Peterson doesn't understand Marxism or postmodernism on a fundamental level. Postmodernism by all definitions is a metaphysical idea guided by time as a nonlinear abstract, whereas Marxism confines itself directly to the physical world. This is the main conflict between these ideologies and why a person can't reasonably be either. Actual postmodernists and actual Marxists are very antagonistic toward one another. But this is one in a very long line of Peterson pretending to understand things that he doesn't have a clue about, be it biology, anthropology, history, gender studies, etc.

Very, very good. I'm in grade 12, Australia, and every speech we do in English is about prejudice and social justice (sexism, "ableism", racism, Islamophobia, "classism"). It is really obvious that we are not learning how to write well, but instead how to pick out "prejudices" or rather, make up prejudices and go on about how it is everywhere and people are racist and so on. It seems as if they want us to believe everyone is equal in every way, when in reality: "Human beings are born with different capabilities, if they are free, they are not equal, and if they are equal, they are not free"- Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn. I really appreciate Dr Peterson speaking up about the indoctrination that is so prevalent in the education system.
@jean-louispech49216 жыл бұрын
solzhenitsin confuses identity/uniformity with social equality. It is a false claims. Is is social equality, equality in humanity, equality in rights, equal access to service, equality of choices . Inequality allows to think some people as subhumans or even non human, meaning a thing that can be killed without remorse. Rejecting equality leads to : slavery , talibans and daesh with women , nazism with the genocid of jews and other, etc... Inequality is just a justification for dominating, exploiting, harming , or destroying the other. It is not moral. You can't defend democracy, freedom, etc... and defending inequality, rejecting equality. It is not logical. Democracy imply citizen with equal political rights, yes this is equality. Dictatorships are based on inequal politic power, inequal economic power, social inequality. There is no freedom without equality. Slave are not free because they don't have equality of humanity, equality of right, equality of speech, equality of freedom of moving, etc.... When slaves are equals to their master, a "free man", then they become free, this is the abolition of slavery. How can you believe that there is no freedom if the slaves are not equal to their master? Nazi could not mass killing jews if they had treat them as brother in humanity, equals in humanity. On the other hand nazism dreamed of germans with the same hair color, eyes colors, skin color, etc... while being very inequalitarians. It is the case for all oppressions. In USSR there was no equality between staline, the nomenklatura and the rest of the nation. This why the regime was oppressive. And this is the reason why real marxist or socialists say that "it is not real communism" because it does not follow the main focus of communism : social equality. Where there is a dictator , there is no social equality. If you treat the others as your equal you don't agress them, you don't think them as harfull at first sight. Equality between two people means pacific relations between peoples. Equality between peoples favor empathy, instead of violence. It leads to more moral acts than inequality.

Dr. Peterson, I encountered this dilemma when I transferred to DePaul University in Chicago, IL. Fortunately, I began my studies at a small college in Houston, Texas (University of St. Thomas). This school placed a strong emphasis on classical education and was steeped in Aristotelian virtue ethics. Having studied Greek and Scholastic philosophy, I found myself less susceptible to the pernicious reprogramming at DePaul. Yet I couldn’t help but feel sympathy for those incoming Freshman, lacking the necessary tools to understand what was happening. When I transferred, I was told that all incoming Freshman and transfer students must take a “multiculturalism” course. I selected the most moderate looking course (something about “multicultural Chicago"). However, on day one of the class I was informed that it had been changed to “Understanding Race and Racism.” I was then told that all the other courses were either filled or cancelled. Thus, I was forced to spend an entire semester learning exactly what you have been talking about. Praise God I had the background to see through the professor’s agenda. In a way, I am grateful for the experience, because I know the truth of what you are saying first hand.

There are women who agree with Prof Peterson's reasoning. I abhorred that the philosophy course I did expected me to adopt a post-modernist mindset. I tried to argue the lack of logical coherence in the relativist argument but got nowhere. She stated that "it's simply not true that there is an objective truth!!! To which I replied " isn't that a universal claim?!!!" She loved Foucault, who I could not stand, and who I found immoral and unoriginal. I'm not a conservative, so it's not just the right who reject post-modernist perspectives.
@paulcoddington6647 жыл бұрын
Post-modern perspectives are fundamentally incompatible with science, which is my field (post-graduate neurobiology, plus side interests in other disciplines). According to political tests, I am mostly middle-left classic liberal, but in reality I've tried to cultivate an attitude of "let each idea stand or fall on merit" (that is, what conclusions do established facts and reason lead to?). I don't pretend I'm doing anything other than attempting to live up to that, because I know humans are good at fooling themselves. Any conclusion I come to, I try to hold on to it lightly in case new evidence is presented. I have been wrong about some things in the past, I will be wrong about some things in the future. On the basis of what I am seeing so far, I have slowly and reluctantly come to the conclusion that the post-modern movement is one of the most serious threats to human civilisation since the 1930's. Because once education is corrupted, all the foundations of civilisation will crumble within a few generations. By comparison, Donald Trump is merely (George W. Bush Jr.)² and, I think, is being exploited as the Reichstag Fire by the post-modernists (although, yes, he really is an incompetent, dangerous fool). Post-modern social theories are hauntingly similar to caste systems, apartheid, Lysenkoism and Deutsche Physik. Most of the evidence I see for such conclusions is produced by the post-modernists themselves: in journals, in newspaper articles, in social media posts. They have written their Mein Kampf, so we know what they are up to. No third party commentary is required to reach this conclusion. Watching so many people pat themselves on the back for taking part in the trendy new racism, sexism and hate speech of our times (while sincerely believing themselves to be free of and fighting against sexism/racism/hatred) is extremely unsettling, to say the least. Most people look at the superficial wrapping of "human rights advocacy" and look no deeper. For this reason, it is trivial to convince them that being opposed to post-modernism is the same as being opposed to human rights.

