I have the 4 cylinder 2017 Camry SE, it’s currently at 127K and it still feels the exact same as it was brand new. Starts right up every time in the brutal Minnesota winters and handles the snow like a champ. One of the best cars ever built in my opinion.

Though bland, these Camrys are a little under appreciated. They’re extremely reliable, the build quality is good, they’re very comfortable and have “good enough” road manners. In 10-20 years, they’ll probably be remembered as the 3rd and 4th gen Camrys are today as unstoppable and dependable workhorses.

I inherited a 2000 Toyota Echo from my grandfather in 2003. It had about 40k on it when I got it and had been in a couple of minor accidents. I sold it in 2014 with 267k miles on it. I replaced tires, brakes, belts, water pump, mass air sensor and one battery. I could never have hoped for a better free car!

My best friend has a 14 Corolla and I ragged him about buying a bland penalty box, but driving it a handful of times, and riding in it a bunch, I’ll say it’s quite pleasant. It’s got 130,000 on it and he hasn’t had a moment’s trouble out of it. He told me he will drive it till the wheels fall off.

My brother has a 2013 SE that he got last year after the untimely demise of his Avalon in a fender bender. VVT is a magical thing. Super flat and fat torque curve for the rated power level and being a 4 cylinder. Great cars.

The company I for for apparently doesn't believe in retiring a company vehicle. I've been in my issued 2006 Tundra since 2009. It had 30,000 miles at the time, now it has 498,000. it's needed several items repaired by the time it reached 250,000 miles, just the typical moving parts that wear out on any vehicle, no major breakdowns. Still on it's original 1GR-FE v6, transmission, AC compressor with factory charge. I run those Michelin Defenders as well, and get 90-100,000 miles out of them. No interior or exterior trim pieces have broken/fallen off, or seats torn up. Headliner is still perfect. Never a problem with power windows, and locks either. It's held up well, and I have no complaints. Looking forward to see your next company vehicle.

Good GRIEF!! LOL... The retirement mileage has trended upwards. 20 years ago when they used Ford Tauruses it was about 100k or 2 years. Now it's 150,000 and 4 or 5 years.

@@TylersNeighborhoodGarage Haha, especially for this company! Fortunately, I don't have to spend a dime out of pocket. I just let them know what needs to be done, the price, and they say get it done. I bought one of these recently when I realised I was doing far too many miles for the Subaru Levorg 2L turbo I had before. Just my work/run around car doing a fairly long commute so the simple Camry is perfect for that running. Just cruises on the highway an hour or 2 a day so it should last forever I think! Not the flashiest car but it’s nice enough, and we use my wife’s car for the family on weekends. Up to 139,000km so far with nothing but oil changes.

Well that ruins my guess, intrigued to see what it is now though. Honda stopped importing the Accord to the UK a few years back which is grim. Slim pickings here if you want a decent saloon car, country seems to have gone mad for small and extra small SUVs.

Truly amazing how durable cars have become, especially ones from Japanese companies. Imagine how much maintenance it took to go 167,000 miles in a Valiant🙂. Our Maxima and Odyssey have treated us better than any other car we have owned. Scotty Kilmer is a hack!!! That’s why people watch him😄

Scotty is such a hack. It is amazing though. My friends have a 2002 Maxima that is VERY close to 300k, I think it's at 294k and it honestly runs amazingly well for what it is. Exhaust is a bit loud but other than that it really purrs like a kitten.

Its too bad your company’s leasing company doesn’t give you the option to buy the car when it comes time to turn it in. You’d make a small fortune on selling it! My father in-law was in outside sales and got company cars for 30 years. He was able to purchase his old car at turn in. At that time anyway, the prices were basically wholesale. He never bought any but my wife and I bought his 1998 Pontiac Grand Prix with around 70,000 miles back in 2001. We passed on his next turn in (2002 Grand Prix) because it was too much like the ‘98 and we didn’t see any reason to buy the same basic car over again when we didn’t need it. His last car (before he retired) was a 2004 or 2005 Dodge Intrepid. He intended to buy it as his retirement car but it gave so much trouble during his time with it, that he decided against it. His leasing company only dealt with American brands. At the time, he could only chose from midsized four doors from a catalog but he could chose the color and pay up for option packages out of pocket. He has probably put more miles on more Ford Taurus over the 1980s-1990 than anyone I have ever known. I agree about “Click Bait Scotty”! I don’t need to hear about how Toyota are perfect and that any other car built since 1985 is and will always be junk! I would never trust a mechanic that hates all car makes but one. I think he started making KZbin videos as a last ditch effort to keep eating after he pissed off his last customer.

They buy them, not lease. Some folks that have retired bought their cars if they were low-mileage.

I’d have to wonder that if Tyler can drive a Camry to 167,000 with noting more than oil changes, a couple of sets or tires, one battery, and a set of wiper blades, then I’d have to believe all the recommended fluid changes (wallet flushes) only serve to line the pockets of repair shops and dealers.
@TylersNeighborhoodGarage3 жыл бұрын
It was like clockwork that the "service advisor" would come out to the waiting area and try to upsell me on fuel injection services each time I took it in for servicing. I politely declined. I followed the schedule on oil changes, had the air filter changed every 30K, the cabin filter every 50K and otherwise that was it. Nothing else was required to be done by the manual. My co-worker had this car's "stablemate" and it went 178K with no extra costs involved.
