have put 16k on my 2011 Storm. Had just a couple of minor things, brake fluid leaks, squeaking belt, but overall a fantastic experience. Fast, smooth, predictable, reliable, everything I wanted in a cruiser! The brute power and weight does destroy tires quickly, just gotta deal because the performance is worth it. The matte black is ridiculous good too, gets complimented on very often.
@tms3725 жыл бұрын
Interesting. I've had no brake leak problems and the belt never squeaks, have you adjusted it ? You CAN rip the tire off like any powerful bike. Purchase a scooter if tire wear bothers you.

UPDATE: I know this is 4 yrs old. I bought one of these last year (2022) Its such a beast. Pulled stock stuff out. K&N, BC Hog Slayer pipes. Cat removed. Dyno Tuned. Power band from 83.8 to 88.3 and Tq 103.7 to 111 Ft Lbs. Get it off the stock tires and put a AVON Storm on the rear. I upped the front to a 130. In the twisties it cuts in like crazy! Its not an inline. That would be a Rocket. This is a PARALLEL TWIN. The largest one ever made. For a windscreen I got a ATV generic shield from Amazon that looks great and I found the sweet spot to have no head buffeting. I just spent my winter repainting to British Green and Copper. I have also swapped out the rider pegs for Kuryakyn Mini boards. Custom stuff is now hard to find for this bike but its SOOO worth it. I wish Triumph would have figured out how to market it much better. The biggest complaint, the Clutch pull distance and the Brake leaver. Couldn't we have gotten some adjustable ones??

@roadrunner405 жыл бұрын
@@tms372 I bought a Thunderbird in 2013. About four months later I bought a Rocket III. The t-bird is a great bike but it is a piece of s*** in comparison to the Rocket III. I didn't ride the TBird for a year-and-a-half after I bought the Rocket 3. Tried and couldn't sell it for a decent price although it's a great bike, nobody wants them including the dealership. contrary to what people think the Rocket 3 is only 50 pounds heavier than the Thunderbird with almost double the power (with a little tuning). It has more ground clearance and therefore it leans farther, turns better than the Thunderbird. It is of course faster and every respect. 1700cc vs 2300cc and gas mileage as I have found is virtually the same. The Thunderbird does feel lighter because the seat height is lower giving you more leverage. You only feel the weight when sitting on the bike and pushing it backwards or while trying to carry it on your shoulders. it may be the wide rear tires on these bikes but I can actually stop at a traffic light and not put my feet down for 5 seconds. Slow-speed maneuvering parking lot maneuvering is no problem whatsoever. but I've been riding so-called heavy Cruisers my whole life so maybe it's just easy for me.

Parallel Twin means- Both pistons reach top dead centre together. Their four strokes, Compression, combustion, exhaust and induction are parallel.
@mrswinkyuk6 жыл бұрын
Wrong, the crank is offset by 90 degrees. It's a parallel twin because the cylinder centre lines are parallel. In other words, the guy was right. BTW, even on those twins with the crank centres together, the firing order is usually 360 degrees offset.
