I'm still driving 2006 Lancer. And the more I see of the Outlander I like it. It looks great, seems comfortable, is roomy. The Outlander has an amazing warranty, great safety ratings and is a great value. I can't see complaining about sportiness. It seems to deliver exactly what it supposed to. A quality compact crossover that can compete againt mid sized crossovers.

I drive a critically panned 2015 Mirage DE 5-speed manual and although it's not a luxury car and certainly won't win a drag race for value and durability Mitsubishi really shines. The car seems well built and has given me zero mechanical problems in the 31,000 miles I've owned it. Mitsubishi Motors really makes a reliable product albeit with not as many frills as some of the other makes. For reliability and value, I am impressed with Mitsubishi as an owner even with their lowest and cheapest product.

I like the mirage as well. The g4 is a nice option.

I will only buy a Mitsubishi. Yes I had those same heated seat buttons in my Galant but they work just fine. Why should Mitsubishi spend money to change something that works great. I don't agree that it feels cheap on the inside, but that's just me. I am also not one of those people that wants a sporty drive, it's a SUV not a sports car. Mitsubishi may never be as popular as other brands but it has a colt like following. Once you own one you will understand.

when you consider the price for a fully loaded outlander vs similar sized suvs outlander will save you lots of money and it has a great awd system

yeah it is a very great suv, I been driving in a foot in half of snow, even took it on the ice with two of snow for ice fishing. yeah s-awc works and 10 year warranty is a no brain er. I believe the only closest competitor is the forester. I want a suv that works. I really do not want to be stuck in the middle of nowhere. its rally racing tec works well on snowy covered road. always gets me home fast

Hi Paul, good review. I disagree with you for the interior quality. I got the base 4*4 version and there are lots of soft touch materials that you cannot find with any other brands in the similar price range. Have you touched the dash at all? i.e CRV has hard plastics all over there. Another thing about seats quality is you need to measure the comfort after several hours of continuous driving. My last car model before Outlander was a Mitsubishi Galant, first Mitsu for me. I did not have any problem with that car at all and the quality was really impressive. Here are some features that I could not find with the other same-class brands: Best warranty in industry, top safety, roominess, reasonable price while the base model equipped with many good features such as heated seats, leather rapped steering wheel and gear shift and wiper de-icer, nice CVT feel, true all wheel drive (with Lock-in) and quietness. What do you think?
@FamilyWheels9 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! I totally agree and mention those features as really excellent examples that make this car stand out. But I do find the interior a little cheap feeling compared to Hyundai, Mazda and Kia. I prefer their price to interior finish ratio.

Soft-touch does NOT equal quality. 😂

Eeeeek! It sends shivers down my spine to see stuff being spilled on those seats. It must be a challenge to clean that all out before you deliver the vehicle back to dealerships.

I have an 2014 outlander, love it for the most part, if you get crazy with the gas peddle you lose fuel quickly even with a 4 banger. Might buy the 2017 GT. Wish it had the 3.5 or the 3.2 so I could get a bit more towing power.

Great video. I think the Outlander is a small-midsize tweener SUV like the Rogue, Journey, and Sorento. I'd take an Outlander over the Journey and Rogue but the Sorento is hard to beat except it's higher prices.

If you want to haul a mid size trailer, get a used first-generation Sequoias. If you can pick up 2018-2019 GT for sub 20K, it is a good deal and you won't regret it. That 3.0-liter engine has been around for some time and it is a reliable vehicle.

I have been looking at a newer vehicle. I want something with a good awd. I have been looking at Subaru Crosstreks and Jeep Renegades and Jeep Compass but this is really looking like it might be a bargain for a used one.

Well I finally got to see & drive one today; a $37,000 GT S-AWC. Honestly while the value proposition is there & build quality is a big step up from our own 2009 LS, it still FEELS like the car we own. Powertrain is identical if handling is bit sharper thanks to S-AWC yaw control. It has everything one can ask for on a modern family vehicle, but despite the navigation & leather, it feels like a car designed more for 2nd or 3rd world countries (where Mitsubishi still reigns supreme) but dressed up to be marketed to the 1st world country like Canada. It is a screaming good deal considering its pricing & feature content, but if you're willing to pay just a tad bit more, the Kia Sorento, GMC Acadia & even the Ford Explorer just blows the Outlander out of the water.

Yet here I am, owner of a Ford Explorer 365hp twin turbo...all the bells, whistles, leather, etc Sport trim....looking at the new outlander because my wife's Explorer is broke AGAIN.....and I'm having to use my 2007 Outlander as backup. Outlander has given me precisely 0 problems in well over 200,000 miles. Ole tried and true. Ole reliable. Almost bought a new Outlander. I fell victim to the bigger, 365hp vehicle that, on paper was better in every way, but has had way too many problems. Shoulda went with instinct instead of impulse.

OK Paul....I don't mean to nit-pick, but...In your forester review you complained that, that vehicle only had a 1500 pound towing capacity, but you raved about how much the Ford Escape's towing capacity was with 3500 lbs, and now in this review, the Outlander has 3500lbs or more and you are complaining that that's not enough.....so contradictory
@FamilyWheels7 жыл бұрын
Hi Peter, I can see how you might see that. But the Outlander is playing in a different category with vehicles that can tow 5,000 lbs. So it's all relative to the competition.

I hope the build quality improved. My father has a 09 Outlander V6 and while it has been reliable, good value and capable in winters, there are lots of small little nitpicks. The build quality is hit & miss; light bulbs & 12v outlets flickering due to bad connections, faulty TPMS, rattling driver-side window & exhaust cover shield, abysmal fuel economy (~13.5l/100km city or ~11l/100km combined on a sunny day). Also somehow, the annual maintenance at the dealership somehow exceeds that of the maintenance of our Mercedes-Benz. Not good. Given the chance to choose again, both myself and my father are hard-pressed to walk back to Mitsubishi. A Rav4 or Escape (or Highlander & Explorer if you need that 3rd row) would be much better options. Yes they do cost more once the options list are ticked, but they are built MUCH better in comparison to Mitsubishi, made in Japan cache be damned. No wonder this company never gets more recognition outside of its niche audience (and fans of the late Lancer Evolution).

i'm on my second mitsubishi....both outlanders (2016 and 2017) Horrible build quality. 4 months into owning it , the ABS module started leaking lots of brake fluid....destroyed all the paint in engine bay and subframe. Mitsubishi said too bad. Now , brand new car with exposed sheet metal ...will rust in a year. Lots of other issues with the car also. side view mirror cracked in half while driving on highway...never seen something like that in my life...nobody believes me...including the dealer. Interior squeaks and rattles after few months of fine pavement driving. Long warranty only looks good on paper...when things go wrong, they don't want to know you exist. Their warranty seems like a marketing tool. I wanted something different than the usual honda and toyota....big costly mistake on my part. also, their dealerships are 3rd world...1 mechanic, 1 service rep..etc.....mom/pop feel when you deal with them. i live in fort lauderdale , so lots of dealers around....all with the same feel....subpar. Good news is they never feel crowded...show rooms are ghost towns. For what you get , their pricing should be way under the competition....by a 1/4 , just to stay in business. Both my cars averaged 15 mpg combined ....for a small suv ( i gave mitsu a shot because of long financing deals they had....6 years at 0 apr....wasn't worth it.
