I got the chance to keep a 2016 loaner sentra for a couple of days while my older sentra (with CVT) was at the dealership for repair. In all honesty, the CVT in the new generation sentra is a lot quiter and more responsive than ever. Coupled with a very smooth ride, this sentra drove with the likes of the honda accord. Understeer has been greatly reduced. Overall, I really liked this sentra and it was a joy to drive. It may not win you drag races, but it performs very well in all you'd expect it to do. Go have a test drive and see for yourself.

Well my family member has a S which is a base model. For a base model it is a well packed car with standard features. Base models are the only ones with a key so if you want a key you're limited to that but some people like push start so SV and up gets push start. All models come with power amenities. It's a really great car. I wish you luck in choosing your car! Yes Nissan has gotten really upscale with luxury, problem for me is I like basic cars lol so I stick with base models.

Cee W We have taken ours through the Pennsylvania hills and it did great due to the CVT adjusting its self. You buy Corolla is road manners are not a priority, but reliability and safety are at a good price. You buy Mazda 3 if you still want most of the reliability, but want a car that is really sporty and will pay a little more for that. You buy a Sentra if you want a car bigger than those two inside, and want to spend less, less MPG is not that big a deal to you, and do not care a lot of style or reliability. The last great Sentra was the SE-R in 1994.

I personally would not buy this car, on the lower models it uses decades old drum brakes, the paint on the prior model started to flake off after 3 years despite waxing three times a year. The air conditioner went after 4 years and the stock tires were so bad it made the car unstable at higher speeds. Do yourself and buy a Toyota Corolla as it is one of the most reliable cars in its class according to Kelly blue book.

My family had to get a loner 2019 Sentra SR from Nissan because of long term work on our Pathfinder. We had the car for a month and I have to say the CVT transmission had to be hands down the worst driving car we have ever owned. The car would sit at 4k RPM on a normal drive up the mountains making it impossible to get to speed limit let alone accelerate. From a family I must say avoid CVT transmissions at all cost if you plan on doing more than driving to Walmart.
