Turned wrenches for 40+ yrs in one capacity or another, and I never used power tools on spark plugs. ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS, BY HAND! Never even used a ratchet, just spark plug socket and an extension until they seated. Then torqued with ratchet. Obviously I’m old school!

Great video! Thank you for the time to show us how it’s done. I didn’t know that crv had both spark plugs and coils

I want to change the plugs soon, so I'm watching a bunch of vids on the 2016 Honda CRV AWD vehicles. I'm seeing some differences, video to video. For one, those spark plugs just look normal to me. But in one video, the spark plug had 2 tips for the spark. Apparently called "twin tips". I've never seen those before in my entire life. For those who done know, instead of the lower leg just being close to the main electrode, the electrode is more of a pin point (ish) and the lower leg has a matching "pin" and that's where the gap is. Have you heard of those? Does this Honda come factory with those? If not, is there any reason to even use those if only reg. plugs are used? With different vids on the same vehicle, showing different things, this can become confusing for we novice types. LOL Ideas please. 👍😁👍

My opinion, NGK iridium is a good plug
@BlondieSL3 ай бұрын
@@lakesautomotivediagnostics6509 Thanks. That's where I was leaning. I suspect that's what is in the vehicle since day 1. Since you know your stuff, what's the difference of the ones (I think NGK too) that is Iridium and Platinum? Any good reason to go Platinum?

Suggest starting by hand when inserting new plugs. Too much chance of cross, threading using power tool because it would be a nightmare to screw up those threads. Also, probably a good idea to torque to proper specification (whatever it is for your vehicle). Glad it worked out for you and thanks for making the video.

Great video, can you tell me what is the size of the gap in the spark plug please
@lakesautomotivediagnostics65095 ай бұрын
I believe it’s.030 ish

@@lakesautomotivediagnostics6509 Do different 2016 Honda CRVs have different gaps? This is the first time I've seen .030. I'm always seeing .044. What would be the difference and how can we be sure which is correct for our vehicles?
@lakesautomotivediagnostics65093 ай бұрын
@BlondieSL you could call your local dealership and get a little bit better than the gap so it might take a size for your vehicle but also your local parts store could probably tell you

@@lakesautomotivediagnostics6509 I was only curious as to why different vids say different numbers. It makes me wonder where people are getting their info for the same vehicle. I do have a Hayes service manual for this, so just before I change the plugs, I'll check that out. As for the dealer, honestly, I don't trust them enough to tell the truth! LOL It's no biggy. I'll figure that out. At least, with vids like yours, I now look forward to changing the plugs. Oh, I should mention, I just did a test with my scanner (unrelated to this) and interestingly, while no fault codes, on a page that shows if there have every been any misfires (looks like a counter over time) there was only 1. So I think that the coils are fine. Prob. plugs too.
