Successfully done brakes 2020 Honda Accord Sport 2.0 Turbo. Back brake pads without scan tool , no lights on dash everything’s right only thing I done different that was not mentioned here was took brake cap off the brake fluid reservoir first and left it off through the whole procedure and put it back on afterwards . Thanks a lot Jonny DIY for all the info saved me $400 !!!! Brake pads only cost me $40

@@nickthegazerofsouls I took the cap off just as a piece of mind , because when u have the cap on and your compressing the caliper in any way mechanical or electrical having the cap off can prevent and internal damage from pressure build up in the lines

When compressing piston check brake fluid resivoir so not to overflow.

Thanks, glad to help. Check for grooving on the the rotors. Can run fingernails on it, should be smooth. Can also use a caliper if have one to check different spots for thicknesses. Also mileage. I change rotors every other pad change 👍

I usually search online for the repai manual or diagrams in the google search images tab. Autozone also has some free repair manual to get those specs too. And also the forums you can find. Just google search what looking for and add "forum" to end of search

I put too much torque and cracked almost broke the plastic mounting ears on the actuator of my R rear brake. Is that gonna be a problem?

It should be fine as long as isn't broken all the way. Could glue it with some jb weld and that will make strong like new 👍

When setting that electronic back parking brake, I see one video using a torx T45 socket to spin the electronic motor, but I see you're using a torx T50 socket to spin it. Which one is correct, the torx T45 or the torx T50 like you're using, or either one?

Different Honda models use different sizes. Whichever size I mentioned will be the one for this CRV 👍

The title said 2016+ but 2016 is the last model of 4th gen (12-16). 17-20 is 5th gen. Are the brakes the same for both gens ?

Yes the same process, 2016 has the electric parking brake as well. Only thing I would double check is torque specs 👍

No bleeding required unless air introduced to system like when removing or changing calipers, wheel cylinders etc

Hi bro, I am planning to replace the pads on my 17 civic and glad to see your suggestions. Please confirm that only the rear pads replacement required to reset the EPB actuator, right? Do the front wheel pads replacement would also need the Honda scan tool for any purpose? Because my local dealers are expensive, for safety reason I may let them do my rear pads, and I will find a repair shop to do the front which can save me some money, if the front are not connecting to any sensitive equipments like EPB or something😢

Fronts you can do without messing with EPB, but if you need fronts and backs may as well just take it all in if not comfortable doing as I showed. Just take to an independent Honda mechanic. Should be cheaper than dealer. Even chain places can do the work, they have access to good scan tools to put it rear brakes in service mode

I have communicated with a good local repair shop and they gave me a reasonable price, almost only half price of normal dealer. When the repair shop use their third party scan tool to calibrate my EPB actuator, would that be high risk to cause potential future brake sensor error? Also, you did mention independent Honda mechanic, where can I find one? Maybe Craigslist? Thanks

@@brachydios3685 I would go with the local repair shop that has quoted you. It should be fine, just let them know that it needs to be done with the scan tool, make sure they are aware of this issue on vehicle. You can find mechanics by searching on Google maps or Yelp 👍

Spend a bit more time on the jack points you use on the vehicle.

Will do John, theres a few different spots. The manual describes all the 4 tabs on sides as jack points, the rear tow hook and theres a cutout under front end too. I usually use one of those and then theres a spot to lift 1 side front from control arms too. Will try and point out next time

@@JonnyDIY I agree with you, I use the same lift locations too. But the manual just shows the locations near the wheel wells. Do you ever jack the CR-v from that round spot like near the engine area or is that what you are referring to as the control arms?

@@jamkpa yes the round spot near engine is the cut out area you can jack the front from. Ive found when I need to jack a side though to get on jackstands the control arm is best. I tried the pinch weld near the jack point on side in this video, but area was too weak to use on a regular basis. The control arm is the big arm that connects the wheel to the car. Theres a big silver round looking bushing you can jack from

Yes, thanks! 10% reduction is safe, although I usually dont adjust unless its engine components. If you dont slather in anti seize I dont think it affects it too much
