Yet another outstanding video from Jomez with Jeremy, Paul and this time adding James Conrad as well, who were all excellent. The coverage, camera work, titles and editing - all fantastic from Jomez Productions, as per usual. Thanks for a truly great final round video from Idlewild.

This course is where I go when I get to thinking that I am getting good at disc golf...brings ya back to Earth REAL QUICKLY.
@surge35187 жыл бұрын
I loved watching this course played. You can get punished by not hitting your line or getting a bad kick, but can make up for it by executing a second shot. My favorite part about playing disc golf is the ability to get creative when in trouble. To me hitting your line on a flick roller out of the woods or some other crazy shot you don't typically practice and knocking down the putt is more satisfying than a birdie most the time.
@guitarino17 жыл бұрын
I agree CB. Fred and I thought of playing "smart" when we designed this course. Byron Nelson used to say scrambling and saving par was often more satisfying than birdying.

Burlington, KY, not Lexington. This is in the Cincinnati Metro Area in case you're ever in the area and want to play this course. I followed Uli, Jerm, and James on Thursday's round, and those dudes were having fun despite getting a little eaten up by Idlewild. I'd love to see some more big events at this course.

Was at idlewild Saturday. What an amazing showing from these guys, great job as always jomez! Even though I was there live, there's still something about a jomez production that gives it that extra showing. Watching you guys run all over the place to get this coverage standing in the heat carrying cameras. Keep it up guys! Your work is much appreciated.

What a game.. seeing these pros hit OB so often is a testament to the difficulty of Idlewild. Makes for some entertaining footage for sure. Thanks Jomez for the great coverage and thank you Big Jerm for making me laugh so much. You have some great moments commentating throughout. And I think Paul U. makes a great sidekick. It's fun to hear both of your thoughts.

This is one of my home courses and my 2nd favorite in the area. This course has shaped many disc golfers games and is designed by a hall of famer. You play here and then go play anywhere else in the country and the fairways look super huge. I had the privelage of live scoring a few of the top cards this weekend and it was a huge pleasure watch the top players in the world play it. Big Jerm, Erik Oakley, Dustin Keegan, Peter McBride, Drew Gibson, Zach Melton, Greg Barsby, Paul McBeth, Dutch Napier were all super good guys and very accessbile. I really hope you guys all make it back here next year. The local crew was super stoked to have you here. Big thanks again to Jomez for capturing the beauty that is Idlewild. Expertly filmed guys. I know it's a tough track to maneuver.

I wanted to post this on the round 2 video, but I actually really liked Idlewild, this may have been my favorite course to watch all year. A lot of people talk about how disc golf scores are too low compared to ball golf, and I think that if the sport decides to go in that direction this course is a blueprint for that. Putting will always be easier in disc golf, so instead of trying to make putting harder like DD is with the marksmen we should make driving harder with course design. Force players to hit tight gaps or create risk-reward holes like 16 where players can use the distance they have or risk going OB.
@andyschannel887 жыл бұрын
Not all courses have par set correctly. Par should be average based. A lot of these courses just get created and people put crazy par numbers on them without putting much thought into it. Disc golf has never been organized enough to really standardize the par requirements but I think its heading in that direction and that's great.
@coreyjansen90337 жыл бұрын
Michael Giurini Sad thing is, as a local we always play this course as all par 3's except 16 as a par 4. We all continuously beat ourselves up due to the scores we obtain. After finally seeing the pros tackle the course it's a huge ego boost. Knowing I've got 2's on 12 and usually always 3 that hole and not a single pro was capable of doing it all weekend makes a rec player feel amazing.
@JessCat6067 жыл бұрын
Agreed, Michael. Accuracy is just as big a part of the game as driving distance; it's nice to see tournaments that feature both. Tourneys like the Utah Open were all about big distance and dropping bombs on the basket from 400 feet away; the Idlewild Open was all about nailing the lines with control and being deadly accurate. Ya gotta have both to be a well rounded golfer!
@JessCat6067 жыл бұрын
Andrew, the TDs changed the pars a bit on this (new) layout; based on the results, I'd expect one or two holes to have their pars changed next year. I know they were taking the pros distance off the tee into account, and wanted to make even a 1000-rated round...and they got it almost perfect, I think; according to PDGA.com, in round three a par 66 was 1003-rated.
@jaredh46387 жыл бұрын
That's because hole 12 in this tournament is the typical hole 10. It's a throw-in 2 for any player, and a 3 is a fantastic score for that hole.

I was able to play this course on my honeymoon and it is incredible! Watching this video brought back the memories + the feels. Awesome work by Jomez - Keeps getting better and better!
@slg62187 жыл бұрын
Play here a few times a year and have seen some really good players get humbled by Idlewild. That said, I saw some shots this weekend that I thought were impossible. These pro players can pull off some amazing feats. Idlewild is a course where it's more important to know where not to throw it. If the pros play it again I think you will see much lower scores. They just aren't used to every hole having such a high risk/reward factor.
@DonnieRockett7 жыл бұрын
I agree. I watch damn near every tourney vid on the net, and because of the level of difficulty, no lead was really safe going into round 3. To win, you really had to keep your head in the game.
