If you want to raise the profile of this sport and bring in more money I have your answer......... "Win A Dream Date With Simon" A reality show with some dating in it but mostly you follow Simon around watching Simon do Simon things. Be sure to toss him into a few situations foreign to him that will baffle him and make him blush in every episode. I'm telling you (although everyone kind of already knows it), that semi-brain dead Kraut is totally watchable. The idiot has star power up the wazoo. He just does. He shouldn't but he does. Put it together right, sell it right, advertise it right if you get anywhere with it and it'll be a hit. I guarantee it. And if Simon refuses to take part, punch him in the face. Repeatedly. You gotta be firm with these German bastards.

What a play by Wysocki through this tournament. Amazing! Had hoped for a more dramatic last round, but he´s just been to good.
@jthowell907 жыл бұрын
Sgtqman19 The thing is, your opinion doesn't matter. They played 4 rounds, they knew they were going to play 4 rounds. Ricky slaughtered for 4 rounds. Paul was still 8 strokes back. These are facts. The opinion that Paul would have caught up in 3 more rounds is ignorant and childish. They played a lot of golf, Ricky separated himself from the field rather easily. He even just enjoyed the last round and still had 7 birdies in a row. Come on now, congratulate the professional that won instead of complaining about the format.
@brandontilton25637 жыл бұрын
Lots of factors come into Paul trying to catch up! But Ricky gets that big of a lead he plays differently. If Paul got closer Ricky would play more aggressive. Not so that it wouldn't be possible but highly unlikely especially how Ricky is playing.

JMRSplatt as of now i wouldn't say a toss up Ricky is steamrolling everybody and it's just not by a couple Strokes he's in a league of his own. not taking away from Macbeth cuz Macbeth is a monster
@gg51157 жыл бұрын
I think one reason Ricky doesn't get the respect you think he should is all the danged marketing. Nobody is going to say that, so they're just like yeah he's almost as good as Paul. Maybe Paul should wear shirts with 'MCBEAST' in giant letters all over it. (What does traditional Japanese liquor have to do with disc golf or Ricky's game anyway?)
@FrederickHiemer7 жыл бұрын
First of all, losing by 8 is not catching up. He only gained 3 strokes the last round. That's nothing. Second, it's silly to argue he would have won if he had more time. They both knew there were only four rounds. Paul couldn't capitalize within the time allotted. It's not like when Jerm won usdgc bc of unexpected rain cancellation. Ricky one fair and square and by a lot. He is better than Paul.
@dustinmccoy41787 жыл бұрын
he won by "a solid margin" during this world championship. Last year when he won, it was by playoff to McBeth.

Did anyone else dislike the format this year? 4 rounds without a final 9? I know Koling said they "play the same amount of golf" but that's not even close. 2014 = 403 strokes | 2015 = 356 strokes | 2016 = 288 strokes | 2017 = 229 strokes. Those are the stroke totals of the winner each year. Sticking with only two courses was also a mistake. Just something about this year wasn't fun to watch and seemed like any other A-tier.
@nataskaos7 жыл бұрын
I actually preferred this year over previous tournaments. I like that they didn't have age protected divisions. I like that it was the best golfer wins. I love the courses.
@ryancole49087 жыл бұрын
Definitely needs to be more rounds. McBeth being -72 a couple years ago after six rounds is kind of ridiculous, but A) that was on waaaaay easier courses, and B) four rounds on two courses just seems like cutting it a bit short to decide for 365 days the "world's best disc golfer".
@tapinalbatross44387 жыл бұрын
This year's Worlds did not feel right. It was just like any 4 round tournament. It did not stand out at all. Not a bit! Unfortunate......!!
@johansoka60427 жыл бұрын
I don't think we need 7 rounds, but I think we need at least a final 9. The final 9 is awesome. Huge crowd, bunch of cheers as everyone holes out. It's iconic. Everyone always talks about marketing and growing the sport and everything, but things like this are what we need. Do it big. Go 110% right at the last minute when everyone's looking. People obviously like to have fun and the final 9 is fun. I would personally love to see some cool temp courses put in for final 9's. Props and thanks to everyone who made worlds play and coverage(great coverage) happen this year. However, this one reminded me a bit of Times Square on new years eve (ball dropped).
@backyardstrummer38567 жыл бұрын
Personally prefer shorter format, Less chance of injuries, better for players. Also gives the older players a little more chance at making it into the final round.
@marscruz7 жыл бұрын
Great coverage. Best production values. Ricky and Paul on the same card would have been more interesting... too bad Paul couldn't make that happen. Looking forward to seeing more coverage of Hammes. Looks like he has a strong and balanced game. The JohnE and Simon fight for 3rd created some good dynamics and drama. Big Jerm sounded tired and needs a better foil. Tell Sexton he needs a break from diaper duty (doodie) and setup some split studio commentary. If you can get around the synch delays and dropouts (H2 patch in?) somehow it could really work well.

