It is the same motor, however for some reason they decided to de-tune it for the Colorado.

I would buy one new if I had the money. There is just so much appeal for me to get a Crew Cab Diesel. But in Canada they above $50k for a regular V6 thanks to dealer markup.

xXBurntBaconXx I know it's absolutely ridiculous. I'd never pay that much, especially for a Chevvy

I have a short wheelbase 5.3 Trailblazer and my buddy had a 5.3 2wd Colorado. Zero reason they couldn't put the new Direct Injected 5.3 L V8 355 HP into this.

why make it heavier for 50 hp?

@francismartinez60497 жыл бұрын
88tcoupe now a days it's all about fuel economy and price that people care about...that's my guess why
@Trendyflute7 жыл бұрын
This was clearly them filming a press event at a remote location. They also get cars at their facility for testing. I think car releases go in cycles and it's the season for these kind of events; they probably film and release other segments at other times due to staffing and resource allocation, production scheduling, stuff like that.
@88tcoupe7 жыл бұрын
Mathew Clark I'm sure it is, but the title to the video is a road test. That usually means instrumented testing. Not that worried about it, but always liked to see their results.

needs way more power and a different engine choice
@Michael06977 жыл бұрын
I'd say the 2.8 I-4 diesel is a wonderful engine choice, but a torquey V8 option would be nice. Wonder why they don't make a small block diesel V8. a 3.2 or 4.0 Diesel V8 would be perfect for this truck. Not heavy enough to really ruin it, but a torque monster. And the second criticism with it is that there's only a 6-speed auto for the diesel. Meh! Chevy is too lazy to tune for the eight or ten speed?
@emerica4207 жыл бұрын
A V8 would have been awesome in this truck! Probably get close to the same gas mileage of the V6 since it doesn't have to work so hard. It's a disappointment in my eyes, doesn't have the power to stand out above it's main rival the Tacoma. Could have been something special like the Raptor.
@hochhaul7 жыл бұрын
Mihaly Lukacs The 2.8 diesel makes more torque than most V8 half-ton trucks did 10 years ago. Add a tune and the 2.8 is capable of making 450 ft-lb of torque @2000 RPM. Not bad for a midsize truck.
@Michael06977 жыл бұрын
Oh yeah, definitely, hoch! My only personal qualm is that they're still on that six-speed. No reason why the diesel doesn't deserve some transmission love.

That's a badass rig, but Jesus Christ is that V6 a noisy engine. Sounds like it's already knocking
@hochhaul7 жыл бұрын
Roy Diedesch Lol then you should listen to a Tacoma sometime. Fuckers sound like sewing machines. Google "Taco tick" or "Tacoma tick". Those noises are normal for a gas direct injection engine. GM went back to a roller chain to increase timing chain life on the latest version of the 3.6 V6. The reason Ford Duratech and Ecoboost V6's have so many problems with timing chains wearing out early is due to the cheaper but quieter inverted tooth timing chain they use.

No one offroads like this - driving around like a maniac. You'd be crashing into other vehicles and running over razers and atv's all day long. Raptors and pickups like this are for Monster bro's and mall crawlers that drive like assholes on roads. Only real offroads are Wranglers and 4Runners
