I don't understand why people who hate certain cars watch every video about that car, then waste time trashing it in the comments. I dislike more new cars than I like (mainly for appearance and over saturation in the market)...but I don't have time to watch 30 videos and comment on them. I bought the 2017 Maxima, it's perfect for what it's intended for...transportation . If racing is always # 1 on your list for buying a new car, you'll never actually get the super car you want.

Why do people trash cars? My guess is some have had bad experience with the maker and do it to get back at the company. For example ,my local Nissan dealer wanted $2400.00.. to do a "major tune-up" which would include replacing the failed coil packs that prompted a SES light.Other trips in for repairs find that Nissan would never fix anything under the warranty.But just because they were horrible to me as a customer,I would never go on line just to rip them.

I just drove one of these for a short work trip - what a blast it was! Kinda wish I didn’t have my boss with me... I just knew it was 300hp without looking it up, and it handled way better than my old and gone gen1 Mazda 6 V6. There probably is no reason to ever mod the stock suspension, aside from new shocks at 75k miles. This may even be better than the new Toyota Camry. One more thing - I didn’t even realize it had a CVT transmission.
@bluestarkad178 жыл бұрын
I have to question whether most of you who are complaining about the CVT have actually ever driven one...nissan's CVT paired with the v6 is not bad at all...nissan tuned the CVT pretty dam good especially the artificial shift points..true enough I would probably prefer the traditional transmission but times are changing...honda and toyota have started implementing CVT transmissions as well and you better believe that the rest will follow suit

I love the cvt in my accord sport. The car accelerates from a light and gets up to speed extremely smooth and quiet. It almost feels like an electric car would. Also, in manual mode it feels just like a traditional automatic transmission would banging through gears. If I wanted to feel shift points again I'd just buy another manual car.

The major discomfort faced in 2016-2017 model compared to 2015 is the interior cabin space. if you are riding for a long time you may feel tired and pain in legs as you cannot stretch you legs. The console is more projected outside which has reduced the space and also the gear shifting console is too fat so which makes us to adjust a lot without comfort. Rear seats can only hold maximum 2 people. Nissan message is clear that this car is marketed as a sports car but they should also consider the comfort level which they give in 2015 maxima models. Power wise this is the best car to buy with better service and cost.

One weird thing I've noticed about Nissan's post-2012 lineup is they're all the same size. If you see a Sentra, Altima, and Maxima parked side by side in a dealership, they all look very similar. I suppose the difference is bigger if it's just the Sentra and Maxima. The same is true of the Murano, Rogue and Pathfinder, and the roof heights of all 6 are pretty similar. The NV200 and Quest look very similar in size side by side too, even though the NV200 is a Euro-style cityvan while the Quest is a full size minivan, smaller than most but still enormous. I omit the Versa because it's little more than a stripped Sentra. The only big size outliers in their lineup are the Titan/Armada, Frontier, sports cars, and Juke. The entire lineup has been designed to look as close in size as possible, even though they really are very different.
@elhombremo74046 жыл бұрын
2:15 - You're probably thinking "how can a front drive, full size sedan with CVT transmission be any fun to drive?" 2:27 - Sound of a dual clutch automatic transmission shifting gears... CVTs don't shift gears... Also you don't have to say, CTV transmission. The "T" in CVT stands for "transmission." So unless you have developed a system to transmitting your transmission elsewhere, it is just called a CVT.

@captinbeyond6 жыл бұрын
I can't speak from an owner of CVT,just the things I've heard and read about on line. The biggest complaints with the Nissan's Cvt is the cost to repair because it's a contained system,,you can't just work on them--it's total replacement which run around 5k grand. And many say it goes out just past the warranty. Look on Craigslist at all the Altimas,Maximas pretty much dirt cheap and only 5 or 6 years old---folks can't give them away cause everybody knows they got a transmission bill waiting on them if they buy it. Just my opinion.

From personal experience and research. Stay away from Nissan Maxima because of the CVT transmission. The chances of having to replace it are too good to risk. That's a $4000 bill that seems to fail at around 80K miles. warranty is 60K miles. Don't say I didn't warn you.

