFox13208 жыл бұрын
+Ismael Mahamat thanks for the valuable information! Hey, I have to ask, are you sure that you bought the correct version of insert? If you put the wrong version in, the VNH will be ridiculous!
@djorkode18 жыл бұрын
+Rad Fox I do have the right insert, order both versions and held on to the correct one. several other people experienced the same symptoms. I think it comes down to who can tolerate what! Hey once again, great video.

Hey what's the tool used to really tighten the bolt in the end? Thanks!!
@n0Obman6 жыл бұрын
Renato Kalugdan he used a breaker bar. He should have used a torque wrench though and torqued it to 100nm.
@augysteen32608 жыл бұрын
how many pounds did u torque down the bolt at? or you don't need to torque just tighten?
@RadFox13208 жыл бұрын
They spec it at 130NM. If you are going to buy one make sure to get the right insert. There are two different ones. If you have the correct insert it will gently press up into the mount and when you tighten the bolt the insert should not deform in any way. If it does, then you have the wrong insert.

Radfox, I may be missing the comment somewhere , But did the 034 insert eliminate the wheel hop at the track? I get just ordered an insert for my 16 GTI version 2 due to wheel hop. Also, If I happened to get a lot of vibration, how concerned would you be about other nuts and bolts on the car loosening up over time? Thanks. Love the videos by the way. You explain it all very well.

Mike I've taken my mk7 gti on the track with the exact mount, works like a charm, no excess vibration at all, all other nuts and bolts will be fine.

Hey rad fox. I noticed you didn't torque yours to 100Nm. And on the directions it says to. Is there a reason why you didn't? Awesome videos by the way🙂
@RadFox13208 жыл бұрын
I am sorry I am a bad example. You really should use a torque wrench if you are unsure or not willing to deal with the consequences. I have been working on all of my own cars my whole life and I hardly use a torque wrench except on engine internals or other parts that I know are sensitive or would be hard to access a second time or are expensive to replace. When I don't use a torque wrench I will most likely be slightly over tightening my bolts. In most cases I am comfortable with this. I believe that dog bone bolt is a TTY, torque to yield, where they actually stretch a certain amount when you tighten them and they get weaker every time you tighten them. There are a lot of TTY bolts on VW's compared to other cars I have had. To be safe you really should use a torque wrench and replace all TTY hardware, but In the many cases where I have reused TTY's I have seen no ill effect.

My positive vibrations are crazy on my '16 GTI. It's as if I'm lugging it 24/7 haha. Here's a pic of my mount: i.imgur.com/Lwus72M.jpg and I got version 2 for that. Torqued to 73 ft-lbs. I did use the torque wrench as a breaker bar. And I understand there's a break-in period. Should I just wait it out? It was also a tiny bit slanted but I think that's normal.
@RadFox13208 жыл бұрын
+Ricky Spanish it looks like you picked the right version. Can you post a pick of what the insert looks like on the car now? I would like to see the slant. Plus, did the insert gently slide in (like mine did in the video) or did you have to push on it to get it to seat all the way in? There are a couple of things I am wondering. One, are you tuned, and how many miles did you put on the stock mount before installing the 034? How often did you get wheel hop before installing this insert? Maybe the stock mount is worn out, basically too stretchy. In addition maybe your engine mounts could be a little stretched too. Two, on my car there is very little contact between the insert and the hard rubber in the mount. Only the corners of the insert are barely touching the rubber when the car is not moving. I am wondering if you have more contact area in your mount, for some reason. Maybe there is a slight difference in your rubber dimensions or maybe even the depth of inner cavity where the bolt goes in. If there is something going on with the depth/height of that cavity you might try finding a thin steal washer that you could try adding under the 034, to effectively lift the 034 a little bit out of the mount. This might give the mount/insert a little more wiggle room before it binds and starts transferring all of the vibrations into the car. You really need to see if you can tell where the insert is hitting the rubber in the mount. There might be wear marks on the 034 that could help figure this out. If I really wanted to run the insert, and the vibrations were too harsh, I would look for the wear marks on the insert and then file or grind a little material off of the 034 in those spots to loosen it up. I hope that gives you some ideas!

+Ricky Spanish Check out golfmk7.com. It's forum I'm on (username: vwgti). The version 2 tended to have a lot of NVH especially when you first install it. Not to worry though, 034 Motorsports is working on a revision (version 2.1) to fix that problem. So if the NVH doesn't go away, the probably will be fixed soon. Hope this helps.
@RadFox13208 жыл бұрын
Kevin Kuntjoro so they figured out that there is another difference beyond the two different mounts?
@12188MPH8 жыл бұрын
With the version 2, it's made slightly smaller just because of the range of different castings that there are. So it's a hit and a miss. No one has had the v2.1 quite yet, but people are hoping that it's a big improvement. Fortunately, I have version 1, which so far everyone says it's good.

Rad Fox dude!!!!! Thank GOD your ok I was wondering what happened to you, how’s the car??
@DonThorvund8 жыл бұрын
Love how you do your videos. This eliminates some of the torque movement of the engine?
@RadFox13208 жыл бұрын
+Don Thorvund thanks! Yep! There is not much movement to begin with but there is just enough when you launch hard or get on the pedal fast that the lower engine/transmission mount can compress by what I believe to be by about a 1/2" (there are other compression points in the suspension too). This is not all that bad on its own but if the wheels loose traction and gain traction rapidly you end up rapidly rocking the engine and transmission back and forth and the end result is that the car experiences wheel hop. This is a common problem on front wheel drive cars that have been modified with more power. On my car, in the video, my hop was a high frequency bounce (very rapid tiny bounces), which to me, tells me that I only need to reduce the movement in the mount a little bit. On my stage 2 GTI the wheel hop was low frequency but very violent. If the hop is too violent, at a minimum, you run the risk of snapping the dogbone.

Its incredible to me how all these "tuning" companies indoctrinate the middle class into buying all of these useless doohickies for their vehicles. You think that little maxipad is going to reduce your wheel hop? No, I doubt it. Just how much R&D did this company put into that little piece? None of course. It is just a shiny new piece designed to pass the eye test. BTW for some odd reason YT brought me here from linear O2 sensor testing and diagnosis xP
@paul1231007 жыл бұрын
I installed a new dogbone mount along with this insert on my GLI, which had tons of wheel hop on normal acceleration from a complete stop. After installing those two cheap parts, my wheel hop is 100% gone, I installed them both at the same time, so I can't say for sure the insert alone would eliminate the wheel hop, and I'm not about to take it off to find out. However, there are plenty of positive reviews out there on this insert, so yeahhh..
