I love how this review is actually tailored to the audience that's actually shopping for this vehicle, families with a dog and 2 or 3 children especially all the details about the back seat and 3rd row for storage and such, every other review is your standard drowning of specs and features...good show, also looking at the Lexus RX, Infinity QX60, and Hyundai Santa Fe...now subscribed!

Great review, just one piece of incorrect info, the Q7 you are driving has a “supercharged” v6, not turbocharged. It’s a definite plus since audi has got a lot of criticism for the turbo lag of its newer turbo v6’s.

I appreciate that you actually include a decible level instead of others just saying "it's very quiet". Every time a motoring journalist says that without something to back it up, it drives me bonkers because it's so subjective that it literally amounts next to nothing.

What I'm missing in this review is info about second row. Are three seats independent, can you fit three car seats across? For a family review I was hoping for more. I pretty much seen all the things shown here in regular reviews.

I was going to order a GLS 450 and then I drove the Q7! It is such a great design. Truly modern and up to date. I need a car that is rated for over 7000 lbs. I'm giving up a bit of third row space for a car that is going to e more nimble and fun to drive. I also like the styling a lot more. I was able to order my Q7 without chrome trim. On the GLS I had to go with the $100 k 550 model to do that.

I have just come across your reviews and have to say that they are very well done especially not only from driver's point of view, but a parent's point of view. What would you say is a better massage seat, Benz or Audi? Thanks,
@FamilyWheels8 жыл бұрын
+Andrew Cho Thanks, Andrew! I would say the Audi seats are more intense but the Benz seats feel less robotic.

That was a good review addressing (naturally) the issues surrounding the practicalities of the car. I like the car a lot, the three that are getting mentioned in the comments this is the one I'd go with unless my situation requires the third row to be used a lot then I'd look harder at the Volvo. I agree that it's down to personal preferences with the interface and I prefer Audi's system because once you learn it I feel it's easier to use once on the move and touch screens tend to be difficult and fiddly to use while moving. Big bottles fit fine in the door pockets and cup holders are for just that, cups.

I'm from Europe, and it's good seeing a review from the LARGE OVER THERE car market that still uses km/h and l/100 km. One more detail - the plate on that Q7 is German, and of course, as the the Audi's main office is in Ingolstadt, the number reads just that. Just would be interesting to know, where these babies are manufactured - my A6 comes from the German city of Neckarsulm, where one of the oldest Audi's plants is, but I've heard Q7s are actually produced in some weird little place. WIth that I mean of course "another country than Germany" :)) Do you know where it's made?
@momchil014 жыл бұрын
AFAIK for market of Europe they are produced in Bratislava, Slovakia. As the Q7 is being produced also in India and Russia (according to Wikipedia) I am not sure from where Canada is supplied. For sure the VIN would tell that.

Nice review but would you choose the Q7 or the XC90? I drove the Volvo XC90 T6 in all three trims with 20", 21", and 22" wheels, all on adaptive suspension. It's a beautiful and wonderfully thought-out car with a spacious cabin. However, the brittle ride, excessive road and tire noise, clunky Aisin gearbox, and harsh sounding engine place it second to the Q7 for me. Just my two cents.
@FamilyWheels8 жыл бұрын
+TuvingtonD It's a toss-up for me. I prefer the seats, exterior styling, infotainment system and fuel economy of the Volvo. But the Audi's ride comfort, performance, towing capacity and Quattro system are pretty impressive.

@@FamilyWheels thank you. With two kids and one on the way seems the best choice for combining isofix seats etc. Although im not looking forward to keeping all those delicate smudgeable touch screens spick and span. A bit of overkill from Audi.

@@adamkhan5274 Haha! Yeah, have fun with that. My friend had three seats in the back, two boosters and one rear facing baby seat and it seemed to fit nicely. All the best with number three :)

Nice review, which vehicle do you think is better, the Audi Q7, the Lexus RX or the Porsche Cayenne?
@FamilyWheels7 жыл бұрын
Hi Babur. I haven't had a chance to test the Cayenne so I can't speak to the Porsche option. But the RX offers better value and Lexus' famous reliability while the Q7, I think, is more comfortable, more refined, more interesting to drive and more spacious. Take them both for a test drive and let us know what your impressions of the two are!

own one, and appart from the useless voice control / horrible destination input, it's great. 600 miles over the weekend, didnt feel them, mountain roads gave me plenty of fun. I average 11.5L since i have it (7500km total), on a very even mix of highway, city and mountain roads.

Did you find that the panoramic sunroof let in too much light and heat even when the sunshade was closed on it? I recently sat in one and was surprised to find that it lets in a heck of a lot of light. I'm looking to get one but but i'll be living in a very hot area and don't want the sun beaming down on my head all day long. Thanks
@FamilyWheels8 жыл бұрын
Hi James, the weather wasn't particularly hot during my time with this vehicle so I can't really comment on this. Generally, I find the sunshade cuts back on this problem but if you wind up going for a longer test drive, let us know your final assessment.

KHD What problem is that? That it wasn't hot when you tested it?
@kimob48 жыл бұрын
I ended up test driving one while I was in Korea, and it wasn't on a particularly hot day either but there was enough heat from the sun that WHEN the shade was opened I could feel a little heat from the sun through the glass roof. When the shade was closed the heat feeling went away. But it was on a 75 degree overcast day.

I agree somewhat, I don’t like the side view but it’s growing on me. The interior I have to completely disagree on, I like the XC90’s start button and button placement but the Q7 is far superior in interior design.
