Love that the drivers give the year and model of car to the announcer. I really think that helps get the crowd more involved as they can recognize the type of cars they see on the road and cheer for different ones in the arena.

There are different approaches to demo derby, brits might prefer old horse stadiums but with higher speed impacts, cars need more rebuilding and that means more work and costs. Smaller speed "bumber car" style derby means participants don´t need a roll cage around the driver and keeping costs down means it´s acessible for more people. In the 90´s some drivers basically built another set of subframe plus a rollcage, kind of a redesign of the chassis and brought radiator inside the car, glued tires to rims, rebuilt axle mounts, engine mounts and so on. This meant unfair advantage against other people having small budget and one weekend for preparing the car.
