Welcome to our review of the new generation, unbreakable Hilux SR5 - Awarded the country’s best 4x4 dual cab, lets check out what makes this ute so uncompromisingly tough.
Toyota has taken tough to a whole new level with this model. With its wide stance and imposing presence, HiLux is purposely designed to make it easier to load and handle the hardest jobs.
The new generation model features chunky front bumpers and contrasting grille, plus a chrome sports bar, rear step and side steps as standard.
The new model also features LED day running lamps and Fog lamps as standard along with 18” alloy wheels.
The new Hilux is modern and masculine - yet this powerful all rounder is more refined than ever and provides unrivaled levels of comfort and space.
There’s plenty of advanced technologies like smart entry and smart start to get you in and going even while your key’s still in your pocket.
To keep you cool, climate controlled air conditioning comes standard in the SR5 model. And when it comes to great sound, the AM/FM/CD player, which includes USB and Bluetooth connectivity, will keep you rocking to all your favorite tracks!
Satellite navigation comes standard on the SR5 variants and with integrated GPS to help guide you to and from your chosen destination, it’s pretty hard to get lost.

Hilux SR5 also features a 4x2 / 4x4 toggle switch which allows you to prepare for any terrain at the touch of a button making that transition from unsealed road to better driving conditions effortless.
The Hill-start Assist Control makes rollbacks a thing of the past, while Active Traction Control delivers fantastic grip on slippery or uneven surfaces.
And for even greater control Hilux SR5 boats Downhill Assist Control which when engaged, automatically maintains low speed control when driving down steep, slippery and bumpy slopes.
Need to take charge of a heavy load? HiLux tows up to a hefty 3.5 tonnes with the Turbo Diesel Manual.
While we’re talking numbers, the 2.8L Turbo Diesel engine delivers 450nw pulling power with fuel efficiency as low as 8.5L per 100km, which makes this the strongest and most power turbo diesel Hilux ever.
Of course with all this power, you’ll want to know you can stop quickly and safely, and that’s no worries!
The Anti-lock Braking System with Electronic Brake-force Distribution helps to do just that plus the addition of Traction Control and Vehicle Stability Control help maintain grip on slippery surfaces and when cornering.
And with a 5 star ANCAP safety rating you know HiLux has you in safe hands. There are seven airbags as standard plus, a reversing camera which allows you to better identify any obstacles that may be hidden in mirror blind-spots behind you.
And of course it makes reversing into tight spaces not only safer, but easier too.
Trailer Sway Control is a welcome addition to Hilux which automatically uses brake and engine output control to help limit trailer movement should it experience excessive sway from cross winds, uneven road surface or sudden steering changes made by the driver.

what a laughable review. After personally owning the " tough" and "unbreakable" Toyota Hilux, I can attest that it is far from that. Toyota is now masters of marketing, whereas before they were known for masters of reliability. The king is dead.
