@@ryanwentrouge6907 2015. And I'm happy with it. It was cheaper, I find the ports great, I used the HDMI output so many times. And yeah it's not quite as fast, but neither can really game well, and it does stuff alright. It does get very hot.

There's no comparison. You should just go straight for the 2015 15". It's got a quad-core CPU, a real dedicated GPU, a real keyboard with real function keys, a real hinge with built-in real backlight cable that never fails and real ports. Plus, you can even upgrade the SSD.

Edmundo studios I totally agree. I returned mine for the MacBook Pro with touchbar. It was so annoying having to glance at the keyboard all the time to see what it was doing. I ended up buying the 256gb Pro w/o touchbar and enjoy using so much more. The only thing I wish I could’ve kept was Touch ID. But I can live without it.

Apple Bits I need a laptop for a levels and university pretty soon, and I'm willing to spend more on a MacBook than a windows laptop; they just last longer. I won't be doing that heavy work on it, so I'm not sure if I really need a quad core processor. That being said, I need the laptop to last about 6 years. Will the 13inch MacBook Pro cut it?

I honestly believe both laptops are great. Grant the 15inch is older but it's pretty good and will last a very long. The 13inch is great cause of thunderbolt 3, you can basically turn into a strong desktop

Which one should I get? I prefer the bigger one because I have bigger hands, but I plan to keep it for atleast 4 years so I'm wondering how will it's performance keep up. Will it bug like a win laptop? Or should I just wait for newer models to come out this year and purchase the 2017 15 inch model instead when the price drops (if it drops at all)? I have the 13 inch MacBook Pro late 2013. I have had it for about 5 years now, and it still works great. I would say the speed is the same as when I bought it. The only letdown for me is the RAM. I got the 4 GB model (which Apple doesn't sell anymore), and that is not enough at all. I am thinking about getting the 15 inch 2015 model with 16 GB RAM and 256 GB SSD storage for my engineering studies next year. For programming I have heard performance isn't as important, so I think you would be happy with either the 2017 or 2015 models. But I would advise you to get enough RAM and SSD storage

Who the fuck does actual heavy work on a laptop display? I've watched a couple of reviews now and it is pretty staggering that all these reviewers or "pro users" actually consider the 13 inch good for traveling and the 15 inch as a standalone workstation. If it's really a heavy work machine, then you don't even use the built in monitor to do heavy work, you just hook it up to an external 27 inch or bigger monitor with a proper keyboard and a mouse. If you're doing your edits on a 15 inch laptop, it's not actually demanding editing.

The problem with the 2017 was reliability from butterfly keyboard to flexgate.. Meanwhile the 2015 is solid... with tons of ports.

The lightup logo should prob. be the last thing on your list. "Does it come in teal?".... Just kidding :). Macbook pro's are typically relevant for about 6 years. And honestly, even beyond that if you aren't doing video editing or intensive processor/graphics card work. I'm on my 2011 mbp now. Now that I am doing video and graphics editing again, I need a new mac. It took basically until now for this computer to not be enough for me. And other than graphics card stuff, it is an awesome computer.

1 month ago, my friend and I were working together in an airport. He was using his MBP 2017 13" and I my 2015 13" model. We both were using black plastic covers on our MBPs, don't need to mention mine keep the glowing logo trough the cover. It was funny when a girl came close and ask to me: G: "hi, excuse can I look your Mac?" Me: Sure. G: "wow pretty cool, and looks sexy. I want to buy one for me" Friend: "yes, Macs are the best computers... ". G: "oh really? Is good to know, especially coming from a Windows user". Me: couldn't stop laughing for around 3 minutes XD Conclusion: My laptop is perfectly useful for Photoshop, renders, Final Cut, Starcraft and especially attracting curious girls, that's another reason for keep it for some other years, hope apple will keep in mind this story and bring back again more ports and that sexy logo B-) .

Jason Park Depends what you mean by too small. If you can work with small onscreen elements, since it’s a MacBook Pro, you can scale the display to have the space of a 1440p display.

You can get this accessory that is like $10 and you plug it unto you MacBook and onto the USB c cable and then you have MagSafe, and I if you want a more portable and light laptop then the MacBook Pro 13 inch then I 100% wouldn't recommend an iPad Pro I would recommend the 12 inch MacBook 2017
