To your client's credit, he did provide you a huge clue. I suspect you would have found the problem eventually without it, but it likely would have taken longer, which once supposes goes with the territory. Still though, this diagnosis was a thing of beauty, and entertaining to boot!

I had similar issue on my grand cherokee last month only.. Luckily I have topdon scanner and was able to see the same issue u had.. The right front wheel speed sensor was dropping out and causing abs and Eps and cruise control to fuss. Replacing the wheel speed sensor fixed my issue

I ran into a similar issue on a 2017 F350 a couple of years ago. ABS and Stabilitrac lights on in the dash and codes for the ABS module, RR speed sensor, and steering wheel control module. I went after the easiest thing first which was the speed sensor. Road test verified that there was no MPH showing on the scanner for that wheel. Tested voltage on both rear sensor wires and they were the same and in spec. I replaced the RR speed sensor and it fixed all of the codes.

The moment you started the vehicle after sensor installation you can see that right side started at 3.73 mph while left side started around 4.95 mph and then dropped down to 3.73 mph. That behavior seamed weired to me. Maybe it was some sort of calibration or rezeroing. I wish you had cough it and compared to a fresh movement graphed both sensors with both tires on and vehicle actually driving down the road.
@OzMechanicsАй бұрын
That happened because one tire was off on the left side while the other side had the tire. That’s why it set a performance code. Once I put the tires on and retest it that’s when it showed that all the codes were cleared, as I explained on the video. Hope this clears it up. Thanks for watching
@DallasAutoDiagАй бұрын
@@OzMechanics correct and as I mentioned I was hoping that you would catch it and graph the signal without the tire and with the tire mounted and compare in hope to understand more the behavior. Maybe it was the aftermarket sensor that was installed. Who knows.

I found this video a little confusing and disturbing. Ok, just confusing. At the beginning you're talking about the symptoms being the instrument cluster lights going off and on and the steering getting hard. But then you started talking about the wheel speed sensor. Surely you're not saying that the wheel speed sensor caused all that, are you?
@OzMechanicsАй бұрын
In the beginning of the video as you saw, the instrument cluster didn’t have any light. But as soon as I drove to the parking lot, the lights illuminated on the cluster. Did you finish the whole video?
@joeandgod1Ай бұрын
@@OzMechanics yes, but I guess I missed something. I also didn't understand how the steering wheel got easy by itself. I guess the steering module started communicating. I'll have to watch it again.
@OzMechanicsАй бұрын
@@joeandgod1 yea this was a confusing one, but as the customer was stating, when the problem happened, he noticed that the instrument cluster lights would come on and the steering wheel would get hard. And when he got it check out, it came out with lost communication codes, most likely the power steering control module.
@R3YNZАй бұрын
@@joeandgod1 I don't think the steering control module ever lost communication. I think it got hard because since its electric power steering and not by a hydraulic pump the module needs to see correct wheel speed to operate correctly. So, when it would lose the left wheel speed signal it would act up and then back to normal when the wheel speed signal was back. Modern vehicle sure overcomplicate things. I had a 2018 chevy colorado steering get hard due to stuck open thermostat.