My experience with Nissan and with the Maxima specifically. Warranty on drive train is 70,000 miles I think. My Maxima transmission went out a last year (2016) at around 85,000 miles. Nissan would do nothing about it. $4000 plus to replace. They don't repair, they replace. That was obviously a problem with the CVT trans and Nissan will do nothing about it, even if they are aware there is an issue. Look up Nissan CVT transmission problems. We were aware of it, but were told the 2011 is an improved model LOL Don't fall for it. Stay away from NIssan's CVT trans.

I own this car and love the instant torque (at any speed) of the CVT. Up to about 40mph, this car is practically untouchable (by most cars). Most negative CVT comments are from people that never drove one paired to a higher-horsepower motor (like the setup in the Maxima). I would actually eliminate the fake shift points since it actually slows the car down.

Would you get a 2017 Nissan Maxims or 2017 Chevy Impala? The two cars I'm looking at getting.
@pacadet8 жыл бұрын
That's a tough one. I've had extended drive time in both and while the styling is so much better on the Maxima, I have a hard time getting over the CVT. I prefer how the Impala drives with the traditional automatic. Unfortunately, the Impala doesn't match the Maxima in the excitement department. The Nissan really does try to feel like a sports car when you're behind the wheel. The Impala, while putting down some respectable power, feels like it would fit in perfectly as the official car of Wednesday Bingo nights. The interior is ho-hum and there's nothing particular exciting about how it looks. It depends on what's important to you, I guess. They're both around the same price, both put down around the same power, but if sportiness and more radical styling is your thing AND you can live with the CVT, the Maxima is a no brainer.
@hoglaw098 жыл бұрын
there are plenty of online reviews on both cars, and you can easily test drive both of them (you can try both by renting either at rental companies like Alamo or Hertz, who carry both lines in their Premium group levels). I personally have a Maxima Platinum, and rented an Impala Premier, so I can offer insight into both competing models and tiers. I really like the Impala Premier from an interior perspective. While the interior for both cars are very similarly appointed, the Impala has more built in compartments for random things, and more USB ports in different locations. My premier didn't come with a sunroof though, and I'm not sure if it's an option. The maxima Platinum comes with a beautiful dual panel that covers the length of the car. And I preferred the maxima's interior leather stitching, which is diamond pattern, and is very supple. I think the maxima has better acceleration than the impala, in spite of it's CVT transmission. I have to admit, I was initially hesitant about a CVT, especially coming off of a 2009 Altima that had a CVT. But this is much more refined, and they did a great job programming in shift points, to make it feel like a more traditional transmission. I would still prefer the 8/9 speed trans Nissan puts in their Infiniti's, but I definitely prefer the Maxima's CVT to the Impala's 6 speed auto. Exterior, I personally like the look of the maxima, although the look is highly subjective. Some people will never like it, some folks like it immediately, and for others, it's an acquired taste (I fall in this category, as it took a little while for me warm to the looks). The impala doesn't look as aggressive (in my option) but still looks like a muscular car. If you are fixed on an impala vs maxima, i'd recommend the maxmia. But i'd also urge you to look at a Chrysler 300, which I think is probably a closer comparison to the maxima from a features and driveablity standpoint. I've rented a few 300 S sedans, and consider them to a great alternative to the Maxima.

I actually own the SL Maxima. And I know for a fact that the VQ35 is more than just ancient metals fused together. The V6 is grunty and very refined. It even sounds good in stock. Ofcourse getting used to the CVT took me time, but after smoking an F-Pace recently, I felt good about myself.

You do realize that a FWD civic type r is quicker than any bmw around the ring right? Also there is nothing wrong with a NA v6. It is will be smoother and more reliable than a turbo 4. Also will use fuel when you drive it hard.

This car isn't for the older folk! It's not easy getting in and out of. It sits really low, which is fine if you don't mind. But I minded. LOL. I felt like I was struggling to look over the dash and I am 6'1" tall. You sit really low. Excellent review!

That's how Nissans really are. The leather is actually soft though. Cheap, but soft.

Hey everyone. I’m currently in high school and looking for a car. I really like this car although I will never get as my first car. If y’all are willing to give me “good first car for high school” ideas it will be much appreciated.

I drive a Nissan only because they had the best electric car at the time, but I hate how all of Nissan's cars look. This one, however... wow. The previous model was weird and really outdated, but this new one is really something!
