10,000 views! Thank you all so much folks. It may not seem like much but for me that's huge!
My very first instructional video. Here I'm installing a Stationary Elevated Idle Control/High Idle Kit into a 2018 F-350 6.7L. Will work for any 2017-2019 Super Duties. The chart given does not state any Wattage values for the resistor. Chart only states for 1200rpm a 19491 Ohm or 0.971 Voltage resistor is required. Actual measured on installed resistor is just over 20KOhms.
If your looking for the 2020 setup, I finally have my Instructional Video for install out. Check it out here;

My pass through wires are not visible like yours. I can only see 2 pigtails that barely stick out of the fire wall and can't even get my hands on them. On the inside of the panel their isn't much either. Is that right or am I missing something or did Ford just screw me on those wires? Any help is appreciated!

Hello, I will try to help as much as I can! What year is your specific vehicle? Also, the harness maybe be quite thoroughly taped to main harness, so much so it may not be visible. Does your harness have "extra" tape in that area?

Ah i do see some black electrical tape down there. I think that is holding them down. F' could they make it any harder. I am worried about reaching down there my arm is really pressing against the connector for my computer. Is it okay to unplug it or will it throw some things of unhooking it?

Thank you Shamus for the teachable explanation. I had to look long and hard to find the 1 then blank then 11 on the housing. However by counting I found the CORRECT YELLOW AND GREEN STRIPE, Why the caps! Well because as per other videos that dont tell you the pins you can easily ( 50/50 shot ) grab the OTHER yellow and green # 18 and then when you mock it up ,put it all together and you get a big fat WTHeck? nothing. I also used WAGO connectors inside the truck as it miserable to work in however it is clean and dry. They work fabulous positive lock or unlock no wire damage, no voltage drop and if you get 2- two slot connecters you can then insert the green and the white with brown and then snap in or out different resisters. If you wish to or remove the wire job easy and clean. I used one on the pass through wire also. Outside I’ll use weather pack connectors. 2019 Ford F-250 6.7

It was done on 2019 F350 Platinum. Cheers 🤙🏽

I done this to my 2017 f350 when I purchased the truck and passed the wire at the same place as you did across the fire wall with loom cover just as you did, but the heat from the engine melted all the loom . I had to purchase heat insulation to protect the wire from the manifold heat. Did you have an issue with your loom over the wire melting.

Oh really? I haven't had any issues so far. I've had one where after some time the loom got brittle but the wire was intact and not melted. Thanks for letting me know, I will keep an eye out for any that!

Thanks but Ive got no questions for you. I do however have intel for you. The resistor table for gassers is different. For 1200 RPM they call for a 12K resistor. The pin out is also slightly different. The SEIC 12V input is still the same as being a yellow/green wire on pin 7. The PTO RPM input also stays the same as a green wire on pin 9. The PTO VRef is where the difference is. It becomes a yellow/green wire on pin 18. All this info with wiring diagrams can be found in Ford's SVE Bulletin Q-256.

I have a 2018 f350 platinum and I followed yours and another guys video to a T. I can not get mine to work at all. Used aux switch 1 and ran it over to the white pass through. I then hooked the 7pin wire to it and put the resistor on the green and white/brown wire. I have messed with it for 2 days testing wires and resistors with a multimeter and still can't get anything to work. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Very odd. Ok, I'll look into this a little. In the meantime, a couple basic questions. Have you made sure you have a known good relay for Upfitter 1 as well as made sure the fuse for the Relay hasn't been popped. Last question, I must ask... you have the parking brake engaged and not touching the service brake when trying to activate system?
@joshuasmith4882
@joshuasmith4882 3 жыл бұрын
I'm not a 100% the switch is good but when I test the pass through wire I do have l power. I'm guessing the fuse/relay is good, because when I tested the wire & fuse with my light probe it lights up. I do have the parking brake set and no foot on the service break.

Ok, so I'm REALLY hoping KZbin is being wonky in telling me this comment is from 3 years ago... I just uploaded a video and your comment as well as another popped up from 3 months ago. If indeed you commented 3 years ago, I'm so very sorry for not seeing and responding to it. If not and KZbin is being wonky, then to answer your question; There are technically some similar wires from the upfitter wire box to the connector at the kick panel. However the functions are not the same. God I hope it's not from 3 years ago. Again I deeply apologize if so.

Also too. I am literally recording the 2020 High Idle video now. I just found that the customer access pigtail at the BCM has two YE/GN wires. Pin 18 and pin 7. Can be tricky, I just got caught with that myself and accidentally wired it to pin 18.

@LifeofRaiden
@LifeofRaiden 6 жыл бұрын
Ok, I've scoured the wiring diagrams and pigtail printouts. I'm seeing gauges 18/20/22 used at the customer access connector. I cannot confirm pass-thru wire gauges, no actual printed documentation stating gauges can be found. With that being said, I know there are a couple wires at upfitter relay box and pass thru wires that are 16 and/or 14 gauge (can't tell ya which exact ones, sorry). As for installing, I myself soldered. I found that when using resistors, the metal tabs may/will break or become weak when using a but/crimping type of connector. Hope this helps, any other questions just ask!

Very helpful thank you. I might add a pot for variable RPMs and a 680 ohm resistor to keep it from going too high if it is bumped. Also, thinking of running at least 4 wires from the up fitter relay to the pass through area through the loom, just so that is ready for future use.
@LifeofRaiden
@LifeofRaiden 6 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much! Yes, a potentiometer would be the best component to install for the varying load requirements the vehicle may need. That protection resistor is a fantastic idea as well. Also, when your run the four wires, I highly recommend trying to match wire gauges as some are intended for a higher load. In this video, the customer requested only this. Therefore, I could not take it to a higher level. Thanks for the input and great ideas!

The actual resistance of the installed resistor in the video was just above 20,000 Ohms. I don't have the chart in front of me right now unfortunately.
