2017 john deere 2032R & 2038R command cut height changes

I wanted to see how much the mower height moved at various height settings. The height numbers dont represent the blade height to floor, but rather just how much the deck moves.
Height #6 = 5"
Height #5 = 4 3/8" = a 5/8" drop
Height #4 = 3 3/8" = a 1" drop
Height #3.5 = 3" = a 3/8" drop
Height #3 = 2 1/2" = a 1/2" drop
Height #2 1/2 = 2" = a 1/2" drop
Height #2 = 1 1/2" = a 1/2" drop

the reason its off around a 1/2 is the blades set up under the desk around 1/2 inch so you are actually the correct height as stated on he gauge. thanks Rick Miller, John Deere master mechanic

+WPA Outdoors I got to thinking about the downside I mentioned on the 2032R... mowing around trees. You could put some mulch or your favorite landscaping around the tree, to increase the circumference, and then just now around it! Maybe theres a dealer near you, that you could test drive both, be up front and say youre in the thinking phase

I was thinking the same thing regarding trees. Fortunately, the house is currently under construction and the lot was a pasture, no trees at all. I can landscape it so that it is easy to cut grass with a tractor, no matter which one I get. I did stop by a dealer this morning to look at the 2032r (I have already tried a 1025r as my father-in-law has one). I will probably request to try it once I get closer to buying one. It is a big jump in price so this will be a though decision.

I finally ordered my tractor! Should get it in a week or so. I went with 2038r.

Did we learn that blade height is one half inch higher than the bottom of the deck height? In another words a 2.5 command cut height would bring the bottom of the deck to 2". If yes, why were the 4, 5, and 6 command cut heights not adhering to the command cut height - .5" for the measurement from the ground to the bottom of the mower deck?

+Erik Asquith Very good questions. Im thinking these cut heights can be adjusted in the computer. As of late, I dont have the tech manual to adjust. I dont know if they were aiming for numbers relative to inches, or "common cut heights"

Your cutting hight goes from your blades. Not the bottom of your deck . So your numbers are correct. If you measure from your cutting edge to the bottom of the deck should be a half inch different

Anyone know why the raise and lower function was working perfectly one day and the next day it wont come up or go down with the joy stick. Thanks in advance.
