Check and see if yours has a rear brake release mode at the console. It will save you a lot of time and hassle on the rear brakes.

They sell a front brake kit that has all the shims and clips for about $13. Has a packet of grease too.

How's she goin'? Being able to do your own brakes can be a big savings!!! It can be a big expense to get all the tools to make the job smoother too!!! But if you like to do this job, why not get the tooling and do it!!! Thanks for posting and take care!!

Very true! I haven't had great luck with others working on my stuff so I try to do it myself as much as possible. If it's not right in the end at least I know who did it.

Yep I feel like I’ve spent nearly 500$ on tools for this brake job, but I’m pretty sure most places are charging near 400$ per axle. Haven’t priced it but the place I used to go to wanted 140$ to change cabin air filter. I spent 20$ and learned to do it myself. And now I have a nice collection of tools and knowledge . Worth it!

If those are stock OEM rotors is that screw hole in the hub of the rotor there to allow a screw to be put in there to push the rotor off of the hub in case rotor is rusted/seized to the hub?

The old rotors I took off are OEM. Replacements were not.

You should be able to do it even easier now that the service park brake mode has been discovered. It fully releases the parking brake motor on the rears.

If you don't have elec brake the rear you will need a compression tool like shown in the video.

If you mean the thin plate on the pad, the new pads come with new ones.

Mazda 3's are made in two different locations. Japan and Mexico. The brakes are different. Just found this out.
