I've had a pit viper since 2010 when they first came out and I love this thing! 64.5lbs and somewhere around 325 grains knocks deer on their side from 30 yards. I would love to upgrade to a king cobra but not sure I need it!

Thats a hell of a feat ! I mean rifles wont even do that, my buddy shot a deer with me this year ( i was filming ) he shot it with a .375 H&H broadside at 63 yards with a 300gr Hornaday DGX from his model 70 Safari

my local dealer just picked them up and I'm getting one... just wondering why APA uses 6061 instead of 7075 aluminum for their risers??? also how are they to tune?
@kellyabelmann58928 жыл бұрын
Glad to hear you are joining the family, many companies still utilize 6061. the way the riser is designed gives the rigidity needed. What i have found is if the company doesn't state they are using 7075 they more than likely still use 6061. There is also a cost increase with 7075 and that's a huge reason why you are seeing $1200 bare bow hunting bows.

Kelly Abelmann how is the draw between the king cobra and Mamba 34
@kellyabelmann58928 жыл бұрын
with the true dual cam bow and no need for a press for most procedures its a breeze to tune. Most our customers never touch them after they get everything set until they get new strings put on.

Can the limbs on the King Cobra be fitted with the Limbsaver dampeners like the Mamba 34TF?

Yes

what kind of speed do you think the king cobra would get at 50 lbs
@kellyabelmann58928 жыл бұрын
Industry Standard say 10fps off when you lose 10# draw weight
@southerndrawloutdoors5096 жыл бұрын
if you maintain IBO weight and have an arrow of 250grains it will have no let down in speed

Which rest are you using in this video?

First thing's first. This bow isn't set to ibo standards, so no sense crying about it's IBO performance. Second, f&@# IBO. A bow's IBO rating is usually determined with a hand-picked, super tuned bow, set to a standard in a controlled environment. And usually shot from a machine/manual shooter of sorts. Not the back of a bowshop with a baggy hoodie (and maybe standing too close to the chrony). Most of these bows tend to shine better at #70 and up with heavy arrows (550gr+). Efficient Kinetic energy is what counts. Getting 90-110 ft-lbs of KE is pretty impressive, but it's usually most efficient between 250 and 290 fps, for accuracy, penetration and overall noise. For hunting, that's far more important than IBO ratings. I plan on getting an 80# King Cobra or Mamba 34TF. I have no intention of shooting sub-500gr arrows through it (well...maybe some 3D). It's main purpose will be to launch logs. 525-650gr arrows @255-280fps. If I can achieve this with a smooth draw and quiet shot, I'm a happy hunter. Nice vid. I'd rather see real-world performance than trade-show marketing. 👍👍👍

Grittyboemen pod cast/yt channel talks about what you said quite a bit. Arron shoots a 550+g at about 280 or so

@earlkepaa80608 жыл бұрын
I'd sure like to see that 350fps on your Chrono. that's zipping fast!
@southerndrawloutdoors5096 жыл бұрын
if he was to shoot a 320grain arrow in this video you would see 350 feet a second probably 355
@southerndrawloutdoors5096 жыл бұрын
and that is the IBO weight he should be shooting 5x64 = 320

looks like the bow wants to jump thru the chrono.. Help me understand please.
@kellyabelmann58928 жыл бұрын
The demo bow is setup an inch and a half shorter than what i normally shoot and the way i execute my shot it causes me to push and pull abit more than normal. My bows that are set for me are rocks.

Kelly Abelmann. now I understand. A buddy of mine had one and Greg Brown is a dealer and about 35 miles from me. They love me and I thing I will be going to the KC tf this year!
