About to do this and appreciate the video!!! My issue is my bike doesn’t like to start after about 30min or so of riding and then I go to fill up and then it starts acting all stupid on me and doesn’t like to start back up. This will hopefully make all the annoyance disappear.

After I did a pipe and computer I did this and removed the flapper valve motor and my bike rarely gets above 200 degrees. I'm sure a better flowing exhaust had some part in the temp drop but there is so much more free space on both sides.

You can pull that hose right out of the air box and just seal it off. And why do you need to remove the pressure release valve?

Great video!! I would like to ask at 12:30, how did you remove the original clamp from the hose on the right to put the new clamp on there?
@FireTwo4 жыл бұрын
To remove the two hose clamps the tool is just a click clack pliers cheap on Amazon ext

Thanks, good info. Read about it being so expensive from Aprilia on the forums.

Not much point doing this and leaving in the holder for the cannister, throw it in the bin and use the spacer from the spare bolt of the cannister mount (bottom one) with the long fairing holder (top one) to mimic the same length it was. Then recable tie all the messy wiring up away from the radiator

Thanks for your video. After a few months, do you notice more gas smell in your garage? That's what I'm concerned about...
@techtube38313 жыл бұрын
You're very welcome. I haven't noticed any gas smell since I've done it. Thanks for watching!

Did this on my 18' factory and noticed that after the bike has been sitting there is oil that comes out the hose that originally had the valve. I did the same thing as you and used a hose connector and routed it to the right side by the other hose that dangles to the bottom. Has yours done this, do you know why it's dropping some oil? Could it just be old carbon buildup?

Nevermind, I found that it's just gas after a fillup.

What is the reason for removing the valve on the hose from the tank to the canister?
@techtube38313 жыл бұрын
I heard that the valve can possibly stick and cause back pressure. That's why I removed it. Thanks for watching!

Does this mod compromises fuel mileage??
@techtube38314 жыл бұрын
I've seen nothing mentioned about the effect (if any) on gas mileage. I scoured the AF1 Aprilla forums before doing this, the thing most widely mentioned, other than the main reason for doing it in the first place (relieving pressure buildup in the fuel tank) was the possibility of the bike running somewhat cooler. Thanks for watching!

Oh my god, it us so easy to pull those clamps off took me 2 minumarbles less.
@vxlgsi4 жыл бұрын
Good vid but can you explain why it makes the bike run cooler when removed?
@techtube38314 жыл бұрын
Thank you. From what I've seen, most people are contributing it to increased airflow in and around the area of the canister. I've only had the bike out for a couple of short rides since this vid, but I will report back when I have a chance to truly test the theory. Thanks for watching!

All the EVAP canister does is vent and store the gas tank vapors in activated charcoal which otherwise would cause smog and make the bike fail emissions tests. When the engine is drawing enough vacuum the canister then recirculates the vapors back into the intake but it's nowhere near enough additional fuel to enrich the air fuel mix to the point where the bike would run cooler. It also won't change how the bike runs at all... but it is possible to throw a code on some vehicles. If you don't know what you're doing then you probably shouldn't be doing it lol

@@primedirective00 I deleted mine on my old fz09 because it wouldn't start when sitting out on a hot day. The delete solved my problem. Still have it on my v4 though, have not had that same issue.

Lazy method by the looks, why not remove side cover FFS?

Because it's pretty stupid to do unnecessary shit. FFS.
