I love the interior of the Honda. I own a Cruze similar to this. The Honda definitely has some pros over the Cruze but man do I love driving the Cruze and the styling. It’s simply such an amazing car. A year later and I’m still keeping it looking new. Not to mention the drive is so damn smooth!!

@@cherylann1602if you buy the steering wheel with the cruise control I'm pretty sure it will work. On the 1st gen the cruise control was just whether or not the steering wheel had the buttons. Now sure if it's the same with the current 2nd gen.

I am driving a 16 Honda Civic black. Yesterday I drove a 14 Cruze, I was impressed by both I'm a used car wholesaler. I like both. But the Cruze seems to have more room. My personal car is a mustang gt. Nice comparison, thank you. I go with the Honda. Due to eco system and good on gas.

I just had my 09 Civic Si totalled by an idiot with no insurance. I wanted another Civic, but I got way more for my money with the 2015 Cruze LTZ RS. I like both. My only complaint so far with the Cruze is there's almost zero storage inside the car. The center console can maybe hold a wallet and checkbook, that's literally about it. My Civic Si was deep with places to story things. Love both, but I'm definitely loving the gas mileage on the LTZ. Although they both are comparable in the 2016 models listed. I love the front of the new civic, but the back end is ugly in my opinion. Both great cars. I'll stick with my 2015 Cruze over that weird 2016.

I just got a cruze that has the exact same color and features. I like the engine start stop while driving in the city, it does help save fuel. However, I really wish that there was an option to disable eco mode while accelerating on the interstate ramp. BTW, if you did get the convenience package car, then why is there no sunroof ? That's supposed be one of the features. Good job on the review. OnStar and Android auto are my in car buddies :).

it's not really a versus if you're a Honda salesperson lol there are so many features in the Cruze she didn't mention and basically demoed the Honda in its entirety, didn't mention how Chevy gives more warranty, how you can get wifi, sun roof, on star send diagnostics to your cell and dealership so if you have low tire pressure or whatever you get an alert and if something else is wrong the dealership is notified so they can set up an appt for you, the Cruze is also more spacious....it doesn't help if you push the seat back all the way..... with the Honda both seats were up to the front. both are good cars but this video was kinda pointless

Personally, I'd rather have a side-by-side tach and speedometer, instead of that huge tach with the tiny digital speedometer. It's more important to know how fast you're going than your engine rpms. Other than that, the Civic is a decent looking car and seems bigger than previous generations.

its an enthusiast thing, i love the giant tachometer, its really interesting and fun to look at. i don't really need to look at my speedometer that much anyways, i go with the flow of traffic. The speedo is just 2 numbers at the end of the day and it's pretty easy to see regardless, but the tach can tell you a whole story. You're cruising and the car says you are getting 20 mpg? Tach is at 3k? Lift off a little to go down to 1.5k, much better mileage and you're also getting information about how hard your car is working, the wear on your engine and transmission, etc.

Civic is nice on the inside but awkward on the outside. The new turbo in the civic is enticing. The new Cruze I like inside and out I like that the car is lighter and faster and more fuel efficient than the last generation which I currently have. I just came from test driving the two. I am loving the civic but I am equally loving the Cruze. That said, both really don't see benefits one over the other. Even the handling. So I am leaning toward the new Cruze for an upgrade, with the Civic as contingency if I cannot get a Cruze how I want it in specs

this is the first time i would actually consider a civic. i own a 2011 cruze up to more than 130k miles and never had any issues or bad experiences. i wanted to get a new one now but i can't justify it yet. after test driving a 2016 cruze i loved it but the civic is still so tempting

My family has had three recent Chevrolets and every single one has rusted within 100,000 miles. I don't mean a little rust here and there either. I mean serious corrosion of structural components of the car like front control arms as well as the side rails on the frame. Look around and you'll see this problem on a number of Chevys. Now, consider that two of the three cars have had serious electrical issues. Malfunctioning seat belt sensors, failing instrument panel, fuel pump failure at 85,000 miles, remote key fob failure, etc. I will not buy GM until they stop producing cars that have to be trashed at 100,000 miles. The Honda is uglier, but the better car.

My first car was my mom's old 04 LS malibu with the 3.5 V6... and it ran until around 280k miles before I forgot cars needed oil changes and blew the thing up... Buut, the only spot that had rust was a penny size dot on the trunk and little specks on the hood. The under body was fine and nothing needed to be replaced. The ppl who bought the car from us, gave us 500 bucks and just put a new engine and transmission in it and sent us pictures of that old thing still on the road today.

Hondas are plagued with road noise is what i've heard from the general public , i'm not sure if it still stands true. Although civic has a more powerful engine , it can't beat a Cruze in Room Isolation i.e Cruze is a much quieter car on the highways than the civics.

Really nice review with nice and clear details of each car. Nice videography as well. But it seems that something is missing and review seems to be focussing somewhere else and hence most of the comments are irrelevant as well of the basic subject of this review.I guess the video could be made more better with less distractions. Better comparison than expected. Back seat shows however the bias more. For example, pointed out the pockets on the back of each seat in the Honda. Did not do the same to point out the pockets on the back seat of the Chevy. Exact same feature, only pointed out on one car. However, have to credit they do talk about OnStar - they did not have to do that. I think she tried to be as unbiased as possible. Me? I like both cars. Probably I would be looking at the Honda Accord and Chevy Malibu/Buick Regal when I look to replace my 2006 Saab 9-3 with 146,000 on it and nearly no repairs (alternator at 70,000 and power steering pump at 140,000). Probably will look at the hybrid model of each - they both look like really good cars!

The Civic 1.5T has better throttle response then the Chey Cruze. With the Cruze, it has the throttle lack so as you press on the gas the car does not quickly respond...feels like you're on Eso mode.

I used to have a civic, now I have a cruze hatchback. I prefer the front of the new cruze, but I prefer the back of the new civic. The civic is faster, but the cruze has start&stop. The civic is prettier inside, but the cruze has the OnStar. It's a hell of a fight... I had 2 civic's, but I think I would go for the 2017 cruze hatchback.

Laura, was the arm rest in the Civic too low in your opinion? To me, the height of the arm rest can make or break a deal. Oh, and please tell Honda to put the blasted volume knob back on the radio! How many critics have to bring this up!

Hey Nat, the center console and arm rest area are like perfect! lol perfect height! I do like a volume knob HOWEVER I can't get enough of people grabbing the climate control knobs trying to turn down the music haha! -Honda Laura

Laura & Nat, I just purchased the Honda Civic EX model and the knob definitely gets to me. Although, i'm loving the touch assist on the steering wheel, a knob wouldn't hurt. The arm rest, @Nat Washburn, was another make it or break it (especially for a guy at 6'2",) but to my surprise is comfortable enough. Great comparison video and to all, not a bad car.

A turbocharger may not be what you want after 70 months when you find out costs of maintaining and long-term effects on powertrain...same goes with CVT transmissions.... and I don't means Hondas' in particular....ANYBODYS' CVT OR TURBO!
