A big car for the Northeast is Subaru. This Rogue is under powered. Roman thanks for your honest review.
When I bought it at the dealer I found out that the engine was modded version of the NV200's, with a better exhaust and air intake. Only giving it 10 more hp, and they said non-turbo is more reliable. ALSO, in response to what she said, the AWD turns on every time I push on the gas at a dead stop, which could've saved MPG. It's not a sensor like she's stating.

just trade in my 2016 murano for 2018 Rogue sport.... so far is the only issue is trunk size and interior space, something you expect moving from mid sized SUV to a compact CUV... but overall it is a great nice little car :)

Nissan has some MAJOR overhauling to do of there CVT's and engine power choices. I was set on a Rogue until i drove a Ford Escape Titanium with the 2.0 engine. That engine TOTALLY sealed the deal for me and coming from a 2010 Mazda 5 Grand Touring with only 153hp. I just knew 170hp in the Rogue just wasn't going to cut it for me on freeway merging and passing slower drivers. I have absolutely NO worries with that on the Escape and too me it's a FAR better looking SUV and so far just as reliable. Ford did an awesome job on this little beauty. I've got it in white gold with beige interior and get compliments on it all the time. Highly overlooked suv in my honest opinion.

MUCH rather get a Niro. For the same price you get a longer warranty, nicer interior, power-folding mirrors, cooled seats, much better mpg thanks to hybrid drivetrain. And despite having a hybrid drivetrain you still get a DCT with actual gears over a terrible CVT so it'll feel much better to drive. The Rogue Sport has nice styling but that's about it
@InfamousWolf897 жыл бұрын
But the Niro doesn't have AWD like the Rogue Sport, so it will be an issue for people who live in snowy climates

JDMSteven I test drove both (UK). The tuscan was ok but lacked the things that the Qashqai has. Top trim you get more with the Nissan. The Mpg is far better too. The build quality and driving feels better in the Nissan in terms of noise level and smoothness. Warranty goes to hyundai though. The hyundai also looks better. Kia shortage to me looks ugly. Warranty is also good being a sister company to hyundai. The people who will buy a cross over usually look at Mpg in the UK due to high fuel costs. They also tend to be older than 30 and most have children. That's where the smooth drive tends to be something to go for. Personally I'd get a mazda cx 5 or vw Tiguan.

Thanks for the great review. Very accurate. I own this same vehicle, black with black interior but 2018.5 model. Nice vehicle but sorely underpowered. Nimble through a major city and easy to fit in parking spaces of all sorts. I put dealership installed Continental Extreme Contact DWS Ultra High Performance tires on and it improved the handling much better than the stock Bridgestone Ecopias, especially in the rain. Should have 175 HP and 2017, 2018 SL Premium package should have automatic dimming rear view mirror, electric passenger seat, Bose stereo, driver seat memory. These features are now added to the 2020 model. This is no cheap vehicle, fully loaded with some dealer added items like mud guards, rear bumper protector and door & hood film guards the vehicle is around $35K. I did have a Hyundai Tucson rental for 2 weeks and I liked the Rogue-sport much better overall. I now think I should have gotten a fully loaded CRV or larger Rogue for the money.

I really don't understand why manufacturers build Subcompact Crossovers but put crappy engines in them with terrible HP. What's the point of having a utility vehicle if the power is lackluster? You put people in these vehicles and the car will struggle. On top of that if you have things in the back will probably make it worse. These vehicles should have at least 160HP which would be decent.

Well I finally upgraded to one of these after having the Juke Awd. I got the SV Awd sport over 3 weeks ago. I originally could not stand it and would have gone rogue hybrid but there was none on the lot at the time. I test drove this and and it surprised me. Do I miss the turbo 6 from the Juke yes. Do I miss its small cargo capacity No. yes it’s slower than I wish and yes I agree about the cvt transmission. This has a 14.5 gal tank to the juke’s 10 gal tank. 400 vs 300 miles on a tank plus more cargo room, comfy seats, car play and 3 months of satellite radio and bit more roomy makes this a better road tripper than either the Juke or the 2015 Versa I had when I drove to Lake Havasu. Do I wish I stayed with the Juke? Yes every now and then but this sport came with tinted windows. And it’s nice to have my text alerts up on the stereo rather than pulling over to see the flood warning or traffic alerts. Now that said, would I want another rogue sport with a 6 or a turbo...yes if Nissan put that out then a car dealer would salivate at seeing me saunter on it. But given I have a 5 year warranty and 2 years of oil changes and tire rotation free, we shall see. I may have to take up their free car pick up and drop off to avoid hanging around waiting and looking at what is out there.

I bought this used on Halloween (color appropriate. Lol) Yes, it’s underpowered, and I would love the manual transmission, but I’m looking forward to less stressful winter driving and the extra room for hauling things (traded in a 2008 Sentra manual). If I had wanted engine power, I wouldn’t have gotten a SUV. I’m basically A to B driving right now, so this car is working out perfectly.

She's not too familiar apparently with Nissans AWD systems. Unless this model doesn't have Nissans intuitive AWD system, it's not your basic front wheel biased setup. From a standstill, it starts at a 50/50 split until up to speed where it moves power to the front wheels. It also sends power to the rear in a 70/30 split in hard turns.

I'm in Canada, test drove the 6 speed manual 3 days ago and the very next day bought it. If this wasn't available with a clutch I would NOT have purchased this car (or any other that lacks a real transmission for that matter). Sure, the 2.0 engine is no power house but it is competent enough and since fuel economy is important to us, this is a good compromise. Shame for you Americans that you're stuck with the auto only. Perhaps Nissan ought to pay attention? Not every one in North America is (as they call it) "fat and lazy". Some of us actually do prefer sticks. Oh and if you're listening Nissan: why did you have to put an electronic parking brake in it? That is just plain lame. Not everyone buying the manual is an old granny, you know. Despite the awful parking brake, best Can$20,000 ever spent.

