You could tell how irritating it was for Simon to have to co-commentate with Avery. It's just so over the top with the over-dramatic tone and tempo. The few times he actually dropped that and talked to Simon normally, it was such a nice change. Specifically, when he mentioned the hillside that you have to stop the discs, so everyone can aggressively attack the basket, he just sounded like a normal guy giving his inside perspective on the course and hole, which is exactly what most of us want. Relax, Avery... relax.

Avery: "I'm gonna say the turning point was hole 2" uhh not a chance. Hole 10 when rick canned a 55 footer to keep 1 stroke ahead of Paul who was like 20 feet away was definitely the turning point. He then turned that confidence into another huge putt on the next hole.
@asbjrnbuevranghauberg96737 жыл бұрын
Ethan Chlebowski I totally agree. Paul had the lone birdie on hole 9 which could have shifted the momentum a bit but Ricky's putt on 10 just sparked him into winning mode. Another AJ-fail IMHO :-)

Exactly.. Its embarrassing. Innova really should listen to the people who actually watch their videos and put the can on Avery as a commentator. Avery is a super nice guy, an amazing ambassador to the game, and a perfect instructor for new golfers. But please stop doing commentary. It just isn't your strong suit.
@18bigegan7 жыл бұрын
nataskaos I don't think too many could make commentary great in these videos just cause of how DGWT does them. The round is recorded and then they just have Avery, and a guest, sit down and add commentary to it. Like you said Avery is an awesome instructor, and he'd probably be a lot better at commentary if they would do actual live coverage. As it is now, they know every shot and outcome of each round when they do commentary. So there's no element of surprise or the unknown to ad excitement and enthusiasm from the commentators. All they can do is narrate the entire round
@DrewliusCeaser7 жыл бұрын
What are you talking about? Ever watch any video with Nate sexton? Or any video by CCDG? There are tons of great commentators that it comes natural for them and have a natural grace behind the mic, Avery just isn't one of them. There's no shame in that.

I can barely watch this because of AJ. Sorry man, but your commentary is so much fluff. I enjoy listening to the top players and hearing their strategy and approach towards the holes. me yeah but I'd say disc golf world tour has it somewhere that he's got to do it. Since DGWT started, they've pretty much had Avery as their star pro. Avery needs to stop commentating like a radio announcer. I can see whats happening, you don't need to explain every shot.
@18bigegan7 жыл бұрын
Kody Wedell Well the reason Avery probably sounds like that and pretty much just has to narrate what happens is because of how DGWT does their coverage. The tournament round is filmed and after the round, they just have Avery, and a guest, sit down and add commentary to it. So they already know what the players were thinking,what shots they took, and the outcome. Avery probably wouldn't sound like this if it were actually live, because as it is now narrating the round is pretty much all they can do
@asbjrnbuevranghauberg96737 жыл бұрын
Kody Wedell That doesn't make sense at all: If the commentators know what's gonna happen and they believe that the viewers already know the outcome of the round, then they should most definitely quit the play-by-play-action-excitement style of commentary and just focus on the "why" and emphasize analysis. This happens often when it's two players (I know that AJ is a player too - he just doesn't sound like one) commenting a round (IMHO) :-)
@smujismuj7 жыл бұрын

Insert negative comment about Avery's total nonsense here. Sorry, I like to keep it positive but I want them to stop using this guy for commentary. And the only way that will happen is if enough people complain. "THREE IN A ROW, THE TRIFECTA, THE TURKEY, THE HAT TRICK, TRIPLETS, THE HOLY TRINITY, THE THREE AMIGOS, UP AND INTO THE CHAINS HE KNOCKS IT DOWN TO STAY IN THE LEAD" There is a difference between play-by-play and commentary. Avery is doing play-by-play (and doing it badly), and I think the fans are much more interested in commentary. The "Raptor Legs" line almost places him beyond reproach. That shit was awesome, I gotta hand it to him. But quit anyway, Avery.
