2017 GM Truck 6.6 Duramax DEF Problems P029B

This customer recently purchased this truck and recently its had DEF system issues. Message on the dash to Service DEF System and warning lights on. Wow Finally a real Mechanic, and not just a parts replacer, Nice Job, my 2017 Chevy is in the shop right now, running great just threw the check engine light and they said it needs a def pump, still under warranty so I didn't question it much, but I would think a def light would have came on

I'm going to see if I can fix it but I doubt it since the pump assembly goes into the tank from the bottom and the electrical plug will be submerged.

I hope GM updated that heater since that seems to be a common problem.

Quick question when you install this pump do you need to reset the service emission for it to go away mine shows limited to 55pmh due to this pump needing ti be swaped took mine to the dealer and told me it’s the reductant tank temp sensor which is built in with this pump. It sure does only come on when it’s cold outside but I’m about to replace it my self just wondering do I need the software to restest or get rid of the limited miles per hour ? Mine set the code p2ada

You can try clearing the codes and that should be enough but honestly not 100% sure. If you don't have a scanner try disconnecting the batteries.

This truck needs a new heater assembly. Customer has a new part but has not installed it yet as the code has temporarily gone away likely because it's warm now. What code is setting on yours?

Needed a def pump assembly as the heater is part of it. After manipulation of the connector the fault temporarily went away but the temperature also warmed up. The customer bought the pump but has not installed it yet. I'm sure come winter it will be back...
