I test rode one of these and it was the smoothest motorcycle I've ever ridden. Smooth motor, smooth shifting, handling, ect. I ended up buying a Tuono 1100 RR that I wasn't allowed to test ride. That bike turned out to be an angry animal all the time, just like it was about to pounce. Completely unnecessary on the street. I've got a Scrambler 1200 now, but at some point, I still might get one of these to just finish scratching that itch. I don't care that it's not the newest most powerful version out at this point, so I can take advantage of the depreciation on a used one, with no remorse, ha. The MI-2 (movie) bike was an original Speed Triple and you can have one of those for like $2-$3K now. I think a 2016 in 2025 sounds like a much nicer option. This on a twisty road should be all kinds of fun.

Loved my two Speed Triple 1050's. But riding a Monster 1200 R now, which (like this latest Speedy) is significantly better (160 hp, 100 torques, Ohlins, Marchesini, Brembo M50, etc). They're all getting so good now, we're really spoilt for choice!

So many vloggers people take bikes out along the Leighton Buzzard Road from Palmers Triumph Hemel . It's actually good because the surface is pants and the traffic heavy. ( ie real world). Good review from the immaculate TMF as per.
@andrewwillcox52528 жыл бұрын
Another visit to Herts Triumph I see. That road probably sells 20% of all their bikes! I'm very local, so head there regularly. On the rare (and I mean very rare) occasion it's empty it's absolutely spectacular. At the end turn right for a good road or left to ride through a forest...can't go wrong.
@TheMissendenFlyer8 жыл бұрын
Yeah it's the best local jaunt I know from there if you've only got a short time with the bike, as you say, soooo much better when the traffic is light/non existent....

Totally agree with your review here mate. Test rode the Speed 'R' a few weeks ago and can't say enough about how much I loved it. Reminded me of my old Streety in how it felt, light, flickable and lots of lovely three cylinder sound. Was looking to get one, but the Speed 'R' is just about out of my price range, so maybe thinking of getting the 'S'. Once I set the Street 'R' up with slightly softer than standard settings I loved it, so not sure I'd take full advantage of the fully adjustable suspension anyway, so other than the badge and resale value, I'm not sure what's holding me back from pushing the button on it.
@TheMissendenFlyer8 жыл бұрын
Yeah I agree, the Street with a bit of suspension set-up and softening makes a great bike. I actually preferred the look of an all black "S" they had in the dealer over the "R" - I'm so insensitive things like Ohlin's suspension are lost on me anyway!

Well that's it, as you might recall I've been trying to fine tune my Triumph stable that been The Explorer, The Thruxton and my new rs 765. So having thought about the classic solid Thruxton and it's sound, looks handling and sheer prettiness, she's staying. The rs is staying, coz it is lol. However it's going to get some special treatment and soon to be triumphed up with Daytona fairing, clip ons, loose the rear pegs, re mapping and ecru adjustment and few bits including paint job stealthy black and grey with matt gold to enhance the hills and arrow can yellow bits. All Triumph stuff that'll look very unique and be a special machine. And finally the frankly massive explorer a great solid bike very capable is going to go for the awesome speed triple r, arrows and few bits. Nearly went for Yamaha mt10 but breaks and poor compared to the brembo set, sound and handling on speed is brilliant. It's butch, solid, engine is just one of if not the best I've used ( had the 1050 sport before) and it's power and yet grace. Just to say thanks for the reviews as they do help give a honest and informative view of Triumphs. Hey love to see a rocket review, if money and garage space wasn't an issue I'd have one they ain't called rocket for nothing holy moly.

I rode that earlier in the year, also tested the s1000r. The Triumph doesn't stand out in a particular area against the other nakeds. It's capable buy uninspiring. The Tuono on the other hand. That V4, if I was in the naked market right now, forget the MT10, even the big 1290, Aprillia would be getting my money.

+TheMissendenFlyer The Tuono is a rarer beast on our roads; a crime really. Italian styling with a lovely balanced chassis, and the V4 engine. It's a no brainer. Any biker who knows his onions would have that beast in his cave.

Enjoyed that cheers TMF. Still looks a bit chunky for my liking and as others have said, the exhausts are not a thing of beauty. The one thing they do add though is good view of that single sided swing arm, which does look lovely. I will test ride one of these when I'm thinking of selling my Street Rx but by then it'll have the new Street triple to be compared against as well. Happy riding!

No I haven't but I very much like the look of it, it's just (with having the GS) I don't particularly fancy two boxer engine bikes at the same time...not that I have anything against them. Front runner for me at the moment is the Tuono, how have you found it??
@jamsxr8 жыл бұрын
+TheMissendenFlyer I've been riding 13 years and had as many different bikes (coming from an 899) and it's the most capable/best performing bike I have owned. The V4 combined with a stunning chassis is a fantastic combination, I've just done 3,000 in Europe and it was faultless. I do however want to slow down on the road so think it's time for something I can have fun on but does not encourage me to do warp speed - need a track bike for that!

Hmm. Interesting. I've got a 1050 Sprint ST, 125hp, so not quite up with the newer ones. Did a swapsie with a 2013 Street R recently and the Street was way, way more fun and agile. Even though it was noticeably down on power, it's far the more exciting bike through the twisties. Be interesting to compare this new Speed to it. And of course there's the new Street 800 bikes coming. Allegedly 105 up to 140 horses. Thing is, the current Streets really do look the business. I'm being tempted away from my beloved Sprint!

Good review Mr flyer ,,considering I only live 4 miles away from the triumph factory and a friend I don't see to often is a test rider for them ,,, I've yet to see one in the flesh,, my 11 plate is probably similar to the old one you rode ,, mine is a 11 plate ,, riding the weight is no problem to me but then I've threw a blackbird about with the misses on the back on the mountain section of the tt circuit and they are quite a heavy bike ,, however I think sometimes heavy is a good thing they tend to be more stable in some situations ,,like the led running lights and attention to detail on this bike however considering how many changes they have made to the engine the increase in power is pretty pathetic,, it hasn't the butte power to need all that crappy electronics different power modes ,,,my old zx10 was somewhere round 180 bhp that didn't have anything either ,,you learn to control brakes and power with a fine touch,, think it's gonna create super pussys ,,,anyhow take shane

Nice review, I did consider buying this latest updated Speed Triple. I owned a 2012 machine for about 18 months and enjoyed it very much, only issues I had were the leg position being a little cramped and the fact that I enjoyed riding my wife's Street Triple even more, even though the Street was way too cramped for my large frame. I've recently purchased one of the competitors to the Triumph Speed Triple, a bike that for me I've found the most exciting, fun and utterly bonkers bike created....the Yamaha MT10. It's very much like a Street Triple in handling just much more powerful. I was disappointed Triumph could only get the power up to about 140 when completion including the Yamaha are up at 160+.

Okay, there I just rented a 2016 Speed Triple form a local guy where I live and this is NOT an upright bike, this sits exactly like a sports bike, you do not sit upright at ALL on this bike. Everyone keeps saying you sit upright but you dont and its super annoying.