paperEATER101 Jonathan Haidt brings up an interesting aspect on the subject in The Righteous Mind, in particular how the extreme left people in general tend to lack the understanding of certain moral values, what i mean is its not necessarily about agreeing, but to be able to comprehend certain positions, which, to really oversimplify it, enables people to have a conversation about the disagreement. Now we are all subject to this, and it's possible to program people into this, whether it be on purpose or, which is probably usually the case, as a result of pathological altruism based on some really faulty understanding. Anyway... This data coupled with the knowledge of how the brain works, i.e. combining long term memory with the thinking part of the brain, and how a well programmed long term memory can render it completely resistant to conflicting ideas, might give you some hints on how to work on a cure for this mind virus. Basically you need to reach the thinking part, which enables it to hold conflicting ideas, sort of nudge and massage that part, similarly to training a muscle, and hopefully a healthy brain should start functioning again, simply through questioning its own sincerity. Maybe ;) I hope :-P

He is good. Very much in line with sikhism sometimes. Sikh gurus wrote against anti-religion/anti-dharam that might spread in the absence of religion/dharam. One of them goes in detail how over-sexualization of society might cause problems.. incest, homosexuality etc would become normal.. Traditional boundaries would disappear & new boundaries would be formed..new religions would form & then disappear bcuz they are not based on truth. Humans would act like demons & then this hindu mythical goddess(for visualization purposes, otherwise sikhs don't believe in these myths) appears to crush them & reestablish Dharam. Basically a battle of good vs evil, in the external world & as well as inside ur mind to conquer evil. Basically how JP uses christian stories. That goddess represents Truth & wisdom that a learned sikh would have to fight these battles. Many more hindu mythical stories & battles used to illustrate good vs evil & the fight within mind to conquer your senses, greed, lust, anger etc.

*sigh* It isn't about religion/lack of religion. It is about the inordinate privileges women have over men in this society, and about the welfare state that came as a result of those privileges being extended to them. If women had no choice but to stay faithful to a man, and raise children with him.. IF what they wanted was to have and raise children, we wouldn't see this sort of decay. If women had to shoulder the responsibilities of men in return for their voting privileges, we would not have this problem. If we didn't have a welfare state, we would not have this problem. We would not have a welfare state, if voting rights were extended only to those whom are compelled into duties around society, aka tax paying and/or military service. Those people would have skin in the game, and would wield their right carefully, and would not vote themselves everyone else's money, since, it is their money. Thats IT. Thats all it is. It has zero to do with religion, except in the fact that religious communities tend to compel women to not divorce their husbands, compel men not to abandon their wives, and compel couples to stay together in order to raise good children. But you don't have to have religion to do that. You have to make the incentives for divorce and abandonment non existent, and increase disincentives on ALL PARTIES, including women. That's it. Its very simple.

Dr. Peterson, The work of Ken Wilber will help you greatly. He has devised a framework that can clearly index all forms of epistemology including phenomenological and empirical (along with many others). The title of this video hints that you are not aware of his work. The paradigms you have discussed in your lectures have been addressed and resolved beautifully in the work of Ken Wilber. It really is impossible for me to understate his clarity. I didn’t know how to contact you and be noticed amongst the waves of feedback you must be receiving. But please, hear my recommendation. His book ‘A Brief History Of Everything’ is a great starting place. Thank you for all your work and keep up the good fight. Regards, Meldar Murals

Thank you for another wonderful presentation. How would the game change if the school invested in the student instead? Drop the price of the education but add in something along the lines of indentured servitude say 5 or 10% of moneys earned for X years. The disciplines which make money are the ones the schools will support as it is in their own best interests as is courting the best students....

Well its the choice of individuals whether they attend postmodern classes, and it seems like they have statistically derived what postmodern classes look like, and are just making an index for people to write in. I don't think that there is anything Orwellian going on, just a voluntary system for people to keep track of what classes they really want to enroll in.

I was talking to my dad the other day and he was talking about how crazy the LGBT community is to be so accepting of Islam taking over America. After a long conversation about how Islam would be the end of America he told me not to worry because there were enough smart Americans that wouldn't allow it to happen. So I told him that it's not the ideas of Islam that I was worried about but the fact that there were so many people openly supporting Marxist and Communist ideas. My dad had a look of horror and disbelief on his face. After a long pause he said "If the communists have gotten to America, don't look for anything to end well. Look at all the other countries where there was Communism."I've never seen my dad so worried for the future. He lived in the Soviet Union. He lived through Communist rule. He knew firsthand what it meant. He came to America to escape all that, only to find, not even two decades later, America was going down that same path of destruction.