What a shame they neutered such a beautiful car. I see the segment trending away from buying it as a result of their confusing name and lame engine. Remember when VW called the Golf a Rabbit? Disaster. Now it's gonna happen to Nissan because of some stupid belief that we can't pronounce it's real name or handle a turbo or manual. Poppycock.
@OverlandTT7 жыл бұрын
So a smaller engine on a smaller car get less mpg? I'm not sure what the standard version (quasqui) gets in the UK (same as this) but it begs the question why not put the 2.5 in this smaller car because it's not working as hard will probably get better mpg than the 2.0.
@UnseenSpirit7 жыл бұрын
iVlog the 1.5 diesel gets 74 Mpg combined according to Nissan... But it's got 110 or so bhp from memory.
@OverlandTT7 жыл бұрын
UnseenSpirit Well we know that will not be the truth, like the Mitsubishi PHEV outlander claims 140mpg. But if you never plug it in a drive normally (not so slow it annoys everybody) it struggles to break 30mpg. Cars are made to made a non real life emissions test now which gives unrealistic mpg numbers. My Porsche Cayenne get 17.5mpg on 80/20 city highway miles, highway is 23-27 real world. Funny, years ago Jeep gave me a tiny Ford Fiesta of a similar year to the 4.5 V8 Cayenne and that only returned 22mpg with its little 1 litre engine, which was worse than my grand Cherokee at the time. Officially the baby fiesta was a almost 50 mpg car. So I take most of these figures as a pinch of salt, though the Diesel will obviously be better than the gas/petrol. I was shocked though that the lighter (300 pounds) and down from 2.5 to 2 litre gets worse figures. Makes the smaller motor pretty pointless in my view.
@UnseenSpirit7 жыл бұрын
iVlog Yeah it's definitely not the truth. People have got 50 to 60 Mpg on it though which is still quite impressive, but not the 74 claimed.

This is supposed to be better than a Juke? Not with that engine it's not. I lease a Juke. You push the accelerator and it takes off. I was thinking of getting this when my Juke lease ends this year, not with that lame engine I won't. I wanted something similar to the Juke for varieties sake but all I needed to see was you push the accelerator and the car cough (or laugh) at you as you did so to decide not to. If they put a better engine in this, this car would have been great. I don't need a smaller Rogue with an engine worse than a Juke. Makes no sense. What is wrong with Nissan? When you go up a model it should have better if not similar features than the one below it. May have to see how the Mazda CX 3 is and move on from Nissan if this is what they are offering now as alternatives to vehicles in the crossover class. Such a shame. Was hoping for better here.

Bullshit that Americans wouldn't get a manual, especially if they put a the 1.6 turbo engine with a manual and 37 more horsepower like they do in the rest of the world. And that Americans can't pronounce the name. Maybe they can't spell it, but no one could spell Hyundai either in the beginning and they did ok. They have done this dumbing down before to terrible results (like turning the Micra into the Versa Note, presumably because they couldn't pronounce Micra either). The micra manual is fun but they only offer the versa Note here with a cvt. Boo. As a compromise i would buy the rouge sport if it came with the 1.6T and a cvt. But if the do that will prolly change the name to the kashkai, or cashcow, or Qashqai, but we all know that's not gonna happen.

sugonmaballs What does that have to do with my statement? But to respond to your statement, negotiating is easy. The reality is, if the negotiation starts from a higher price point to begin with, then you end up at a higher price point in the end. that's common sense.
@senorgato707 жыл бұрын
Jonathan Dittmar But a loaded HR-V, is just under $27k USD. That's almost a $5k difference.
@sugonmaballs7 жыл бұрын
It relates to your statement in that the sticker price given shouldn't be taken at face value as you seemed to have done. "The reality is, if the negotiation starts from a higher price point to begin with, then you end up at a higher price point in the end." Not true; different models/dealers have different markups on their vehicles. It's common to get 7-9k off of a 45k stickered F150, but nowhere near that discount on say an equally priced Lexus vehicle. So your common sense doesn't apply here. Therefore, I'm willing to bet you can negotiate more (percentage wise) off of one of these Nissans than you could off of a competing Honda or Toyota. The reason OEMs like Ford and Nissan start their vehicles out a bit high is to take more advantage of those who don't or aren't willing to negotiate properly. If they can get more money out of them, why not?
@senorgato707 жыл бұрын
Common sense applies when you are comparing apples to apples, cars and brands within the same market segment. Comparing Ford to Lexus is erroneous for hopefully obvious reasons. As far as negotiation is concerned, I do not doubt that you can negotiate more for a Nissan than a Honda or Toyota. That has more to do with brand/model desirability than dealer markup/invoice and MSRP. Honda and Toyota dealers know that they can sell cars while propping their feet up on the desk and watching ESPN. But the true reality here is that is a car like this Rogue Sport has an MSRP of $31k while a comparably trimmed Honda HR-V has an MSRP of $27k, where is the buyer likely to go first (and maybe last)? (these are factual MSRPs) Is that taking the sticker at face value? Absolutely. There are a good percentage of buyers that do that, without even starting to negotiate. Even if you can negotiate a higher percentage off the Nissan vs. the Honda, you still end up with a price at the end. So, in this comparison, if you negotiate 15% off the Nissan, your end price is just over $26k. If you negotiate 10% off the Honda, your end price is just over $24k. Even if you negotiated 20% off the Nissan, you still end up with an end price of $24,800 vs.the Honda's $24,300.
