2016+ Honda Civic Hatchback Window Visor Installation

This video shows how to properly install a set of Genuine Honda window visors for the 10th generation Civic covering model years 2016-present. The window visors are very practical - you can crack the windows open during rain to vent the car without getting wet and you can even leave the windows partially open in hot weather to keep the car interior cool without anyone noticing. Car featured in this video is a 2017 Honda Civic Type R hatchback.

All u have to do is line the holes up with the bracket. Saves u time. U don’t really have to get all technical with it.

Although you're partially correct that for someone that hasn't done the install before and only has 1 crack at getting the doubled sided tape on right that following the instructions provided by Honda is quite important. Yes the brackets can be lined up but only have you have them in the relatively correct position to start with. It definitely isn't rocket science but doing it right like a pro means following instructions to the T. The funny thing is earlier this week someone brought their very car and visor to me to fix their screw up b/c they said to me "I just stuck it on but I can't line the holes up quite right. Admittedly his install was a bit of a disaster and I spent a good portion of my time ripping off the visors from his car, removing all the crazy adhesive tape and then reinstalling the visors for him the proper way. Suffice to say it cost him MORE to have me do the job b/c of all the rework and fixes I had to do to get things lined up properly and stuck on right.

yeah the sticky tape does truly suck especially when you gotta take them off for whatever reason. This is why you gotta get them right the first time so there is no room for screwups. My install vid might be a bit neurotic as fas as details and install goes but if you knew you only had one chance to get them right, one would be wise to be safe than sorry. But yes, weathertech's attachment system is so much better.

Great well detailed video! I just bought some of these window visors...my car has just been ceramic coated...what do you recommend when installing the visors...just wipe the area with the alcohol wipes? Do you think that would be enough for the 3m tape to adhere properly! Thanks!

My car is ceramic coated too and I just wiped with the alcohol prep wipes and stuck me on and so far zero issues.

I believe it is 20% on the back and 80% on the fronts. I like subtle tints (for legal reasons) and the back I don't like to go deeper than what a minivan would come stock from the factory would look like. I never understood the folks that want 5% limo tint on their cars. Its a hazard b/c its so dark that you can't see anything when its dark out.

Aren't you supposed to roll the windows up and down a few times to make sure the window track goes back into place?

When installing does the edge on the top has to be flush and the center end of the visor does it need to be flush perfectly? Or does it require a little apart from the edge of the door trim from the door?

I just lined up the edge of the window visors with the edge of the door frame. If you're unsure, the best thing to do is do a trial fit before peeling the adhesive strip's backing paper. Its been a while since I installed the visors but if memory serves me correctly, I just installed the clips, lined everything up to make sure it all fit properly and then the last step was to peel the adhesive backer off and apply pressure to secure it to the car.

hmm, you better double check the instructions. Did you buy the genuine Honda ones or did you buy an aftermarket visor? The genuine Honda ones should come with 2-3 clips per visor.

Wonder, can these be taken off and put back on again? Say, for example, if youre getting the car re clear-coated/ painted on roof as well as right above side windows.

You can but I urge you to err on the cautious side when removing the visors. The 3M body adhesive tape is extremely strong and I'd only suggest removing in a warm environment (the hotter the better actually) and using a hairdryer to help soften the adhesive to remove it. To reattach the visors you remove all the old 3M tape with a combination of adhesive remover solvent that is safe on plastics + hair dryer, reapply a new thin line of 3M body adhesive tape and then reattach to the car. It's been done before and we do this at the dealership all the time.

also do you put the whole black pin+back rivet in the holes or do you seperate the back rivet part of the pin and put it in from the inside n lock it

I didn't have to separate anything with the rivets. I just pushed them in while supporting the rear metal support bracket that I installed and the popes them in. Been many years now and they haven't come out.

I oddly got your question a year after you sent it. I got my visors from the Honda dealership. They are the genuine honda accessory and to my knowledge they only came in a smoked/almost black color and not clear.

I'm 99% sure that Honda makes the for the sedan. The installation procedure is fundamentally the same.

not at all. In fact my mirrors are currently folded in on the car as I type this message and there is plenty of clearance.

I couldn't tell you as I've never installed a ProCivic visor before. I would presume that the procedure be extremely similar as that is really the only way to securely install these things onto your car and not have them break and fly off on the highway.

Thuan Carson this video has been on my channel for quite sometime. The ones I installed are for the civic hatchback because that is what I drive. You will need to confirm with your dealership to see if they will the civic sedan.

Because im unsure if the color would match the black paint correctly? The visors you bought from the Dealership look like they are color matched but its harder when you look online yknow? The pictures that college hills has kinda looks like an off black like dark greyish

I knew I didn't reply to this comment.. good thing I remembered. College Hills Honda has the same ones as I do. If you order the GENUINE Honda accessory visors they will always come in that really dark smoked grey/blackish looking plastic. They don't come in different colours if you buy the honda ones. Just make sure you order the right ones (i.e for Hatchback or Coupe or Sedan).