hay Jomez! :) How about coloring the FollowFlight (TM) with a tick mark every like 1 second? Maybe half second ticks? Just a thought. I was thinking when I saw the overlays of all the throws on a pad, very cool, that it would be neat to put a timing tick on the FollowFlight. So at each 1 second interval a small different colored tick mark would appear on the track and stay there.

I kinda held a beef with McCray after the whole "potty break" issue with Paul a year or two back. Seemed like a pouty move against a player who was beating him. However, the more I see him, the more I read and hear stories of him play, the more I see his demeanor on and off the course, he really seems like a stand up guy. Cheers, JohnE. Plus, 45 years old and still kicking ass? Can't wait to see him here in my hometown for Pro Worlds Masters.

Firstly, I appreciate you and the others coverage! Secondly, I saw a blog of Will Shusterick at a tournament, where the alarm goes off in the hotel room with 4 guys sharing a room. All I could think was he is one of the best and deserves more than prize money that doesn't even cover the expenses. Everyone involved with Disc Golf seems to be in it for the love of the game, but so much more could be accomplished. I have an idea but let me preface by saying I'm not sure of the compensation on KZbin, but I do know young kids act like idiots, post a 7 minute video and they are millionaires! So combine your efforts with others that you share tourney coverage. With all the subscribers, weeding out the ones who have subbed to more than I of the channels, you would probably start with 100k eager new subscribers. Let them know they will be in on the foundation of something great and subscription comes with a cost. $5 donation and have them each get 3 new involved and subscribed. You could start with 400k subs and $500,000k to make this a professional, combined production with coverage similar to the PGA. You would grow expotentially and have local and show sponsorships. This game should be THE sport to watch with viewers of all ages. As it grows, you will be deservingly compensated and have money for higher purses and promoting the game and charities. I've been playing for 40 years ( starting with a whamo and tree trunks ) I'm losing my eyesight and can't see the baskets, so I play my course ( Oshtemo. Mi ) by feel. I wish I could do more to make this sport what it deserves to be, but you guys are able and have the professionalism and core group to pull this off! As for us who watch and love the game, promote the Hell out of it by telling others about the channel, maybe helping out some beginners or giving some young kid a couple discs, etc. Imagine in a year you have over a million subs and ten thousand fans in the gallery watching Paul battle Ricky for a $100,000 first prize! It would grow expotentially Andrew the other guys making bank by placing in the top ten. I know it is not that easy, but it's really not that difficult. I will assist in any way possible and I'm sure there are many others with willingness because of the love for Disc Golf. You could probably summon hundreds of volunteers with experience and knowledge at each tourney. Nothing like disc golf people. Enough small time coverage when the untapped market is vast. Just sayin. Thanks for your consideration.

WTF is up with the rule that they would've taken 2nd round scores as final IF it would've rained out in 4th round?! Ridiculous, archaic stuff right there.
@badass4477 жыл бұрын
It is because they have A and B pools. Meaning A pool is playing on one course and B pool is playing on the other course. SO after two rounds they had both played the courses 1 time each. I agree the rule is retarded and needs to be addressed immediately!!!

congrats to ricky. great job again by jomez. the course had series issues. making holes super long is not better, actually it makes it more boring and wears out the player. its not a real test of talent when you make a hole a 1000 feet and put 300 tree's in the way, 20 ppl throwing through a forest its the luckiest shot that makes it not necessarily the most talented shot. the heat, the bug's, the long holes, the ungroomed course all made for a lack luster event. maybe they can get it right next year.

hogleg2 You can't please everyone. Would you complain about the money not being green enough after you won the tourney!?
@gg51157 жыл бұрын
One doesn't have to play devil's advocate on everything Kodey. He's right - the courses sucked. When half the shots are poke and pray, then it can't be all about talent and skill. We all want a bit of luck in our tournaments, but not half and half.
